Pramod Kumar KG of New Delhi based museum consultancy Eka curates an exhibition of Hand-colored Photographs at Bhagwat Prakash Photo Gallery inside the premises of City Palace Museum to revive the synapse between painting and photography. Scheduled to be inaugurated on 25^th of this month at 09:35 am, “Tinted by Tradition” will continue till March 31, 2012.

This exposition puts up the age old tradition of adding a layer of color to the printed photographic image that finds its birth in the early years of the invention of modern photography in 1839. It displays the works of Waswo X. Waswo and Rajesh Soni that has been inspired from the large oeuvre of work maintained at Pictorial Archives of Maharanas of Mewar. Waswo’s digitally printed studio portraits have been hand coloured by Rajesh Soni, an artist with his roots in Udaipur, whose grandfather Prabhu Lal Verma was a well known artist-photographer in the court of Maharana Bhupal Singh. Waswo says of his work, “In Udaipur I hoped to revisit the territory of late 19^thcentury and 20^thcentury photography, both paying homage to, and also playfully mocking, the genre as practiced by foreign ethnographers and Indian Studio portraitists alike.”

City Palace Museum has always caught hold of many eyes with its holdings of rich culture and archives that take you in a journey to the past, a journey inside the royalties and culture of Mewar kings. The Bhagwat Prakash Photo Gallery was established in the Zenana Mehal present within the courtyards of City Palace Museum in March 2009 that endures the Pictorial Archives of the Maharanas of Mewar. These arrays of photographic materials are made available for research scholars, and through various exhibitions for the tourists visiting museum and also for wider community.

Lakecity Carnival 2011

In the series of adding more colors to our beautiful city and encouraging the flourishing tourist industry the newspaper daily Danik Bhaskar with business giant Miraj group as main sponsors inaugurated the Lakecity Carnival 2011 on a very significant and trending date 11-11-11. An evening inaugural party accompanying performances, followed by dinner was organized at Hotel Inder Residency for limited invited guests. This year’s Lakecity Carnival is to be Held on 27^th November,2011 as announced. The First ever Lake City Carnival was organized by Dainik Bhaskar corp. and oriental palace resorts last year on 10^th October,2010. This year’s carnival is expected to be far better from last year as this time a huge variety of performers including international, state and local artists will be performing in the event.

This year’s carnival announcement was inaugurated and proclaimed by the Majesty prince of Udaipur and General Manager of HRH group of hotels Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar. He fled colorful balloons and announced the later start of the series of programs of lakecity carnival. On this occasion, the city’s top executives, politicians, academics and businessmen, including dignitaries from all classes participated. Guests enjoyed a late night party with variety of international dance performances like Latina, Russian, Antre and Belle followed by some folk Indian performances like Kalbelia, thirteen pools etc.

Like last year, the carnival celebration in all its grandeur shall traverse across some of the most prominent parts of our beautiful city attracting one and all to participate and witness the visual delight. But unlike Last year, this year’s carnival will include performers from different states of India and even some international folk artists. Street plays, songs, dances, and skits will be performed all along the marked route from town hall to Fatehsagar Lake in the city culminating in open area, entertaining city’s enthusiastic & jubilant crowd. Fireworks, Mashals and lamps floated in the lake will be the fitting finale to the event.

Eminent personalities will be invited to grace the occasion and judge performances of the competitors and announce winners. Awards will be given to best performers.

Shakira To Sizzle Udaipur

Yes, you have heard it right! The pop sensation, who rocked the whole world with her songs and of course, belly dance, none other than Shakira, will be performing in Udaipur. Unfortunately, this performance won’t be for the public, but, in occasion of the celebration of the 80^th birthday of the real estate tycoon, Mr. K.P. Singh(CEO, DLF) The birthday has already been celebrated in August, but the celebration mood hasn’t come to a halt yet.

Reportedly, the three day celebrations have been planned from November 13-15 in Delhi, Gurgaon, and will be ending on 15^th at our very own Udaipur. Different ‘Guess lists’ include the name of Shah Rukh Khan, Hritik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, and pop star Ricky Martin who might make it to Udaipur. This shall be a private party, with a limited guest list of about 500 in all, at Jagmandir.

After the Navratri festival fun we are all anxiously waiting for the most joyous festival of India – Diwali 😀

This time diwali falls on 26th of October and with the lakes in Udaipur completely filled; we are also filled with Happiness 😀

As a custom the Nagar Parishad of Udaipur organises a Dusshera-Diwali mela(fair) at Town Hall every year. So here we are with the schedule of Dusshera Diwali Mela 2011. 🙂

The season is back again. The excitement has hit all the generations of Udaipur, not only the youth. The same can be seen at the Our Real Estate Dandiya Raas 2011 by the Sparkles Dance group. Being organized at Satyam Shivam Sundaram Garden, Ayad, the location is too easy to reach from the city.

To have a glimpse of the event, I had a visit at the place yesterday. I am not at all a good dancer, so I chose to stick with my camera to click few pictures of the event and share it with the Udaipies. As could be seen in the photographs, the response of the crowd was overwhelming, RJ/Anchor Piyush hosted the show in his awesome style, and above all, the traditional music pumped up every heart beat and forced every pair of feet to dance on its own.

If you are in a mood to enjoy the season of Navratri at its best, I strongly recommend you not to miss the Our Real Estate Dandiya Raas 2011.

Fresher’s party of Pacific Institute Of Technology, “BooOming Freshto” was held on the 6th of September, 2011. This welcome party was held in the PIT auditorium and was attended by the Fresher’s and the second year students along with the faculty members. The programme included a series of some outstanding singing and dance performances by the freshers, and a fantastic drama by Nishant and group of second year. The freshers walked on the ramp, introduced themselves and showed their talents in the four rounds of the FRESHER HUNT. Saif Ali Khan was selected as Mr. Fresher 2011 and Upasna Bhati as Ms.Fresher 2011 by the Jury Members. Director Sir Mr. R.K Aeron gave away the memento to the winners.

Techno India NJR Institute of Technology celebrated its 4^th Fresher’s day on 10^th September 2011 as Phoenix 2011. The celebration was held at the MLSU auditorium, in front of the entire Techno NJR family. There were a series of performances by the seniors who welcomed the freshers and wished them good luck for their new step after school. The best students, and achievers were felicitated, followed by a movie presentation by Upesh Bhatt and Prasun Bannerjee showing glimpse of past years. Director Mr. R.S. Vyas announced and awarded Mr. Piyush Javeria as the best faculty for the year, and introduced the college to the new vice-principal, Dr. Pankaj Porwal. The freshers walked on the ramp, showed themselves and their vivid talents in the fresher contest. In the end, Vikramaditya Rathore was awarded as Mr. Fresher and Shivani Singh Rao as Miss Fresher for the year 2011. Surbhi Jain and Devkaran Singh Rathore were the runner ups.

The Techno India NJR institute of technology also had its 4th foundation day on 11th September 2011.

Udaipur, also known as Lakecity or The city of Dawn, with land around the immense water lakes, folded with hills of the Aravalis. A dream come true location of romance and beauty. I must say words are not enough to define the beauty of Udaipur. It can be verified by the fact that it’s one of the best tourist places not only in India but all over the world. Anyways that’s a fact which most of us know. But what’s more interesting is people from all over the world not only love to come and visit Udaipur but also like to watch Udaipur in Movies, Pictures and daily television shows/soaps. As Udaipur is a fascinating blend of sights, sounds and experiences – an inspiration for the imagination of artists.

The latest notification is about “Ritz Jeele Ye Pal”, which is an auto adventure reality television show, where 6 celebrities will pair with 6 young Indians from various regions of India to experience the great outdoors across different locations of Udaipur. There are twelve participants in the show including six celebrity participants who are Kinshuk Mahajan, Karan Wahi, Gaurav Khanna and beautiful leading ladies like Rati Pandey, Anupriya Kapoor and Pavitra Puniya. The show is based on team race in their smart Ritz cars and some other tasks to win points, according to the concept of the show the real winners are they who savour and live every moment of their experience in the show, to the fullest.

This show is produced by Lin TV Advertising Pvt Ltd (Lintas media group) and Spil A Tale Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The complete series of the show including the Grand Finale was filmed at Udaipur which was organized and coordinated by The Crew (Sanjay Soni & Siddharth Soni). The show was shot at more than 40 different prime sights of Udaipur such as Badi pal, Hotel Fathegarh palace, Shilpgram, Dhudh Talai, Fatehsagar, Haldighati, Havala point, Ubheshwarji, Krishi Mandi etc.

The show has 12 episodes in total which is to be telecasted in 6 weeks with its first telecast on 10th September, 2011 at 7:30 pm on star plus (Saturday and Sunday). The show was hosted by Yudi and Roshni Chopra. Director of the show is Arun Sheshkumar. Complete series of show was coordinated by THE CREW. Sanjay Soni (Owner-The Crew) played a role of Sarpanch of a village (as a judge for a task) shot in 1st episode.
