AIEEE counselling dilemma?? – It just got easier with PassKarado.com

Pass Karado.com

Just imagine the dilemma of taking up an engineering College! wouldn’t it be a great advantage and comfort if someone is there to help you in choosing a college which can give wings to your flight?

Yes, www.passkarado.com is such a venture!

Just like the normal students cracking AIEEE, the members of passkarado had also faced many problems while choosing their college. They felt the need of a proper guide who does not fancy, but showcases the crystal clear scene. Taking up the initiative themselves, they started with passkarado NIT reviews to help others.

Students clear the AIEEE exam after great toil but even after cracking it, counselling turns the good mood onto its head by complicating the process of having to choose one’s college. Which is the best college I can get at my rank? which branch is better? which college has the best facilities and environment for the branch of my choice? and a lot many questions arise in the mind of students. For answers to these, students and their parents keep visiting various websites, read magazines and articles on counselling and analyze the ranking of various NITs provided on websites and ask friends and relatives about these. It happens that sometimes this information is misleading and when the students enter the college with their great aspirations they see a very different picture of the college from what they had assumed. This happens since these people unknowingly guide according to themselves and mostly these people have no connection with the college. How can a person sitting outside the class can tell what the teacher is teaching inside!! ? The only way is to ask the students who attended the class, isn’t it?

So, believing this idea, www.passkarado.com asked the students pursuing studies at NITs throughout the country to write reviews about their particular branch. In this they were asked about their branch’s positive and negative points, maximum and average packages, faculty, closing rank of their branch, labs, lab attendants, workshops, seminars, branch opportunities, collaborations with other societies and universities round the world, campus, college fests, attendance rules, etc. This information is available to the students free of cost on the website so that they can be guided by the proper mentors for them.

www.passkarado.com has 15 members in its team and they all are committed to help students. Along with the NIT reviews, passkarado is a big name among the websites providing old MNIT, RTU, RPSC papers and full study material. It also provides company and internship reviews for engineering graduates. It is soon going to publish RTU college reviews too and will keep working in the direction of delivering authentic and refined information for students.

So for all those who were hoping that there had to something that could rescue them out of their confusion , here’s something you can reply upon.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day

Canine of 9

Step into any shopping mall; choose any store; a shoe shop, a readymade garment outlet or any food joint. At most of the places you would find inspiring price tags like 49/-, 99/-, 199/- or 499/- etc. Means price ending with a digit 9.

There are two perspectives of the price tag that is ending with digit 9. Take an example of an item priced at Rs. 99/-. The first benefit, in terms of the consumer, that the selling price appears attractive and defined in only two digits. And it also suits his pocket. The customer is also happy as the item is within reach of a Rs 100/- note.

Second benefit, to the seller, as he actually sells it at Rs 100/- most of the time. Reasons could vary from time to time. A few could be:

  • He may not have a change of Re 1/-
  • Customer ignores taking back the change.
  • In lieu of Re 1/- many outlets including the big brands hand over a candy instead of a Re 1/- coin.

The customer also feels satisfied as he has got the value of his Re 1/-. Now think, if we buy a Re 1/- candy in bulk would it cost @ Re 1/-. No, absolutely not, it would be cheaper rather. Ultimately who is bearing the loss; it is only the end user, the customer.

Hold on for a moment and do a simple calculation. Let’s take an example of an outlet selling 50 such items a day for which balance Re 1/- is not returned:

Extra amount collected by the outlet

Per Day (50 x 1)               :                 Rs 50/-

Per Month (50 x 30)       :                 Rs 1,500/-

Per Year (1500 x 12)        :                 Rs 18,000/-

If this is a story of a single outlet then imagine the amount collected by several thousand outlets being operated in the country. This huge sum straight away turns into black money. This is a mere estimation and not the actual figure. They may be different, may be less or more.

Now let us hear the plea from the perspective of a business owner. Is he doing all this deliberately to earn profit out of the way? Many shopkeepers and outlet owners face problem getting adequate change from the market. They state that there always remains shortage of coins hence they are not able to return proper change to the customer.

Those who are providing change to the customers are buying coins in black from the market. According to a general survey people are selling coins at a margin of 20% to 25%. In other words you need to pay Rs 120/- to buy coins of Rs 100/-. This is absolutely illegal. I think one day our stock market and banks would get bound to enlist the buying and selling rates from INR to INR. 😛

This simple Re 1/- issue is expanding its jaws wider and wider and its canines are getting longer day by day. There is only one way to get rid of this problem if the practice of returning a product instead of currency should be banned and declared illegal. A ban should also be imposed on commission agents who are involved in buying and selling coins. Strict action should be taken against them if found guilty of the same. Governing bodies and RBI should ensure that coins of different denominations are issued to banks regularly so anyone can obtain it as required. Next time when you visit any outlet think for while buying a product having a price tag ending with digit 9.

Have a Happy Shopping.

Hero of the Age – Maharana Pratap

Maharana Pratap

Today is Maharana Pratap Jayanti, birth anniversary of the great ruler of Mewar; a king who never got the Crown and the privilege to rule a state, but who remained king only on papers in his whole life; the Hindu ruler of Mewar, who is considered as the best example of bravery among the Rajput rulers of India and by whom all Mewar people are inspired.

Pratap singh, who is more famous as Maharana Pratap was the eldest son of Maharana Udai Singh, founder of Udaipur, and Maharani Jayawanti. Born on Jyestha Sudi third of Vikram Samvant 1597, he did his education and mastered in the skills of using arms and weapons at a very young age. He also learned horse riding during the time. He was married to Rajkumari Ajabade at the age of 17.

It was the year 1567 when Akbar, the great Mughal emperor, conquered  Chittorgarh, which was the capital of Maharana Udai Singh that time. Udai Singh’s followers and Generals of the kingdom advised him to abandon Chittorgarh. Udai Singh then moved to the valley of Aravali ranges and laid the foundation of the present Udaipur city. He wanted to give the crown of the kingdom to his beloved son Jagmal Singh, but his seniors and advisers wanted Pratap to be the king as per the customs.  And this was the beginning of competition, struggle and hardship for Maharana Pratap.

Maharana pratap never accepted Mughals as the rulers of his own country India, and for this very reason, he never bowed in front of Akbar and fought with him till his last breath. Meanwhile almost all of the other Rajput chiefs had surrendered to Akbar including Maharana’s own brothers. Akbar sent many proposals to Pratap, seeking some sort of peaceful adjustment that he had concluded with the other kings, but Pratap refused every proposal of Mughals to maintain his self esteem and honor. Maharana continued his struggle from the Aravali valleys from where he harassed the large force of Mughals and ensured that they were kept out of the valley during this crucial time.

Haldigahti Battle is a historical event in the Indian history, and in the annuals of Rajput and Mughal kingdoms. It was this battle in which Chetak, the beloved horse of Maharana Pratap essayed many brave moves but finally collapsed due to some critical injuries. In this battle, Pratap was also supported by the bhil tribes of the surrounding areas; the great contribution the bhil tribe in this battle is remembered till date and they are given an honor of contribution by the rajputs of mewar regimen. There was a significant impression of this war on the Mughal army. This battle is considered to be the first milestone of victory over the Mughal Emperors.

Pratap died at the age of 57, in the year 1597, because of multiple injuries in an accident during hunting. In his complete journey, the main goal of his life was not to surrender in front of the Mughals and even while lying in the lap of death he made his son and successors swear to maintain eternal conflicts against the Mughals.

Maharana Pratap is the best projected model of bravery, freedom fighter and patriotism against the Mughal rulers in India. It is because of this great fighter, that Mewar got the appreciation and honor to be the only kingdom to merge its state with the independent India. Sardar vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Union Home Minister said that “If any ruler in India had any right to claim of independence it was Mewar, which gladly and readily merged with the Indian Union saying that it was fulfillment of 13 centuries of their mission but for Mewar no other ruler has that right.”

This is a great honor for all of us to be the son of the land to which the great Maharana Pratap belongs. He lived his whole life with great courage and self respect, never bowing down in front of any difficult situation. We being the resident of Rana ji’s Udaipur should follow the same footsteps and live our lives with the same bravery and self esteem. Jai Mewar!!

Is it only about Growth and Money, Honey?

All About Money

Last week was a time to rejoice as I had some of my old friends visiting me and then I was also out of town for a couple of days and that was again a great opportunity to catch up with some old friends. These friends of mine, most of them Udaipurites, have made a name for themselves in their corporate lives, in the bustling metros of Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, London and beyond, all in the echelons of top management and all super successful in life with super growth and super money.

But during our get together, more often than none, the discussions that took place all revolved around our “Good Old Days” and that too in our very own Udaipur. I gradually found out that the memories of serene lakes, the envelop of the Aravalis all around, the lush greenery especially just after the monsoons, a stroll around Fatehsagar and snacks from the stalls that dot the lake have formed such an ineradicable mark in the minds of my super successful friends that these precious memory easily outweigh the “Growth and Money” that they have amassed in these years.

A friend from Mumbai, who is now a top honcho with a leading Investment Bank put it aptly by saying that though he might have ample money and power now but what “he misses in life is life itself”; Money galore but hardly any time to spend it with his family. What is precious is not wealth but quality time with family and friends, which is such a scarce commodity! He even admitted that he envies me for being in Udaipur, away from the maddening run against time of a large mass of Humanity, probably in the same way I envy his growth.

The problem with us humans is that we hardly appreciate the things that we have with us and look and compare with others and think of ourselves as being “have-nots”. Though to keep a track of others is not bad per say, as it drives you to be better in life, but to continuously ape somebody else may lead you to bugger up your present, in search of an elusive future.

The proverbial “Rat Race” which starts as soon as a child starts his educational journey and intensifies over the years and culminates only when it becomes too late for the person to realize that he has been running all his life for a better future and in the process has compromised on his family’s and his own life and neglected on the small things in life that actually make it precious, like a simple walk in the rain or seeing kids grow, their first steps and their innocent naughtiness.

But, as the wise men have said, “You cannot have the Cake and eat it too”, you too have to have tradeoffs in life and that might involve you taking decisions that might lead you to breaking down bridges to the way of being “Super successful” and amassing unthinkable money. But at the end of the day, the wise men have also said, “Its All “bout Money, Honey!”, so that makes a tradeoff very tricky and very personal (oh, these wise men!)

Hence, the debate on ‘Is it only about money, honey?’ goes on and on……

Let’s Admit it… Udaipur!!!!

Lets Admit It Udaipur

Hi Guys,

Every now and then we hang around our City Udaipur and there are a few points we all will Admit. Check out these 15 Findings I made, Comment below if you admit many of those. 🙂

  1. We all have slowed down our two wheelers some meters away from Chetak circle just to check the four sides for the traffic police.

  1. We never find our vehicle in one shot in celebration mall’s basement. We have to do ‘search & rescue operation’ to find it.

  1. The first time when we were going to Cornett (Silence restaurant), we thought it would never come or it doesn’t exist.

  1. Atleast once we all got lost in easy day market in trying to find the exit.

  1. We all wish that the vada paav stall at lok kala mandal could remain open for the whole day.

  1. Whatever be the season is we always feel a bit chill at the “FS’s Paal’s starting gate to white palace hotel” road.

  1. We all have tried hard to listen to the radio which gets played in the modern road lights installed ( in a large quantity) at FS.

  1. Most of us prefer to refuel our vehicles from the 2nd petrol pump in front the Church as compared to the first one over there.

  1. We all avoid eye contacts with traffic police when we wait for the signal lights to turn green and inside we pray that signal countdown should get fast somehow.

  1. The bansi area of FS, we all wish it should never end when riding from one end to another.

  1. If we go to celeb mall after a long time definitely there would be one new stall, shop or an outlet, which was not there in our last visit.

  1. We always try to overtake the people walking ahead of us at the FS’s  Paal, as if a marathon is going on.

  1. Sometime it gets awkward to wait outside those three ATMs (Sbbj, sbi and Karnataka bank) which are there just before chetak circle near hathipole police station, when they are engaged by others.

  1. Whatever be the time is, there would always be an (or a group of) employee of ‘Big Bazaar’ enjoying his Poha at sukhadiya circle’s Poha wala.

  1. And finally let’s admit it…Our UDAIPUR is Awesome.
