Many of us see things we would like to change in our streets, our neighbourhoods or in our city but there is no forum which helps us to make those change happen ACTION UDAIPUR is such a initiative from the district administration. It’s a democratic movement for clean and green Udaipur through public contribution which empowers the community to own different projects in which a full support from the administration is provided to complete the projects.
It is a practical movement where the community is aware to take action, encourage a groundswell of related activities and incorporate positive messaging on social graciousness and consideration for others. This public-driven and administration-supported effort started in the June, 2014. In just a short span of 3 months more then 50+ projects are being carried out which reflects the outcomes in the mind of local citizens. There seems to be a drastic change in learning of the public about the values of responsibility and care. With the launching of this project the people are getting a chance to propose ideas to keep the city clean and green and then put their ideas into action and carry them out on a sustained basis to cultivate good habits.
Social media is the basis of this project. The simplest procedure to seek help from the administration is to email the content of the project including details of the work taken along with requirements from the administration. Every completed project with photographs are posted on the face book page of Action Udaipur so that others also get motivated. Up till now many people has reached the face book page and four thousand have liked it.
To create awareness among people more than fifty road shows was conducted at schools, colleges, corporate organisations, NGOs. A large number of people were involved through this publicity campaign.
It is a movement to move from being a ‘cleaned city to a truly clean city’. The Keep Udaipur Clean awareness drive aims to bring the cleanliness challenge to the forefront of the public’s consciousness, and will work in tandem with the Movement, supporting activities by the District Administration, UIT, Nagar Nigam and General public. Public taking ownership and play a part in keeping Udaipur clean.
So far a tremendous response was experienced from the private schools, banks, local residents, NGOs & many organisations. The projects completed so far are cleaning, colouring and renovation of the public parks, new look to the chaurahas and walls, cleaning the public toilets, removing posters from the bus stops and walls etc. There are more then twenty ongoing projects and many proposals are being received in which help from administration is yet to be given like paint, gloves, grooms etc.
Pertaining to the attitude and perception of most Udaipur people, it is encouraged to change the mindsets that people have. The local citizens are urged to forge a new norm on public cleanliness and hygiene. With that, Udaipur will be able to move towards a more sustainable way of keeping the city clean and green, as more people develop the zero tolerance for litter attitude.

Udaipur is one of the most beautiful Cities of India, but being in Rajasthan people have so many myths about Udaipur. So UdaipurBlog.com takes this initiative to clear them all up.
1. Udaipur is not a Desert:
Yes its true…!! Udaipur is a part and parcel of Rajasthan but its not at all a Desert. The only sand you will see in Udaipur is outside the new construction sites and no where else. Udaipur is a Green City surrounded by beautiful Aravali hills with beautiful Gardens, Lakes and Water Reservoirs.
2. Not everyone wears a Pagri/Dhoti or Colourful Clothes:
Unlike in movies and mindless daily soaps Udaipurites do not wear a Pagri (turban) and dhoti or wear colourful clothes all around. Yes Pagri or Paag as it is called is a traditional wear but not a common wear among the citizens for their daily routine. It is only on the special occasions like marriages people of certain communities wear a paag or pagri.
3. Moustache – “Not every men has it”
It is not necessary that men from Rajasthan need to keep a moustache. Most men do not keep a moustache. Specially the younger men in their 20’s and 30’s love being clean shaved as other men from various states do.
So next time you see a Happy Men from Udaipur with no moustache, then do not wonder if there is anything wrong with him – “He is just alright without a moustache and He is loving it”
4. “Balika Vadhu”
They Exist but only in TV Programmes.
It is just a TV Series. Balika Vadhu or Baal Vivah is a thing of past and has no relevance in the current times. Udaipur is a modern City with strong uproots to tradition and culture but its far away from the misdeeds of past.
So next time you visit Udaipur and see a cute/pretty young girl in a traditional dress then please don’t misunderstand her as “Balika Vadhu” she might just be ready for some cultural fest and festivities but she is not a “Balika Vadhu”.
5. “Khamma Ghani” – Not everyone does it
Khamma Ghani and Ghani Khamma are not a part of daily greetings to the average citizens.
Yes its true and unfortunate that the famous Greetings in Mewari “Khamma Ghani” is not a part of daily greetings for most of the citizens. Hello, Hii and all other English slangs and greetings are what the younger generation prefers. But this one word “Khamma Ghani” has a magical impact and still sounds the most auspicious greetings of all times.
So next time somebody from Udaipur greets you with a just a Hello …. Hi… or Namaste don’t get disheartened.
6. “Daal Baati” – we do not always keep on munching Baatis
Yes its true that one of the traditional food is Daal Baati and we love it like everybody does. But we do not always keep on munching Baatis every day. We have all sorts of fresh veggies and herbs which we eat regularly. Udaipur is no exception than any other place and we have a lot of variety to eat.
So next time when you come don’t be surprised to see people enjoying all sorts of food stuff from Rajasthani, Punjabi, South Indian, North Indian to Continental, Chinese or others.
7. We are Literates – “Yes almost all of us”
The Literacy rate of Udaipur is high as compared to other cities of Rajasthan and India as well. We have the best of colleges and Universities since the time Udaipur was a Princely State and ruled by the King. The Visionary King Maharana Bhopal itself laid the foundation of providing good education to its citizens the MB College/Science College/BN Sansthan as we know it are all there since very long.
And Yes most of us can speak three languages namely 1. Mewari 2. Hindi and last but not the least English.
So next time when you visit Udaipur and see someone speaking fluent English or clear Hindi then possibly he is from none other place than UDAIPUR.
8. Jeeps and Bullets are not the ONLY Vehicles we posses.
As popularly seen on TV channels and International Broadcasts we do not just drive in Jeeps and ride Bullet Bikes. We have a lot more happening on the roads of Udaipur. The Roads of Udaipur are particularly better than most 2-tier towns of India and we have all sorts of Vehicles and four wheelers ranging from Maruti 800 to Land Rovers, Audis, Mercs, BMW’s, Porsche, Bentley and other High end sedans and convertibles. With almost all the popular two wheelers and four wheeler companies having their Showrooms and sales in Udaipur, Udaipur also tops the list amongst two tier town with the highest number of vehicles according to population.
“So don’t be too surprised next time if you see so many High End cars and two wheelers with their number plates starting from RJ – 27 , Yes RJ – 27 means its from Udaipur”
9. Last but not the least
“Not every guy is called a BANNA and not every girl is titled BAISA”
Yes its true the titles of Banna and Hukum exists but not commonly every guy from Udaipur is called or titled a Banna or Hukum.
Dudes are many, but –
“It takes something special to be titled as Banna Hukum or Baisa”

Last but not the least, The city of lakes possesses a quality population which is willing to reach out and help when you are in need. Udaipurites are adaptive to changes, willing to accept new ideas and are ahead of many cities in fashion. Udaipur was founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the final capital of the erstwhile Mewar kingdom, located in the fertile circular valley – “Girwa” to the southwest of Nagda, on the Banas River, the first capital of the Mewar kingdom. Being a mountainous region and unsuitable for heavily armoured Mughal horses, Udaipur remained safe from Mughal influence in spite of much pressure. The rajvansh of Udaipur was one of the oldest dynasties of the world. In the recent years Udaipur has become very popular destination for people from all over the world! Being born and brought up in Udaipur, it will always be a HOME to me, I have often met people who either start swooning after only hearing the name or they ask me what’s so great about Udaipur apart from the Royalty and the lakes!!! Well this blog is my answer to them…
Udaipur is known as the city of lakes which one can read all about on the net, Here are My top 10 reasons!
1. The Lakes:
Lakes make a perfect backdrop to the romantic setting of Udaipur. Udaipur is truly famous for its beautiful lakes and watercourses. The city is popular by the phrase of ‘The City of Lakes’. The Picturesque lakes offering fabulous view of the mountains make Udaipur, a dream destination of every tourist. Since ages, these lakes have been providing water to the city dwellers.
Lake Pichola:
Located in the heart of the city, Pichola Lake is the oldest and one of the largest lakes of Udaipur. In 1362, the beautiful lake was built by Pichhu Banjara during the ruling period of Maharana Lakha.
Lake FatehSagar:
Fateh Sagar Lake is the second artificial lake of Udaipur, the first being Jaisamand lake. Built in 1678 by Maharana Jai Singh, Fateh Sagar Lake got its name from Maharana Fateh Singh, who later made additions to it.
Lake Jaisamand:
Jaisamand Lake is renowned for being the second largest artificial lake in Asia. Located at a distance of 48 kms from the city of Udaipur, Jaisamand Lake is also known as Dhebar. In 1685, Maharana Jai Singh built this lake while making a dam on the Gomti River.
On a 40 Acre Island in the midst of Jaisamand Lake is another resort worth going to stay called Jaisamand Island Resorts, it is the only resort in North West Region of the country to be built on a Private Island of 40 acres. Jaisamand Lake and the Sanctuary are rich in fauna with counts of over 300 bird species. So it is a must stay for all those Bird lovers!
2. MONSOONS!!
Udaipur is at it’s best during monsoons, surrounded by the Aravali ranges on all sides, the rains during monsoons are what make the entire city look lush green. The Temperature drops, the sky stays overcast and the roasted corn on Fatehsagar , long drives on Rani road slow drives on Badi lake are just a few things that make you fall in love with this city!!
3. EklingNathji Mandir:
Eklingji Temple is one of the most famous temples of Rajasthan. Located in the town of Eklingji (Kailashpuri), the place got its popular name from the temple. The temple boasts of a striking four-faced idol of Eklingji (Lord Shiva) that is made out of black marble. Its height ranges around 50 feet and its four faces depict four forms of Lord Shiva. The east-facing part is recognized as Surya, the west-facing part is Lord Brahma, the north-facing part is Lord Vishnu and the south-facing part is Rudra i.e. Lord Shiva himself. The zenith of the multifaceted idol is known as ‘Yantra that stands for the ultimate reality. The Shivlinga garlanded by a silver snake, acquires the major attraction of people. For one seeking solace, the cool, beautiful and calm surroundings of Ek Ling Nath Ji Temple are a must visit.
4. Shilpgram Utsav:
It takes place in December around Christmas and so I always wait for this Utsav to begin! As the name suggests it actually is an UTSAV, not only the local craftsmen but craftsmen from all over the country participate in it. Shilpgram is a miniature man-made village, so every year during winters there are not only stalls of clothes but also of craft, jewellery and eatables! The entire day just flies once you are here. As the sun sets in the backdrop..the evenings are the best time of the entire day, cold breezes and the typical Rajasthani good of Dal, Bati, Choorma and the Raab!! The hot food served with warmth and lots of love by the people here, accompanied by the Rajasthani folk dancers and folk singers just add to a whole new level of amazement; hearing them just takes you to a whole new world. There are many activities for kids too, but Ladies be sure you wear Flats or Shoes and not Heels!! We wouldn’t want swollen feet now do we!!?? 😉
5. Hariyali Amawas Mela/Fair:
It is one fun-fair which takes place only in Udaipur during monsoons, to be precise in the month of August! As the name suggests, it is to welcome the rains and the greenery it brings along.
Being a 2 day fun-fair celebrations, it has one day exclusively for men and the 2nd day for women! The entire road right from Fatehsagar till the road of Saheliyon ki Badi, everything stays jampacked and closed for vehicles! The only fair where you still get the village version of a yo-yo called ‘Ullu ka pattha’ No! I’m not abusing!! It’s what they’re called…they are basically water-balloons suspended by a rubber string!
6. Gangaur Festival:
Celebrated till date in the same way as it used to be during Udai Singhji’s reign!! His highness Arvind Singhji Mewar has ensured that this festival has the same essence to it as it did when he was a child! Attending the Gangaur festivities brings back memories of childhood and makes one proud of belonging to Udaipur, to Mewar!! Hats off to him for keeping it alive till now and celebrating it with the same zeal and enthusiasm.
7. SILVER:
Yes u read it right!! Shopping in Udaipur is one of its kind. Silver is the best thing to pick up, you get excellent jewellery and show pieces made of silver in Lal-Ghat area and the entire Palace Road! There are silver pieces which one would not find anywhere else in the world. Then there are Stoles which are famous, you get all kinds of work, whether you want plain, shaded, printed work, Jamawar work etc are just a few to name! For women who love buying borders or old sarees(like me), Palace Road is the place to go! There are awesome tailors in the city area who stitch kurtis, jackets, sherwani’s etc very nicely and very quickly! You get very unique and cute suits and ghagras for little kids and grown ups too, here in the city and jootis too!
8. The Erstwhile Royalty:
To get the feel of how the erstwhile Royals lived during the golden years one MUST visit The City Palace! It is one of the architectural marvels of Rajasthan, located peacefully on the banks of Lake Pichola. This majestic Palace is the most-visited tourist attraction of Udaipur. It is often distinguished as the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. It was Maharana Udai Singh who initially built this superb wonder, but the present form of the Palace is the result of subsequent additions made by his successors. City Palace has several gates that are known as “Pols”. ‘Bara Pol’ (Great Gate) is the main gate to the City Palace complex that leads to the first courtyard. On passing ‘Bara Pol’, one comes across a triple arched gate, which is known as ‘Tripolia’. Between these two gates, are visible eight marble arches or Toranas, where Kings used to weigh themselves with gold and silver. Besides Tripolia, there is an arena where elephant fights were staged. After ‘Tripolia’, one enters the ‘Elephant Gate’ or the ‘Hathi Pol’.
The highest point of this Palace is Amar Vilas which has wonderful hanging gardens with fountains, towers and terraces. City Palace is structured in a way that it offers a splendid view of the lake from all its Balconies, cupolas and towers. It has amazing interiors with delicate mirror-work, marble work, murals, wall paintings, silver work, inlay work and colored glass. The exquisitly carved work of City Palace cannot be confined in words. To experience the beauty and to capture the real picture of this grand palace it is a must to visit this palace.
9. ROMANCE:
In a country less known for its romantic getaways, Udaipur offers tranquil nights, splendid strolls, and an exotic seduction that’s hard to resist, making it an ideally romantic honeymoon destination for newlyweds.
Right from long drives at Rani road and Badi Lake to dining out in places like Jagat Niwas, Sunset Terrace and Ambrai(to name a few) with the perfect view overlooking the Lake Pichola, cool breeze blowing and mouth watering food, one can’t help falling in love with this picturesquely beautiful city
10. Jagdish Temple:
This imposing white Hindu temple, with intricate architecture and carvings, is an unmissable landmark in the Lal Ghat area near the entrance to the City Palace. It was built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1961 and houses a black stone idol of Lord Jagannath (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu). The highlight there is the evocative Aarti every sunrise and sunset.
Udaipur should not be visited for all the reasons given above…. NO!! Udaipur should be visited for an experience of a lifetime and to make your own reasons to come back!!
A lewd stare, a sly whistle, a well-timed clap, an unwarranted bump, a seemingly casual touch, a lingering look at a vulnerable time, cheap gestures, the humming of a suggestive song, passing downright crude comments, bikes flying close with hands stretched to grope you!! Yes, eve teasing can take any form. And the ways an eve teaser can harass a woman is surely endless!
Eve teasing is an awful act that injects shame, fear, disgust and helplessness in the victim. I don’t think it would be wrong if I say that eve teasing has become an inseparable part of every girl’s life. Eve teasing is a common incident, be it in buses, shopping arcades, cinema halls, pubs, restaurants, bus stops, railway booking counters and every other conceivable place. Keeping aside the big metropolitan cities, even in a small beautiful city like Udaipur, it is shocking that the incidents of eve teasing are increasing at an alarming rate.
Udaipur blog recently received a mail from a victim of eve teasing revealing the incident that she experienced while driving a two-wheeler. Since then, our team has been talking to many girls and surprisingly, almost every girl had one or more recent bad experience of being eve teased in one or other way. Crap, what has happened to our city!
Nikita (changed name), an engineering student says “Girls are never safe in the streets. Even waiting for a bus on the University road is made traumatic when sick comments are made by nuisance creatures.” Aditi added to this saying “And in the bus some brainless boys bump into us intentionally.” No doubt, girls have to definitely be on their guard all the time when in the market or a shopping mall. After all, no one knows when and how do the uncivilized people creep in to display their ‘lack of culture’!
Women who are on a vehicle are easy targets; bikes chase them and they get even more hyper if an attempt is made to speed up the vehicle. Rashmi (changed name) described UB Team about how some uncivilized boys ill-behaved while she was driving. “Right from my way from Fatehpura to Sardarpura it was thrice that I faced bikers who passed lewd comments and tried obstructing my path. Limits crossed when one of them pushed me down and got me injured. Eve teasers seek thrill in ripping behind girls in a hazardous manner, proving themselves so-called brave!”
Some people directly accuse dressing of a girl. “Oh! What am I wearing today!” Nidhi, an ex-student of BN Girls College ponders when she sees an eve teaser on the road. “These guys make you conscious even while sporting a decent Salwaar Kameez! We end up getting seriously jacked!”
There is a definite pattern in which an eve teaser behaves. An eve teaser gains confidence when he notices that the girls he abuses do nothing to harm him. He gets even more encouraged by girl’s silence. He enjoys watching the girl spew fiery words on him or squirm in disgust. It is only after he is dragged to the police station that he accepts his fault and pleads for mercy. An interesting aspect here is that an eve teaser will not reveal his address or allow the police to contact his residence. He will do anything as long as he ensures that his family is oblivious to his act of eve teasing.
Real problem is that girls are hesitant to inform their parents about an incident of eve teasing; as they know from past experience that they would be the only ones to be affected adversely. Their activities and clothes would fall under scrutiny; late nights would be curbed, wantonly by strict parents and on a sub-conscious level by parents who are supportive. How ironical!
There are various myths related to eve teasing. One of the biggest points is that eve teasing is propagated by wicked group of people. Absolutely not! He can be any normal looking guy. Next is, if this is ignored, it will go away or solve itself. No! Doing that would in fact encourage the culprit to get even stronger. Another belief, that eve teasers are macho men who accost anyone, is wrong. Eve teasers are cowards by nature and are experts in selecting the right time to target defenseless and meek woman who will not react in an assertive manner against their misdeeds. Lastly, if anyone thinks that talking about facts will solve the problem then, wow! This article will have solved the problem by the time this is published! Unfortunately it’s not that easy.
According to me, an eve teaser having witnessed many incidents of disrespect to women at home might have added to this perversion. It has something to do with their upbringing, or some insecurity in him that he takes out by targeting girls, a tacky way of feeling macho!
I feel that parents should chat with their daughters and ask them to be bold when faced by such an issue and they should also advise their sons to not ever indulge in such cheap acts. Obviously, family values influence one’s character and deeds. Victims can make an eve-teaser sweat by raising a hue and cry immediately. Public reaction and condemnation scares the wits out of the eve-teaser. Every person caught eve teasing should be dealt with in all sternness and there should not be any lenience for first time offenders. The best way to deter stubborn eve teasers who defy and question authority is to produce them before their family and unmask their true instincts. The sense of shame will ensure that they never resort to such a thing again. The public should rush to the aid of the victim girl and a more concrete step would be that of publishing photos of eve teasers in newspapers along with details of their unclean act. Stern follow-up by police would help a lot.
I agree that everyone has a pile of work to attend to, but they have to spare a few moments to take note of these aberrations in society and reprimand the eve teasers sternly, this collective public behavior will go a long way in curbing the menace of eve teasing.
School is the foremost stair of every child’s life to penetrate into this world. Schools facilitate them to learn and to get educated. Parents prefer to admit their child into the best school of their possible ways. But, nowadays there is a lot of competition in the education line. They play various tricks to make out their school quiet poles apart from the other ones. In the race of these, they deploy surplus compulsions on the students. And this load directly or indirectly reaches to the parents.
Schools desire to make available each and every competence which other school is having, so they lift up the monthly fee. They are referring numerous expensive books other than NCERT books recommended by government just to demonstrate that they are providing astonishing schooling. Junior classes are more exaggerated by the problems of expensive books. Students are required to use the Notebooks of the School-Prints only, which are also expensive than the usual notebooks existing in the market.
Now, the main question arises. What about Uniform? Do Uniforms make schools better? Better teaching can do, not the uniform. Schools are forcing students to purchase the uniform at pocket tearing prices. For a Uniform we just think of shirts, pants/skirts, tie, belt and shoes. But, we can see that, in the cost of shoes, we can purchase all other elements of uniform.
One more innovation in this field is made by one of the renowned school of Udaipur – Central Public School to grasp some extra cream from parents. They are providing a shoe pair, which is available only with Adidas. No supplementary brand can be chosen. And for the growing foot, expenditure of 1500/- to 2000/- is not a good choice to make for a middle class family. Although, keeping the price apart, we focus on the thing that what they are teaching the kids about the dress code. We all know that according to the normal formal dress up, with the combo of Shirt-Pant-Tie-Belt, leather shoes are the best match. There is no place for sportswear. Just look at the way they are taking advantages of parents. They are having the counter outlets in the schools only saying that they are available at some discounts, but no one can believe; they are actually giving discounts or they are filling their own pockets. God knows.
Schools have now become ‘Money Making’ rather than ‘Mind Making’. They are earning a good secondary income with all these. But, we also know, Uniforms can’t make the school better or can’t affect child’s academics. They have lost the essence of teaching and moving towards showing off. They are putting more emphasis on these unwanted expensive compulsions rather than imparting good quality education. For good quality education, Parents are ready to pay more if money is for some new education technology/task. But, education is no more prior now. In this expensive world, it is one of the horrible situations.

After hearing complains from many parents and students this post was made and we would be happy to hear if any of the school authorities come forward and reply to this matter through comment or Email Us: info@udaipurblog.com

This week in Udaipur Speaks column, the residents of Gayatri Nagar, Sector 5 share their problem and pain. Problem prevails on the issue of drainage and water pipeline service disturbance. The drainage system of Sec .5 Gayatri nagar has been constructed in the year 2007. And it was in a good condition. In views of the residents, the people of Gayatri Nagar did not have any trouble with the drainage system.
In a conversation with the residents, they informed that last Sunday, i-e 19th of May 2013 the drainage system had been demolished by a contractor including the House Ramps and drinking water supply pipes for re-construction of the drainage system , which was not needed at all. The construction isn’t in even its minimal pace yet, and now they are not getting any drinking water from more than a week, and also are not able to take their vehicles on the road as the Ramps & water pipes are broken. Not only an issue for vehicles, this is causing too much inconvenience for the elderly people, as well as posing threat to kids of the colony.
“It was also promised to us that a new water pipe line will be replaced by the old one as the latter is covered by the new drainage system under construction, which is also not fulfilled. Its very risky especially for kids and Aged persons to move over from the broken drainage system as the contractor has put weak temporary ramps over it.“, added another resident of the colony.
The situation is really bad, and we just hope for an immediate action on it. People from other parts of the city can also share their problems, views and more they would like to share with the city under this column.
We all are very well aware about the vulnerable traffic conditions of Udaipur. There is no Red Light, No Zebra Crossing, No Safety Concerns for drivers and other traffic on road that are using it. Not even pedestrians are aware about the proper use of road and the traffic that is running on the road. For the worst traffic situation in the city a little bit credit goes to those who are not driving or nor using the road as pedestrians. Then who are they? The credit goes to the road side stalls and other shop owners who encroach the property and prove a hurdle for the running traffic. There are many reasons for such horrible traffic in Udaipur.
This is the scenario for the day and during the night the other half of the problem comes into the picture. But, what is that? No doubt, you might have experienced many times when you had driven a bike or another two wheeler during night. The focusing high beam lights of other vehicles penetrate straight away into your eyes and leave you blind almost. You are left with no choice to stop aside or slow down your vehicle. Let us know the fact whether it is really necessary for all of us to drive using high beam lights.
I remember when I started learning driving I was always told the dos and don’ts to keep in mind while driving. One of them was No High Beam. In metro cities like Delhi the drivers are penalized for driving using high beam. If driving using high beam is an offence then why they are provided in vehicles. The answer is very straight forward and simple. Do you face the same driving scenario and same driving conditions every day? No, and accordingly we reciprocate to the situation we have to face ahead.
High beams are not meant for use inside the city. They are supposed to be used where there are multiple lanes of traffic and there is least chance of blinding drivers coming from the opposite direction. High beams are made to provide clarity of view from long distance. Thus vehicles moving at high speed must be able to see the road and hurdles on road if there are any from a long distance. This would enable them to decide and have better control on their vehicle. Stopping distance vary according to the speed of the vehicle. High beams should only be used where there are no street lights and secondly where vehicles move at a high speed. Both these factors relate to highway traffic and is not meant for the traffic running within a city. NO to high beam head light within the city should be respected and obeyed as a universal traffic rule.
According to the traffic police most drivers when penalized for ignoring the rule plead for the ignorance. They claim that they were unaware that using high beam within the city is an offence. And there is flock of drivers who are educated but still ignore the inconvenience caused to others.
It is not yet too late. Make a habit to check your level of head light before gearing up your vehicle on road especially during the night. Use high beam only when you really need it. It is a good driving practice to turn your head light to low beam when you notice some other vehicle coming from the opposite direction. This would help them to judge the road and would offer a clean and clear visibility. Say NO to High Beam.
Republic means a country in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president. But sometimes I ask myself a question “Are we really Republic…?” The answer that comes is “NO”.
It’s said that government is for the people, by the people and of the people. But it doesn’t seem to me like this. If we would have been republic then our views won’t be overlooked, our voices won’t be tongue tied. This Republic Day I don’t feel like celebrating but mourning on our past activities.
Talking about the “Nirbhaya’s” case, it’s been more then a month and the culprits are not being punished. People say that it’s the fault of girls, just because of their outfits, but is it their fault that some “Idiots” can’t change their so called filthy mentality, its their they can’t control the beast in them. Can anyone one please tell me does a 3 yr old girl, or a 35 yr old housewife, or a 55 yr old aged women wear western clothes or is it the fault of the animal that can’t control himself. They say it takes two hands for a clap. I request these people please “Grow Up”, respect women instead of admonishing them, stating them guilty for everything, change your bloody mentality about them, and know their worth. Every person is given birth by a woman, whom he calls mother. I thought that may be after the Delhi case, we won’t hear of any rape cases but am sorry to say these mindless monsters haven’t stopped. Every day in newspapers we hear about these cases, but the bitter truth is that these culprits are not even punished, they easily get bailed. It’s even been said by the mother of one of the similar mishap victim that the police didn’t even registered their case, not until the pressure of media. Even after that, they were taking the culprits lightly. She mentioned in her statement that it was because the culprits has strong connections with the politicians. (TOI, 18th Jan. 2013)
Who the hell are we afraid of, representatives of our voice whom we have elected..? You tell me that by remaining silent are we giving justice to all those girls who have lost their lives, or who are still suffering, or who won’t be able to live a stable life. By not punishing the criminals rather let them roam free or enjoying their lives or making a family getting married. You tell me are we correct in this..? So I request you all, please take a stand. Now the time is for us “The Young Guns of India” to take a step change the laws, change the rules, change the people’s mentality, punish the culprits and give justice to women. And I think instead of just hanging the culprits they must be killed brutally, the same way they have destroyed lives of various girls and women.
I want to ask our government few questions: “Were you waiting for something like Nirbhaya’s case to happen to take some action against it..? What about all those girls who have suffered before it..? Was it a normal thing for you rather being an offence..? Why does it take too long for you to wake up?”
I am also ashamed on the way our government is treating Pakistan for the brutality they have shown since ages. They killed our soldiers, beheaded them, as well as firings and series of bombings in our country so far. And what we do is cancel our cricket matches with them, don’t allow them in the social meetings. Can’t we rather give them a proper “reply” the way they have treated us so far. They say that they hanged “Kasab”, but none of them who are self appreciating have noticed that he stayed in our country like a VIP, a celebrity for more than 4 years.
We are republic, but our country suffers from loopholes inside our own system. Why can’t we take a strong action against any external or internal brutality? Why can’t we just be a part of a cleaner democratic and republic India rather than living in a world of dirty politics, even when the people stand for a peaceful protest on roads, their own representatives issue orders to disperse the mob forcefully and brutally.
Please people, lets stand up for all the victims of Incredible India. Corruption is embedded in our system till depths. Its time for us now to take some action against all this, to make India worth calling “Mera Bharat Mahan”. And until that, even we are worthless. Let us not allow them to take advantage of our silence. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!
P.S.: By this article if I have hurt anyone’s feelings, I am sorry for it. No offense, but these are my independent views about our Republic India.
