[Pictures] Mewar Festival – a lively Celebration

Mewar_Festival_2012_Gangaur

Colors of tradition spread out everywhere, Sparkling water of Pichola, Rajasthani women and girls elegantly dressed up, and beautifully decorated idols of Gangaur glittering in the beautiful light. Such was the charm of Mewar Festival at Gangaur Ghat. It felt as if everything around is tinted in rainbow – colorful and vibrant. As the folk tales say, these 16 days of Gangaur were the days when Parvati Ji stayed at her father’s home. These were the days of celebration, days to worship Gauri for a perfect husband and his well being. Today, Gauri Ji was given farewell amidst a big festival – the Mewar Festival.

The celebration started with a procession, in which women carried the idols of Isar and Gangaur all the way from Clock Tower to the Gangaur Ghat. Then the Royal boat of Palace was taken out from Bansi Ghat to Gangaur Ghat which was the centre of attraction of the evening. Colorful boat in the glowing water of Pichola was truly worth watching. Then the artists showed various shades of culture in the cultural programme that followed. The Show started by the performance of renowned Maand Singer of Udaipur – “Maangi bai”; Tune of ‘Padharo Mahare Desh’ filled the air and traditional dance forms like ‘Ghoomar’ and ‘Kalbeliya’ took hold of the breath. On the whole, the whole festival served as an eye candy with its striking colors and glorious culture.

I was so untouched from one of the best festivals of Rajasthan and that too purely dedicated to womenfolk. For those who are still untouched with its allure, UdaipurBlog have the best of pictures of this celebration. And for those who captured the view in their eyes, these photos will recall those amazing moments.

Mahalaxmi Temple in Udaipur

Idana Mata Ji Mandir

Bollywood New Fashion tattoo

From inky black to a colorful mix of myriad hues, the gals and guys in the B-Town are making sure their tattoos speak volumes when they make an appearance on screen.

Whether it is getting inked because the Tattoo complements the character in the film or it ups the curiosity about the various emotional shades of a character among the viewer, tattooing is now back.

Like Shahrukh Khan in Don 2 or Ajay Devgn in golmaal 3 and Sanjay Dutt in Agneepath, Not so long ago the sizzling Bebo lit up the silver screen with her tattoos in the film Ashoka as she played princess Kaurwaki.

Aishwarya rai Bachchan too mesmerised the audience with sporting traditional body art along her midriff in the film Shakti.

——

Sanjay Dutt:

Emphatic moves with his leading lady Lisa in Rascals surely got the movie lovers take notice of his Shiva tattoo etched on his biceps.

In his next, Agneepath, the camera has exploited all the angles that make the actor’s body art look more enigmatic thereby complementing his character.

Arjun Rampal

Having sported tattoos in his earlier movies like Ek Ajnabee, in Ra.One, he went many steps further. It looked like Rampal’s body was a playfield for a tattoo artist. Owing to this, though the actor made a brief appearance in the film, he grabbed eyeballs.

Deepika Padukone

Her item number in the movie Dum Maaro Dum, her tattoo also did the talking. It’s not the RK tattoo that we are talking about. It is the cobra tattoo that peeped out of her tummy on the sizzling item song Dum Maaro Dum.

Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn as cop in Singham. He was not only talked about for his well-toned abs but also for his Shiva tattoo. These designs were also visible on his torso in Golmaal 3. The trishul on his neck was introduced to add another shade of curiosity to his ‘freak’ look in the movie.

John Abraham

Stunts that did in his recently released movie Force apart, the inky patterns across his arms become a hot topic of discussion.

King Khan

King Too, made sure that every took notice of the the tattoo which is simple yet leaves its own mark helping in the brand recall of the franchise
