It’s a feeling when school and college kids hang out with their friends every evening giving the place its youthfulness. It a feeling of togetherness when you find people of different color, caste, city, country, and age that no matter what there’s this place that binds everyone together.

So in case you’re not ready to feel all of that, Fatehsagar or even Udaipur is not the place to have a visit to.

Above all these reasons, Udaipur is a city of love and compassion. It’s a city which makes everyone fall in love with itself. You will often hear people saying that ‘there’s no other city such as Udaipur’ and that is quite true, I tell you. Love it or hate it but you just won’t be able to forget the city.

उदयपुर में जन्मी ऐन्द्रिता रे जल्द ही बॉलीवुड डेब्यू करने जा रही है, एक नज़र उनके सफ़र पर…

ऐन्द्रिता रे, कन्नड़ फिल्म इंडस्ट्री की सुपरस्टार, अब जल्द ही बॉलीवुड में एंट्री लेने जा रही है। आपको यह जानकर आश्चर्य भी होगा और ख़ुशी भी कि ऐन्द्रिता रे का जन्म उदयपुर में हुआ है। ऐन्द्रिता, कन्नड़ फिल्म ‘मनासारे’ में निभाए अपने दमदार करैक्टर ‘देविका’ के लिए जानी जाती है। इस फिल्म को क्रिटिक्स ने काफ़ी पसंद किया था, उन्होंने इसके लिए 4 अवार्ड्स भी जीते। 5 बार की फिल्मफेयर अवार्ड नॉमिनेटेड एक्ट्रेस के उदयपुर से कन्नड़ फिल्म इंडस्ट्री होते हुए बॉलीवुड तक के सफ़र पर एक नज़र।

शुरूआती जीवन और बैकग्राउंड:

ऐन्द्रिता का जन्म उदयपुर के एक बंगाली परिवार में हुआ। इनका शुरूआती बचपन उदयपुर की झीलों और पहाड़ियों को देखते हुए निकला। पिता ऐ.के. रे के इंडियन एयर फाॅर्स में प्रोस्थोदोंटिस्ट (डेंटल प्रोस्थेटिक्स) के पद पर होने की वजह से उन्हें मुंबई शिफ्ट होना पड़ा। इंडियन एयर फाॅर्स में होने के कारण अक्सर तबादले होने की वजह से अलग-अलग शहरों में रहना पड़ा। आख़िर में पूरा परिवार बैंगलोर आकर रहने लग गया।

डेब्यू और ब्रेकथ्रू:

ऐन्द्रिता रे फैशन कोरियोग्राफर एम्.एस. श्रीधर की स्टूडेंट रही है। सबसे पहले उन्हें कन्नड़ फिल्म ‘जैकपोट’ के एक गाने में देखा गया। जबकि एक्टिंग करियर 2008 में आई ‘मेरावैंगे’ से शुरू हुआ। फिल्म तो ज्यादा कुछ कमाल नहीं कर पाई लेकिन ऐन्द्रिता की एक्टिंग और डांसिंग क्राफ्ट को rediff.com जैसी वेबसाइट ने काफी सराहा। उसी साल एक और कन्नड़ फिल्म में इनका केमियो भी था।

शरुआती सफलता और उसके बाद की कहानी:

ऐन्द्रिता की 2009 में एक और फिल्म आई नाम था ‘वायुपुत्र’ जिसमें इनके अपोजिट थे चिरंजीवी सर्जा। इसके बाद इनकी एक और सफल मूवी परदे पर आई ‘लव गुरु’। लेकिन 2009 में आई ‘मनासारे’ ने ऐन्द्रिता के जीवन को पलट कर रख दिया। इस फिल्म ने ऐन्द्रिता को रातों-रात कन्नड़ फिल्म इंडस्ट्री का स्टार बना दिया। न सिर्फ कन्नड़ फिल्मों यहाँ तक की ‘मनासारे’ की सफलता की गूँज ‘फिल्मफेयर अवार्ड्स’ तक भी गई और ऐन्द्रिता बेस्ट एक्ट्रेस की केटेगरी में नोमिनेट हुई। इसके बाद तो ऐन्द्रिता के आगे ढेर सारी फिल्मों की लाइन लग गई। 2010 में आई एक और फिल्म ‘वीरा परम्परे’ भी बॉक्स ऑफिस पर कामयाब हुई और एक बार फिर ऐन्द्रिता ‘फिल्मफेयर अवार्ड फॉर बेस्ट एक्ट्रेस’ के लिए नोमिनेट हुई। इसी साल इनकी एक पैरेलल बॉलीवुड फिल्म भी आई जिसका नाम ‘अ फ्लैट’ था। लेकिन ये इनका बॉलीवुड डेब्यू नहीं था।

करियर के शुरुआती दौर में मिली ग्रैंड सफलता की चमक अगले दो साल में फीकी पड़ती नज़र आई। लगातार 3-4 फिल्मों के फ्लॉप हो जाने के कारण इसका असर उनके करियर पर भी दिखने लगा। इस वजह से उन्हें तेलुगु सिनेमा और बंगाली सिनेमा की ओर रुख़ करना पड़ा। हालाँकि इन दोनों जगह किया इनका ये काम सराहा गया और एक बार फिर ये कन्नड़ फिल्मों में लौट आई।

2018 इनके लिए ख़ास साबित होने जा रहा है। बंगाली सिनेमा के मशहूर डायरेक्टर राज चंदा की फिल्म में नज़र आएंगी और साथ ही साथ ये अपना बॉलीवुड डेब्यू भी कर रही है। इस फिल्म में अरबाज़ खान इनके अपोजिट होंगे जिसकी शूटिंग स्विट्जरलैंड में शुरू हो चुकी है। हम सभी उम्मीद करते है कि उनकी ये फिल्म बॉक्स ऑफिस पर अच्छा करें और उदयपुर का नाम रोशन हो।

10 साल के अपने छोटे से करियर में पांच बार फिल्मफेयर जैसे अवार्ड्स के लिए नोमिनेट होना उनके अपने काम के प्रति लगन को दर्शाता है। ऐन्द्रिता रे का उदयपुर से होना शायद बहुत कम ही लोग जानते होंगे। इसलिए हमारी कोशिश थी कि ऐसे लोगों में ऐन्द्रिता को शामिल किया जाए जिन्हें शहर के लोग कम और देश-विदेश के लोग ज्यादा जानते है। ये हमारे शहर के लिए गर्व की बात है।

यह उदयपुर का सबसे प्राचीन एवं प्रमुख गुफा मंदिर है, आध्यात्म की दृष्टि से भी इसका प्रमुख स्थान है, इसे “उदयपुर का अमरनाथ” भी कहा जाता है। यह प्राचीन गुफा उदयपुर के बिलिया गाँव में ओड़ा पर्वत के शिखर पर स्थित है, जो की तितरडी गाँव के पास है| यहाँ भगवान शिव का प्राचीन मंदिर है, ऊपर पहाड़ पर यह मंदिर बड़े ही विस्तृत क्षेत्र में फैला हुआ है, इस गुफा की एक खासियत यह भी हें की इस तक चढ़ाई का रास्ता टेढ़ा-मेढ़ा हैं जो की आगन्तुको को अति आनंदित करता है।

यह एक गहरी गुफा है जिसके दुसरे छोर पर शिवलिंग हें, इस गुफा में प्रवेश करते समय हमें हजारों चमकादड़े गुफा की दीवारों पर उल्टी लटकती हुई दिख जाती हैं, साथ ही पत्थर के प्राकृतिक सर्प भी दीवारों पर दिख जाते हैं। इस मंदिर से अक्सर अखंड मंत्रोचार की आवाज़े आती रहती हैं कुछ विशेष अवसरों पर पूरा पहाड़ सुन्दरकाण्ड, भजनों व मंत्रो से गुंजायमान रहता हैं। हर माह यहाँ 48 घंटो का अनवरत जाप होता है।

इस गुफा का भ्रमण करने से एक विशिष्ट आध्यात्मिक आनंद का अनुभव होता है तथा यहाँ के सम्पूर्ण मंदिर परिसर में छाई शांति हमें खुद में एक उर्जा का अनुभव करवाती हैं। इस गुफा के अंदर एक और छोटी गुफा है जो की एक रहस्यमयी गुफा है, यह दूसरी गुफा इतनी बड़ी और लम्बी है की इसके दुसरे छोर पर आज तक कोई नहीं पहुच सका हैं, बड़े बुजुर्ग कहते हें की यह दूसरी गुफा काशी तक जाती हैं।

इस मंदिर का एक आश्चर्यजनक प्रभाव यह है की जब हम पहाड़ की चढाई से थककर गुफा में पहुचते हैं तो गुफा में कुछ ही क्षण बिताने पर हम फिर से खुद को उर्जावान महसूस करते हैं। यहाँ शांत वातावरण, शुद्ध एवं ठंडी हवा के झोके हमें चिंता मुक्त कर देते हैं, साथ ही सारी मानसिक थकान भी दूर हो जाती हैं। यहाँ पहाड़ से देखने पर पूरा उदयपुर दिखाई देता हैं, यहाँ एक सुन्दर बगीचा और एक भव्य हनुमान मंदिर भी हैं। इस गुफा में हर पूर्णिमा की रात को भजन संध्या होती हैं जो कि एक संगीतमय रात्रि जागरण होता हैं।

17 वर्ष की उम्र में ही भक्ति में तपस्वी के रूप में भिन्न स्थानों पर तपस्याएं करते रहे। आप निराहार रहकर 12 वर्षो तक एक पांव पर ही खड़े रहकर तपस्या की जो स्थान गुप्तेश्वर महादेव की पहाड़ी होडा पर्वत के अंदर प्राकृतिक गुफा में है वहीं उनकी तपस्या रही जहाँ आज भी अंदर की तरफ अलग से गुफा है। गुरूदेव ने अपना जीवन बड़ी विनम्र और प्रेममयी भावना से बच्चो, बूढ़ो, माताओं, बहनों को ज्ञान देने एवं हमारा जीवन प्रभु प्रीत से जोड़ने में व्यतीत कर दिया।

शिवलिंग का स्वप्न

दाता होकम जब दशानन करते हुए निरंजनी अखाड़े के साथ उदयपुर पधारे, तब उन्हें एक रात स्वप्न आया कि मध्य उदयपुर से कुछ ही दूर किसी गुफानुमा पहाड़ी के अंदर एक छोटा सा महादेव का लिंग है तब से गुरुजी को वो स्वप्न बार बार हर रात्रि को आने लगा । मानो वो लिंग उनको अपनी तरफ खींच रहा हो । देशाटन करते हुए वह जहा भी जाते वह स्वप्न उनका पीछा नही छोड़ता , उनको नींद नही लेते हुए बहुत समय बीत गया था ।

अपने गुरूजी की आज्ञा पाकर दाता हुकम 1951 कार्तिक माह में सर्वप्रथम उदयपुर से 10 किलोमीटर दूर मानव खेडा गांव में पधारे और वह तीन-चार दिन रुके। वहाँ लोगो से अपने स्वप्न दृश्य की चर्चा कर की एवं स्वप्न से मिलता जुलता स्थान ढूंढते हुए वह एकलिंगपुरा जा पहुंचे । वहाँ पर भी लोगो को अपने सपने का वृत्तांत सुनाया। वहा के लोगो ने गुरुजी को कुछ बच्चो के साथ संध्या काल मे होंडा पर्वत जो कि तितरडी (बिलिया) में है वहां तक पहुचाया। वो कार्तिक पूर्णिमा का दिन था। वहाँ पर्वत पर पहले से एक धूणी थी। गुरुदेव कुछ समय तक उस धूणी के पास बैठे रहे फिर उन्हें लगा की वो सपने वाला लिंग उन्हें अपनी तरफ बुला रहा है वहाँ खोजबीन करने पर गुरुजी को गुफा के मुख्य द्वार दिखाई पड़ा जो कि उस समय चमकादडो की पीठ से करीब करीब पूरा बन्द था गुरुजी ने अपने वस्त्रो से गुफा की सफाई की तथा अंदर जा कर शिवलिंग की खोज की । सद्गुरु बृज बिहारी जी बन की उम्र वर्तमान में करीब 95 से 100 वर्ष की हो चुकी है । पर वह हम सभी भक्तों को एक परिवार की तरह मानकर अपार प्रेम करते है। ऐसे सरल एवं प्रेममयी जीवन जीने वाले तथा निस्वार्थ भाव रखकर सम्पूर्ण मानव कल्याण में सर्वस्व लुटाने वाले गुरुदेव को हम बारम्बार प्रणाम केते है ।। जय महादेव ।

There are a lot of places of interest in and around Udaipur which attract a lot of tourists from across the globe. One such place is the Fish Point near Kumbhalgarh. The Fish Point is basically a small lake known as Hammeripal lake situated in Taladri village. The Taladri village is in the Kumbhalgarh Tehsil, Rajasamand district. Let’s find out why is it famous?

The Hammeripal Lake is famous due to its large number of fish. It is a less crowded spot in the village and people often come here to have a look at the fish population. But what is about the fish in this lake that makes it so popular?

The lake is the home to thousands of African Catfish!! They are present in the lake in a number that might frighten some while some might feel a bit uneasy to watch such a huge number of Catfish accumulating to be fed. But literally, they are a sight not to be missed!

It looks unreal and feeding them is all the more fun.

Why are these Catfish in the Hammeripal Lake in Kumbhalgarh?

The story that the local people have about the ‘dangerously looking’ catfish is that one ‘Fish Contractor’ developed this breed in the lake for commercial ‘Fish Farming’. The villagers were concerned about the natural beauty of the place and that this entire place would be commercialized due to the same. Henceforth, all the villagers shunned his practice of fish farming.

Since that time, the Catfish kept increasing and breeding. Also, the local people are very apprehensive about fishing in the lake. They do not allow any local or outsider to catch these Catfish from the lake; and if they happen to find someone catching, strict actions are taken against the person.

These African catfish eat bread and local snacks and can be fed by the visitors.

The reason behind the name, Hammeripal Lake

The lake is so called because it was constructed by the Sisodia clan ruler, Rana Hammir Singh and so it was named after him as Hammeripal lake.

Location

The lake is situated 2-3 kilometer before the Kumbhalgarh fort. It is located in the village named ‘Taladri’. Kumbhalgarh is at a distance of 100 Km approx. from Udaipur.

About Kumbhalgarh

Kumbhalgarh is the birthplace of the great warrior of Mewar, Maharana Pratap. Built during the course of the 15th century; the fort has a wall, 38 km long and is among the largest wall complex in the world. Kumbhalgarh was built and ruled by Rana Kumbha and hence the name Kumbhalgarh. Some legends say that the Rana Kumbha wasn’t able to build the wall over repeated attempts and then it was told by a spiritual sage that place demands a human sacrifice. At first, no one volunteered but then one day a man agreed and the ritual was performed. Today the main gate of the fortress, Hanuman Pol, contains a shrine and a temple to commemorate the great sacrifice.

While all of us have grown listening about the beautiful places and rich culture of Udaipur, there are some places which have some inexplicable stories associated with them. People from Udaipur have witnessed some weird incidents and claims that the place consists of some paranormal activities.

Let us see what these places are and what kind of activities and stories people claim there to be –

Natni ka Chabutra

Legend says that once upon a time there was a king named Maharana Jawan Singh, in city palace who assured a Natni (tightrope walker who performs various dance and activities on a rope in the air) that he would gift her half of his kingdom if she will cross the rope tied from a village on the west bank of the lake to the City Palace on the east bank. Just when she was about to finish it, the fearful king ordered to cut the rope and the Natni drowned and died in the water. Just before she died she cursed the Maharana’s family. Since then, the place is said to be haunted and no one is allowed to go there.

Old city

Apart from its rich heritage sites and colorful streets, it is also said to be the home of some inexplicable energies that prove their existence in nights. Some of the residents claim that they’ve heard and experienced something paranormal in this place. This area is said to be between Tibetan market to Jagdish temple. It is said that the kings and their kingdom who lived here once upon a time still roam around the area to ensure the safety of the place.

Bedla mata

Bedla Mata is a Hindu temple situated at Bedla road in Udaipur. It is said that the goddess of this temple takes away the ghost of people when you visit the temple and do some ritual which is to go under a shallow cave made of stones for three times. It is also said that when you return from the temple, do not look back and if you do all the ghosts that people left there will come right behind you. Scared already?

Badi Lake

There are so many Udaipurites who have different ghost stories when it comes to Badi Lake. Well, I will start with one. There was this group of 4-5 people who were on a night out and went to Badi Lake. When they were returning from there at some time around 10:00 pm, they heard a loud voice and at that very instant when they looked on the road, some unrecognizable figure crossed the road.

While night outs are all fun and frolic, such incidents make us think about it again.

Fatehsagar

Fatehsagar is one of the most popular lakes not only in Udaipur but all around the country. Its beauty attracts all the local people of the city as well as tourists from all around the world but ever heard that its water invites death?

There is a saying which is spread all across the city that when the first heavy rain of monsoon touches and fill the water of Lake Fatehsagar, it invites one death. People say that whoever swimming in the water of Lake Fatehsagar after heavy rains get pulled by some energy inside the water and don’t let them swim across the surface causing death.
