प्रतापनगर चाैराहा पार कर उदयपुर-एयरपोर्ट मार्ग पर आने-जाने वाले लोगों काे मिलेगी राहत।
शहरवासियों को अब प्रतापनगर चौराहे पर जाम का सामना नहीं करना पड़ेगा। शुक्रवार सुबह 10 बजे से यूआईटी ने चौराहे के भुवाणा-एकलिंगपुरा मार्ग पर फ्लाईओवर से वाहनों की आवाजाही शुरू करवा दी है। वैसे अभी डामरीकरण का काम बाकी है, जो की माैसम साफ हाेने के बाद करवाया जाना है। यूआईटी सचिव के अनुसार सप्ताह भर में डामर का काम भी पूरा हो जायेगा और इसी के साथ महीने भर में पेवर का कार्य भी पूरा करने का लक्ष्य है।
भुवाणा से एकलिंगपुरा रूट पर दिनभर में करीब 8500 से ज्यादा बड़े वाहन गुजरते हैं। चारों तरफ से वाहन आने पर दिनभर में कई बार घंटों जाम के हालात रहते हैं। फ्लाईओवर के शुरू होने से प्रतापनगर चाैराहा पार कर उदयपुर-एयरपोर्ट मार्ग पर आने-जाने वाले लोगों काे बड़ी राहत मिलेगी।
अप्रैल, 2019 में शुरू हुए इस फ्लाईओवर का लॉकडाउन के पहले करीब 75 प्रतिशत काम हो चुका था। फिर काेराेना संक्रमण काल के चलते यूआईटी काे काम बंद करना पड़ा। उसके बाद मॉडिफाइड लाॅकडाउन में 21 अप्रैल से यूआईटी ने दाेबारा काम शुरू करवाया।
To get rid of severe traffic congestion at one of the city’s busiest road, Sevashram and Thokar Chouraha, UIT has proposed to build a flyover from Ayad Puliya to BN College Road.
The flyover will start from Ayad Puliya which connects Sevashram Chouraha to Thokar and end near Dalal Petrol Pump located at BN College Road. The Urban Improvement Trust of Udaipur has already started working on the design for the same.
The flyover will ease the traffic congestion at both the Chouraha. Also, people travelling from Dabok Airport can avoid getting stuck in the traffic at Sevashram. Now, the proposed flyover is likely to help ease the growing traffic situation and make the commute to the airport quicker.
In a meeting held at UIT Udaipur, UIT Chairman and Udaipur District Collector Ms Anandhi investigated the plan and check the feasibility of the project.
With an aim to ensure better traffic management and create awareness about rules and regulations, the Udaipur Police has engaged student traffic volunteers in Udaipur city on an experimental basis.
This Student Traffic Volunteer Scheme will be inaugurated on Friday, 24 January by Traffic DSP, Sudha Palawat and TI, Netrapal Singh in presence of IG Binita Thakur and Udaipur SP Kailash Chandra Bishnoi.
After imparting proper training, the district police will be deploying 30 boys and girls initially on a trial basis. After the feedback, the police department will deploy the students at various locations during the Sadak Suraksha Saptah which will begin from 4th February.
The Student Volunteer Scheme was introduced in Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack in January 2017 encouraging college and university students to assist police personnel in regulating traffic.
शहर में दहलीगेट चौराहे पर अंडरपास बनाने की कवायद जल्द ही शुरू की जा सकती है। इसके तहत दहलीगेट से बापू बजा़र को लिंक करने के लिए बांस वाली गली से अंडरपास बनाये जाने की तैयारी जल्द ही शुरू की जाएगी। नगर विकास प्रन्यास, उदयपुर शहर परिवहन निगम, यातायात पुलिस और उदयपुर नगर निगम की हुई बैठक में ये सुझाव सामने आया।
इस संयुक्त बैठक में शहर के सभी प्रमुख चौराहो से ट्रैफिक के दबाव को करने के लिए सुझाव लिए गए। चर्चा के दौरान यह बात सामने आयी की शहर में यातायात का सबसे अधिक दबाव देहलीगेट पर होता है। यहाँ पर टाउनहॉल, नेहरू बाज़ार, अश्विनी बाज़ार, बापू बाज़ार, आदि हर तरफ से आने वाले वाहनों का जाम लग जाता है। इसलिए इस चौराहे पर अंडरपास बनाने का कार्य सबसे पहले किया जायेगा।
सुझाव के अनुसार, बांस वाली गली में अंडरपास बनाया जायेगा जो टाउनहॉल से होकर बापू बज़ार तक पहुंचेगा। इससे शास्त्री सर्किल और सूरजपोल से बापू बाज़ार जाने वाले वाहनों को देहलीगेट चौराहे पर नहीं रुकना पड़ेगा। इससे देहलीगेट चौराहे पर वाहनों का दबाव काफी हद तक काम हो जायेगा।
गैरतलब है की राज्य सरकार ने प्रदेश बजट के दौरान उदयपुर शहर की ट्रैफिक समस्या समाधान की लिए, 50 करोडे रुपये के बजट की घोषणा की थी। उसी के तहत युइटी ने डिटेल्ड प्रोजेक्ट प्लानिंग करने की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है। बताया जाता है की इसमें जनता के सुझाव भी लिए जायेंगे।

आज हम अपनी सिटी को Smart City और Tourists Hub बुलाते हैं। लेकिन क्या वाकई उदयपुर tourist friendly है? एक जगह से दूसरी जगह पहुँचने के लिए आधे-आधे घंटे तक गाड़ियों के बीच में खड़े रहना पड़ता है। उदयपुर को हमारी gormint एक टूरिस्ट स्पॉट की तरह डेवेलप करना चाह रही है, पर क्या प्रशासन को फसती हुई गाड़िया और unmanaged चौराहे दिखाई नहीं दे रहें?
Tourists के अलावा भी लोग रहते हैं यहाँ भाई !!!
एक cute scene बताते हैं आपको। एक लेडी पुलिस ने एक भाई साहब को चौराहे पर हाथ दिखाते हुए रोकने की कोशिश की क्योंकि वो मना करने के बावजूद अपनी मारुती चलाये जा रहे थे। तभी एक मोहक मुस्कान देते हुए अंकल जी बोले, “अरे मेडम…” और धन्नाते हुए गाड़ी आगे ले गये।

टूरिस्ट मन चाही जगहों पर गाड़ियाँ फसाते देखे जा सकते हैं; और लोकल लोग टूरिस्ट को गालियाँ देते देखे जा सकते है।

It is a terrible thing for people coming to the city to get stuck amidst the unmanaged traffic in Udaipur. Plus, the city is not just tourists, we also live here and we are getting stuck here! There should be some way to decongest this!?
Are we really growing? Tourists are flocking to our city, which is, perhaps a good thing as the market would grow, our city’s economy would hike and all sort of blah blah blah. But on the other hand, there is so much congestion on our roads these days, the pollution levels are raising in our green city and the traffic police and all the governing authorities are not even giving it a look.
Why because चलने दो जैसा चल रहा है?

We all are very well aware about the vulnerable traffic conditions of Udaipur. There is no Red Light, No Zebra Crossing, No Safety Concerns for drivers and other traffic on road that are using it. Not even pedestrians are aware about the proper use of road and the traffic that is running on the road. For the worst traffic situation in the city a little bit credit goes to those who are not driving or nor using the road as pedestrians. Then who are they? The credit goes to the road side stalls and other shop owners who encroach the property and prove a hurdle for the running traffic. There are many reasons for such horrible traffic in Udaipur.
This is the scenario for the day and during the night the other half of the problem comes into the picture. But, what is that? No doubt, you might have experienced many times when you had driven a bike or another two wheeler during night. The focusing high beam lights of other vehicles penetrate straight away into your eyes and leave you blind almost. You are left with no choice to stop aside or slow down your vehicle. Let us know the fact whether it is really necessary for all of us to drive using high beam lights.
I remember when I started learning driving I was always told the dos and don’ts to keep in mind while driving. One of them was No High Beam. In metro cities like Delhi the drivers are penalized for driving using high beam. If driving using high beam is an offence then why they are provided in vehicles. The answer is very straight forward and simple. Do you face the same driving scenario and same driving conditions every day? No, and accordingly we reciprocate to the situation we have to face ahead.
High beams are not meant for use inside the city. They are supposed to be used where there are multiple lanes of traffic and there is least chance of blinding drivers coming from the opposite direction. High beams are made to provide clarity of view from long distance. Thus vehicles moving at high speed must be able to see the road and hurdles on road if there are any from a long distance. This would enable them to decide and have better control on their vehicle. Stopping distance vary according to the speed of the vehicle. High beams should only be used where there are no street lights and secondly where vehicles move at a high speed. Both these factors relate to highway traffic and is not meant for the traffic running within a city. NO to high beam head light within the city should be respected and obeyed as a universal traffic rule.
According to the traffic police most drivers when penalized for ignoring the rule plead for the ignorance. They claim that they were unaware that using high beam within the city is an offence. And there is flock of drivers who are educated but still ignore the inconvenience caused to others.
It is not yet too late. Make a habit to check your level of head light before gearing up your vehicle on road especially during the night. Use high beam only when you really need it. It is a good driving practice to turn your head light to low beam when you notice some other vehicle coming from the opposite direction. This would help them to judge the road and would offer a clean and clear visibility. Say NO to High Beam.
Just a few days back I started off my bike and drove though a busy road in Udaipur. Weather was quite chill that morning and I had packed up myself thoroughly. On a crossing I stopped my bike at red signal. After two or three seconds later a car stopped behind me. And to my surprise the car owner started honking. He was asking me to give way to cross the road. I had no choice so gave him the way and he started crossing in the red signal itself. The other vehicles and two wheelers also followed the suite. Meanwhile a girl, pedestrian, was also crossing the road and her eyes, ears and hands all were occupied in her cell phone. And she had no idea of how many vehicles were approaching to her. Anyways, she escaped from any mishap. The next moment the signal turned green and I left to my way.
This is a common story, almost every day we see at our roads and crossing of Udaipur. In my case nothing vulnerable happened, but is everyone lucky like that girl who managed herself and safely crossed the road. You might have seen on a TV channel like Discovery and Animal Planet when a flock of millions of birds fly and migrate. They fly keeping a minimum distance but they do not collide with each other. They fly in sync and remain safe. This is not the case with humans. We cannot drive on road in a tandem. We have got different vehicles, different speed limits, different direction and a different purpose to drive. We cannot be in rhythm on road. Due to this diversity in our driving habits; traffic rules were made to keep a control on us. Situation becomes worse when we do not follow them even.
When things fall out of place then another layer is laid down to teach us a lesson – how to behave and how to be a good human being. The initiatives are then taken by the Government and different NGO’s which are committed to improve the statistics of road accidents that happen every year. Road Safety Week is an example of such initiative.
The Road Safety Week is an initiative that is being observed every year from 1 Jan to 7 Jan. It is initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The National Safety Council supplement the efforts of the Ministry, the Council from the year 2011 has started producing promotional materials like cloth banners, safety posters, pocket guides, safety films, etc to help its Members / Patrons to observe Road Safety Week effectively.
The state government at times modifies the date set by the Ministry and they declare a new date for the Road Safety Week in the state. This year the 24th Road Safety Week would be observed from 16th Jan 20 22nd Jan in Rajasthan. The Transport Department, Government of Rajasthan in collaboration with Traffic Police and other NGOs would work together to make this Road Safety Week successful. Many different activities would take place during the week to impart traffic and traffic rules awareness among the mass.
In the city like Jaipur the helmet was made compulsory a decade back, followed by helmet for pillion and they have also planned to launch the penalties for pedestrians who do not follow the rules on road. We, the people of Udaipur must take and learn the lesson from Jaipur and we should ask our self where we stand in terms of following the traffic rules and what driving sense we have on road.
Although it’s not too late yet, learn something new and enhance your knowledge during this Road Safety Week. Be an active participant and also help the administration to make this week a success.
