In protest of Anna Hazare’s arrest on the issue of the JanLokpal bill, a candle march rally was organized today on the 17th of august 2011 at the core of the lakecity at the Fatehsagar lakeside (paal) by all the youth of Udaipur. This great public protest and gathering of about 300 Udaipurites was in the support of Hazare’s Anti-corruption (Janlokpall bill) movement. One was able to feel the anger in the atmosphere against the government’s move of arresting Anna and his follows.
The spark off protests against the government’s move of arresting Anna and his followers created anger in the whole atmosphere. The step was initiated by a few regular readers of UdaipurBlog at a dedicated Chat room for them, and was wholeheartedly supported by all the members of UdaipurBlog. UdaipurBlog team is thankful to all the people of Udaipur for their massive support and we kindly appeal all of them to maintain a supportive and peaceful atmosphere in the city, and to oppose corruption in any form

Independence Day- the day when British left the golden bird free from their rule. But the bird was left looted, harassed, with the slightest of hope to survive. Then followed a long fight for the survival of golden bird. 64 years have passed and the country is still ‘developing’. The whole world says and even we believe that we are the citizens of an independent country. But a question always keep on hovering in my mind, the answer to which I never found out. You also give it a try. Is India really free? Are we not bound by so many handcuffs of ever growing poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, crimes, men-women inequality, limited technology and the worst of all which potentiate other bounding forces too- Corruption?

Shocked seeing the figure?? Don’t be because there is still a large figure behind the scene which the CBI has failed to suspect.
“Angrez chale gaye par inhe chod gye”- the best phrase that can describe our corrupt politicians and high commanding officers. And why only blame these famous names. Even an ordinary man is giving them a tough competition- Wrong ways to save income tax, Under table income, and what not. Fighting with any outsider is easy but how to fight with someone amongst ourselves. How to punish a crow from within a group of parrots? And what adds to the tragedy is that everyone is inside this dirty cave of corruption. Those who are in the light of honesty and truthfulness don’t want to make an initiative to clean this dirt.
A grand salute to those great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Swami Vivekanand, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Bhagat Singh who broke a revolt against British and drove them back to their home. Today again we need such leaders to drive corruption out of this beautiful country. Then we all will proudly say that “Yes!! We are the citizens of an independent country which flies unbound in the sky of glory and success”.
Happy Independence Day to all from Udaipur Blog!! Let us vow to make our country a free bird again.
Mother’s milk is the first gift by a mother to her newborn. It is the healthiest form of milk for the baby which contains the right amount of fats, sugar, water, minerals and proteins that ensures his complete physical and mental growth. Mother confers immunity to her baby through this milk which protects him from respiratory infections and diarrhoeal diseases. Breastfeeding the child reduces the risk of blood loss after delivery, breast and ovarian cancer, gaining excess weight and iron deficiency.
To protect, promote and encourage breastfeeding, World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated from 1st to 7th August every year by over 120 countries under the guidance of WHO and UNICEF. WHO recommends that the neonate must be exclusively breastfed (i.e. no other fluid or food to be given other than mother’s milk) up to 6 months of age. After that solid foods and nutritional supplement can be started but breastfeeding must be continued up to 2 years of age or more.
To commemorate the world breastfeeding week, there were many programmes held throughout the week by many organizations.
The Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital held week long programmes for students, doctors and common masses from 1st to 7th of August. Students actively participated in the various activities and doctors gave their best to promote breastfeeding among general public of Udaipur.
Various activities such as poster making, rangoli, quiz competitions, etc were held for students of Medical, Nursing, Physiotherapy Colleges, Talk shows/camps were held in various institutions like Military School, M.G. College, and Guru Nanak by the doctors of Community Medicine Department to educate young girls about the benefits of breastfeeding the newborn.
The week was concluded today by a Seminar followed by Prize Distribution of various events. Dr. Harish Mathur, Prof. & Head Community Medicine, spoke on the various aspects of breastfeeding issues. A mind boggling statistics about breast milk and breastfeeding was presented by Dr. A.P. Gupta, Prof. & Head, Pediatrics. Dr. Sharda Goyal, Obstetrics & Gynecology, explained how to prepare a mother for breastfeeding and how to breastfeed in difficult maternal situation. Lastly, Mr. Kamlesh Joshi stated the role of nurses in promoting breastfeeding.
There were talk programmes, conversations, and discussions held by the Rotary Club Udaipur ‘Meera’ and the Rotary Innerwheel Club throughout the week. President Dr. Veena Sanadhya and Dr. Vimla Dhakad emphasized on proper education in the rural masses for awareness on the same. Quizzes were conducted and were awarded too.
This Friendship day, 7th August 2011, Ashoka Cinema and Picture Palace Cinema organised a free special show of the movie Singham (starring Ajay Devgn and Prakash Raj, directed by Rohit Shetty) for the entire Police Force of Udaipur. The show started at about 10:15 a.m. and the management got a whopping response from the entire department, with around 700 officers and other members of the Police coming to see the movie at Picture Palace.
Singham – The film is set in a small village in Maharashta, where corruption is rife and crooked politicians call the shots. Ajay Devgn’s character Bajirao Singham is an honest police officer who has the single minded mission to eradicate all the corruption by any means possible. He is inspiring and defines the role of a Police officer. He exemplifies honesty and the will to drive a positive change. These are the traits we all wish to see in our Police.
It is a belief that today Cinema is the most influential form of entertainment. Films are creating an unprecedented impact on our generation and socially-responsible-movies like Singham are taking lead. On the Friendships Day, and a few days before Independence Day, the initiative to bring the entire Police force together under one roof, reminding them that they are the friends of the society and it is their utmost responsibility to maintain our freedom, is absolutely a great thinking and implementation by the management.
“Ashoka Cinema & Picture Palace Cinema have been providing quality entertainment to the City of Udaipur since 1945 and shall continue to do so for times to come. We always hope that inspiring movies, motivational movies, and movies with a message continue to release at our cinemas and entertain the people. We express are happiness and pride that Udaipur’s Police have been always around in times of trouble and have kept this city safe and peaceful. We express our gratitude towards them on this Friendship Day for being with us always. We also thank the department for allowing us to have this screening as our humble contribution towards betterment of our society.” said Mr. Mukund Sanghi, on behalf of Ashoka Cinema & Picture Palace Cinema.

Heavy Rainfall in Lakecity washed away pains of humidity and hot atmosphere longing from many days.
Udaipies enjoyed today’s rain; But simultaneously faced many problems, water logs on roads converted roads into flowing river. Power Cuts in Udaipur, disrupted lifestyle of people.
But who cares about all these!! 😀 , We are eagerly waiting for our Lakes to be filled and brimming. 😀 Here are a few Pictures I clicked Today. Enjoy and Share
Hey friends. First and foremost I would like to extend my warm greetings on the occasion of our tradition and cultural day: Hariyali Amavasya.
As you all might know this year it is being celebrated the 30th and 31st of July, where the 31st will be restricted for the women only. This year saw a great crowd and joy in the fair, as well as the drizzle added to the energy and worked as a stressbuster, and kept the name Hariyali worth its sake. The crowd was huge, the excitement unmatched, all stalls were ready and loaded either with eatables, toys, fancy items, women’s items, etc. People were here with the traditional pupadis or the instrument horning them all the way, and not to forget, the day’s special Malpuas.
For those who were present at the event, and want to feel the same fun again, and also, who unfortunately missed the fair, here I bring you a photostory with some of my best clicks, for the first day at the Hariyali Amavasya fair. Let the pictures speak for themselves.:)
Can’t wait to have a plate of garma-garam pakodas and hot tea sip by the stalls? But stop, make sure that what you are eating is healthy or not.
Monsoon in my own definition is after scorching hot summer, the rainy showers, which are super relieving for us, and are a hello to joy and pleasure. Though monsoon lessens our sweat, but it also brings many problems with it due to sudden fluctuations in temperature and moisture.
So here, UdaipurBlog brings to you some do’s and don’ts, health and fashion tips so that you can gear up for these rains.
Prepare your rain wears, raincoats, caps, umbrellas, waterproof shoes and plastic sheets. Keep plastic bags in your handbags also to prevent your belongings from getting wet in water.
Go for a walk daily in the morning. The fresh monsoon air will refresh you and open your skin pores for happy skin and happy you.
Don’t do heavy exercise. Instead go for yoga or simple aerobics.
Always take a shower when you are rain soaked. Never wear wet clothes without washing and ironing, otherwise they may cause itching.
Our skin becomes more prone to infections these days. So, do take care of your body hygiene. Add dettol or neem leaves to your bucket while taking bath.
Apply anti-fungal talcum powder to the areas which are more prone to infections like armpits, etc.
The moisture and temperature during rains are the favorable conditions for microbial growth. These also results in poor digestion.
Therefore, while cooking, firstly wash all vegetables and fruits well, especially the leafy green as they may have hidden worms.
Add light grilled and tandoori foods cooked in less oil and less salt, loads of seasonal fruits, cereals and vegetables to your meals instead of heavy oily foods.
In breakfast we may add poha, sandwiches, egg, and cornflakes and avoid stuffed parathas.
Load up your kitchen and dining tables with Vitamin-C. It is a good antioxidant which helps in viral cold.
Add ginger to your servings. (Tea and dals).
Avoid packed juices and junk food, of which most of us are used to.
Drink boiled and purified water, homemade juices and soups only.
Prepare your wardrobe to drive everyone crazy with your looks.
Style yourself up with floral prints, pastel shades, sea blue, flora green. They all give you charming fresh look in the monsoons.
Go for cotton fabrics, loose fitting pants or shorts. These are comfortable and casual and also do not cause any kind of skin allergies.
Avoid high heels and slippery foot wears. Instead try wooden sole.
Exclusively for girls:
For glowing skin and healthy hair, apply 1 cup curd plus 1tsp of lime juice to skin and hair and wash off after 15 minutes under rain shower.
If you are suffering from crack heel problems, then soak your feet in warm water with a pinch of salt for 20 minutes, then wash with cold water and dry with towel.
A light body massage with mustard or olive oil is the need of season.
So take care of all the above, to stay healthy and charming and enjoy every treat of this awesome season outside.
