Valentines: A day of Love or a Week of Business?

Valentine Business

Valentines – A day of virtual love and real presents is just a few hours away from us. I am pretty sure that all the beautiful ladies are too much excited to know how much their soul mates love them and also the awaiting poor lovers to make their girls realize that she can’t get a better one than them 😀

Saint Valentines Day ‘14th February’, now shortened to Valentines Day is traditionally a day honouring one early Martyr named Saint Valentine who had performed a miracle by healing the blind daughter of his jailer with his sentimental love (as it is said in the stories). His love is highly remarkable and preciously priceless. So all the Romeos who take him as an Idol, I would just make you aware that today even a single rose stick, which comes at 10-20 Rupees is priced at 50 Rupees during the week. Afterall, few believe that “love can’t be measured in money”, or even some talk about “if he loves me, he will surely buy that for me

Hum jite ek baar hai, ek baar marte hai, shaadi bhi ek baar hoti hai AUR pyaar ek hi baar hota hai” is the scene which is being played on almost every channel for this romantic festival. This famous dialouge of Shahrukh Khan from his most famous movie ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ provoke lovers to show their intense love in one go :D. To mention, that one go is the whole week starting from 7th February each year 😉

If love is true, every day is a celebration. You don’t need a specific day to say ‘I Love You’ to your aficionado, not a specific day to buy a rose or a teddy bear costing thousands to let your sweetheart know your hundreds of feelings.

After observing all in love couples and profitable business days, our so dear marketing experts aka ‘connectors of love’ i-e The Network Providers add the SMS charges to the expense list of all the lovebirds. As everyone believes, more exchanging of texts, more is the love flowing between the two hearts. ‘Love is mad and Valentines is high time to show your madness’ was the most cunning statement made by the owner of a gift shop to a teenage lover, just to increase the sales. But the teenagers are now a days moving on a sentimental, though wrong path, where they don’t even mind to carve out their love’s names on their hands using blades or any other weapon. I am confident enough that he won’t do the same on Mother’s Day.

Conclusion just says that a costly bouquet, an expensive 200 Rupees greeting card, a lavish dinner, gifts including chocolates, roses, teddy bears, and pouring in huge volumes of money doesn’t prove how much a person loves you. However, it does feel special but fades up after a little span of time. One can make each day special as Valentines by doing little things for each other- the surprise meets, cooking, writing letters expressing what makes them love their partner. By this post, I am not against purchasing any gifts or spending any money for your beloved, but it is always the love behind the present that makes it valuable, and not the price tag of the present.

May you have a great day ahead and may all the commitments be a success. Happy Valentines Day to all.

  • No telephone lines so no dial up and no telephone bills to pay.
  • FUP is not applicable on any unlimited plans.
  • No disconnections.

Disadvantages

  • DNS server issues- They uses their own DNS server so cached sites load fasts but new sites takes long time to load (you can’t use any other DNS ).
  •  Limited connectivity and poor signal strength out of the core city.
  •  At many places plans higher than 1 Mbps require extra equipments which doubles the installation cost.

Plans – Dial Up Tariff

Plans – Cable Net Tariff

In our Opinion:

It is expensive than everyone else but it is the only one in Udaipur that provides WiMax.

BSNL, Udaipur

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is the largest public sector Internet Service Provider Company with more than 17 Lakhs subscribers providing Internet under name of Sancharnet and more than 8.09 million customers using its broadband connection.

Advantages-

  • Wide range of plans from unlimited to limited data transfer plans.
  • With unlimited plans other services like free Email Ids, one or two Static IPs.

Disadvantages-

  • Though Services are improved yet it is slow in problem solving.
  • FUP plans are applicable on many plans.

Plans –

In our Opinion:

This is the most economical and the most used internet service amongst all.

But the main problem is that for those customers it works fine, it’s simply wow but for few unlucky ones it’s like hell and remains inactive for months.

To improve their services, they handed over the complaint department to a Private company which is quite effective and tries hard to solve the problem same day or the very next day.

Tata Photon Plus

After a huge success of Tata Photon, Tata launched a new plug and surf device with 2GB expandable memory named Tata Photon Plus. It provides up to 3.1Mbps (downlink speed) and upto1.8 Mbps (uplink speed). The device costs only Rs.1199/- and runs on Windows 98/2000/XP/7.

Plans

In our Opinion: The speed never reaches 3.1Mbps, yet sometime in a day it crosses near about 150KBps  and the FUP policy ceases the speed to 20KBps  after data transfer limit exceeds, too slow..

If you need a portable connectivity, it is one of the good options available.

——

MTS MBlaze

An economical plug and surf device by MTS is earning popularity these days. It provides speed up to 3.1Mbps.

Plans-

In our Opinion: It is reasonable in Rs. 899 but the speed fluctuates very much like from 50 KBps to 200KBps.

——

Reliance Netconnect

Netconnect by Reliance is both postpaid and prepaid and offers a large variety of plans, so you can choose that suits you most.

Plans

In our Opinion:

Reliance is another alternate to Tata Photon Plus. And they provide wide range of plans to suit the customers.

——-

Note:The actual speed of Tata Photon Plus, MTS Blaze and Reliance Netconnect differs from what they mention. According to them it depends on several factors like time of the day, web page accessed, no. of users etc.

To enjoy 3G speed (speed upto 21.1 Mbps), mobile companies viz Idea, Vodafone, Airtel, Reliance, BSNL, Tata Docomo are providing 3G data cards. These all companies also provide 2G data plans.

  • Idea- 1GB @ Rs.95
  • Vodafone- 2GB @ Rs.98
  • Tata Docomo- 2GB @ Rs.65
  • BSNL- 2GB @ Rs.98
  • Airtel- 1GB @ Rs.98

Although unlocked 7.2Mbps 3G data cards are available in the local market under Rs.1500 that also supports 2G data plans. These data cards are very useful for the customers who don’t want high speed of Internet browsing all the time, they can flexibly recharge either 3G or 2G data plan on the same sim card according to their use and portability comes Free.

Advantages of Unlocked Data Cards:

  • 2G or 3G – Choice is yours: You can choose for 2G or 3G data plans on the same number and even can change the plan from 3G to 2G or vice versa by simply recharging that kind of internet plan.
  • Anytime you can switch between service providers for more economic plans like from Airtel to Vodafone by just changing sim.
  • You can also opt for 2G- 3G data plans of 2-3 days validity as per need.
  • Though roaming is free in several service providers, but if yours is charging then no need to pay additional charges, buy that area’s local sim and use internet.

Plans for Docomo 3G-

Plans for Idea 3G-

Plans for BSNL 3G-

In our Opinion:

BSNL provides the most reasonable plans but there is no one who seems to be responsible for providing good quality of services.

Plans for Vodafone 3G-

Plans for Airtel 3G-

Plans for Reliance 3G-

All above mentioned feedbacks are our own experiences; users can get even better or worse services.

Pamper or Art: A Beautiful Jaipur Literature Festival Report

Jaipur Literature Festival

The Jaipur Literature Festival(JLF) – A grand event… with grander publicity & episode grandiosity! As the name depicted & as the description lamented, the event had captured for itself an already starred attention. But vaguely & sadly, the end of the event saw a criticism nationally as well as internationally in the literary world.

Though there may be an unending debate over the nature of the fest & how it was enacted. Somewhat (in petty senses) a successful event commercially but still just to acquaint our readers with the ultimate reasons of the literary & the journalistic criticism, we describe here some points :-

First of all, a Literature Festival organized in India without any writer of Indian language! Leave others, not even a single writer of Hindi language. French sessions can on a general basis be of no use or leisure to the common Indian folk!

Secondly, the fest basically lacked in the presence of “authentic” writers, particularly the current international fictional faces of Indian Literature. It was more of a celebrity pamper than a literary directorate. Most of the guests invited were those people who belonged to film industry, politics or other areas; and later had written a book or two by choice.

Chetan Bhagat is still a commercial attraction (an IIT-D, IIM-A graduate will always be!) No doubt, his height of success is not that easy to achieve but why to forget those 3 Bookers (Aravinda Adiga, Arundhati Roy, Kiran Desai) that came to India in the last 15 years; the quality of writing clearly demarcates the persisting difference between a writer & an engineer.

And the prominent one, the major attraction in fact 😉 the Salman Rushdie controversy! I must share it that Salman Rushdie has been awarded the “Booker of Bookers Award” for his book “The Midnight Children” twice. That is, he is till date considered the best awarded writer in the world. Any writer may have tentative thoughts but if a person of his status after achieving such a long & class experience has given written form to his ideas then those definitely deserve to be given a view. First an invitation, then asked not to come & at last a video conferencing under restrictions!

A literary issue was converted into a religious issue on the grounds of political benefits & losses. No comments over religious sentiments, but how many know that what has been written actually in his book!! How can you, when it is already banned! People’s justification lies only on what the leaders say. And the world knows how much they need to be trusted! Literature should be seen in literary terms, at least for the sake of this art. The problem is that we misdifferentiate some things, rest it is in itself a big beautiful world.

And lastly & very simply, 🙂 if it was to be an all-English show; as a part of the lavish Indian class of English-reading youngsters, we had expected our stars- Nicholas Sparks (A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, Nights in Rodanthe); Cecelia Ahern (P.S. I Love You) & Paulo Coelho (Brida, The Alchemist, etc.) to “preach” us but no such loved name! Even a single of these would have made the day of millions. But regrets of expecting them to be invited!

In all, a big name, but remained bereft of a worthy judgement ……

PVR Cinemas Udaipur- दर्शकों की जेब पर डाका !!

PVR Udaipur
