Good Morning @ Sukhadia Memorial Park

sukhadia memorial udaipur

It was quite chilling outside and in the freezing morning at around 7’O clock I stepped out towards Sukhadia Memorial Park, Durga Nursery Road. From Ashok Nagar to Durga Nursey it was quite near so I decided to have a walk. I could see several people who were either going for a walk and some were returning. I was just wondering; have I delayed my walk, perhaps I would have to visit the park somewhat earlier. But the sheer thought of coming earlier shivered my body from toe to head. Meanwhile I continued walking and reached the park.

I observed the main gate, there were many vehicles parked outside and most were two wheelers and 2 or 3 cars were also there. One could justify that some of them come here for a walk who live a few kilometers away from this place. Pouring some more and more thoughts into my brain I entered into the park. Earlier I used to come here for a walk in summers, comparing the time I found that the number of visitors has declined due to the chilling weather. Still there were people around who were jogging and having their regular morning exercise.

sukhadia memorial udaipur

The place was calm, cool and it was not less than a heaven. Full of greenery and energy, the density of trees was less and it was more due to the lush green grass, enriched with loads of early morning oxygen. You could enjoy taking deep breath and it would purify your body from deep within. It was quite an amazing feel. I too started walking down the pathway where others were having their walk.

Sun was just about to rise; the grass was covered with a blanket of dew, the small little tiny droplets of water. There were birds around, some were still at a position, it seemed as they were waiting for the sun to spread its warmth. It was quite awesome feeling realizing the nature at a place which was all surrounded by the concrete jungle and heavy traffic during day time. The one side of the Sukhaida Memorial has been covered by the Lake City Mall. This reveals the kindness of nature with human being and other creatures. It always gives us something and demands nothing, except for the fact that it should not be exploited. I gave a deep sigh and moved forward.

Having three to four rounds of the park I sat down at a bench for a while. Oops! The cemented bench was like a glacier. For a moment I felt myself at Antarctica. I gave sometime and stick to it to be normal. After giving rest to my limbs I started and had a few more rounds. No, no I am not talking about running just a simple and a sober walk. No marathon, I was not habitual to it. I spent almost an hour in the park; the sun has already risen and spread its beauty to some parts of the park. There were very few people left in the park as most of them had left to finish the rest of the day’s schedule. I too had enjoyed a walk early morning in such beautiful surrounding.

I gave a cursory look around all corners of the park. The park was ready to serve the coming events of the day. I looked at a group; they were all ready with their bags and were gathered there for some meet. I suppose it was an early morning briefing to the executives by their boss or a subordinate team member. I found quite interesting that this park serves many purpose throughout from morning to night. It caters as a central meeting place for the residents of Udaipur.

Weekend Hangout Spot – Haldi Ghati

Sunday, Rain and Haldi Ghati – Its all That One Needs!

Finally, the long awaited rainy Rains are now in Lakecity. 2 days of continuous showers has soaked the city; the dampness of air and land has added to its magnetism; Lakes have attained the allure of late teens, frenzied n yet so beautiful, as if someone has added magic water in them; the weather is just perfect – no more scorching sun, just dark clouds and cold air ready to mesmerize every soul. And with this loving downpour, here comes our favorite Sunday J isn’t it a perfect combo – Rain and Sunday??

So this weekend let’s hangout with these dripping showers and drizzling air at a place which, even after having witnessed one of the most furious battle in history, can chant anyone with its enticing panorama. Yes, it’s none other than the “Haldi Ghati”, a terrain south west of Nathdwara, where gallant Maharana Pratap and his troops fought heroically against the forces of Emperor Akbar; the blood that was shed to safeguard their land was so much that it turned the color of soil to red. The feeling of standing on a land of merciless battle and thousands of deaths is sure to send shudders all over the body.

How to reach there:

Haldi ghati is 40 kms, by road, from Udaipur. You are sure to love the drive to Haldi Ghati; a narrow pass in the Aravali ranges, the soil all painted in yellow and the raindrops on windshield – it’s gonna be a perfect long drive… But but but be careful while driving on wet roads, they can be slippery.

What else to see:

A ‘Chattri’ is made out of delicate marbles in the memory of the loyal horse of Maharana, Chetak, who breathed his last breath only after leaving his master at a safe place. This Chattri is situated about 4 kms from Haldi ghati. Nearby, there is a village ‘Balicha’ famous for its terracotta crafts. You can also fill your mouth with the taste of original rose water and ‘Gulkand’ by visiting Badshahi Bagh.

So what are you waiting for?? Take your keys and start off for a rain drive and a trip into the glorious history of Mewar. Don’t forget to take random snaps and share them with us. Happy Rains and Happy Sunday Udaipies…!!

Hangout Plan For The Weekend ‘Bagheri Ka Naka’ | Sunday on the door – Its Picnic Time

Seems like there is a sort of match going on from few weeks high up in the sky – clouds and sun competing each other to see who rules over the sky. Though monsoon has not yet hit its peak, still the weather outside is pleasant with clouds and winds casting their spell and tempting every feet to ‘Get Set Go’ for an exciting Sunday picnic. And if you are lucky enough, you can even get a chance to soak yourself in the monsoon showers. J

With so many picnic places around Udaipur, it can be confusing enough for you as for which place to go, how to go, what to do and all. But Dear Readers, “When UB is here, no need to fear” 😉  “Bagheri ka Naka”, flowing with all its might, will definitely be the perfect choice for this Sunday.

The Journey to ‘Bagheri ka Naka’: Bagheri Dam is situated 55 kms from Udaipur. You’ll have to take the Ajmer Road from Fatehpura Circle, then keep on following the sign boards and you will reach your destination in approx 1 hour or so depending on road and traffic conditions. Don’t forget to add the flavors of snacks, antakshari, gossips and laughter in your road trip; after all the journey is more beautiful than the destination itself.

At Bagheri ka Naka: The breath-holding view of splashing water amidst the marvelous backdrop of mountains will completely engorge you in the nature’s splendor. Your picnic mood will multiply many folds and you won’t be able to resist the desire to feel the cold, crystal clear water and get drenched in the downpour. So don’t forget to carry extra clothes with you.  A monsoon picnic is always incomplete without ‘crispy pakodas’, ‘garma garam chai’ and ‘bhuttas’. But as you won’t find any shop or food joints around, you’ll have to carry your meals and other eatables with you. Also be prepared to encounter a large crowd as everybody is out for the weekend.

So pack your picnic bags, start your cars and bang on this Sunday in the music of falling water. Don’t forget to capture the mesmerizing view and masti bhare moments with your camera. Happy Weekend Udaipies…!!

Let’s turn the City of Lakes into City of Gardens this Weekend – Weekend Hangout

Monsoon has already knocked our city; these soft breezes brushing our hairs, tiny rain drops that falls on our body and touches our soul; seems like everything around is tinted in green and blue. So what else, other than Lakes, could be a better option to hangout in this super awesome weather?? Well actually there can be one more happening weekend plan to celebrate this monsoon and get closer to nature.

Udaipur is the city of lakes; but it’s the City of Gardens too, with many picturesque lush green gardens ready to cast their spell on you with dew drops on leaves, soft wet grass and cool and pleasant air. These gardens, grown more charming in monsoon breeze and dampness, can be an excellent hangout option with family and friends. You will be amazed to find so many choices; in fact options even more than Lakes. You can choose any one out of many as per your choice or plan a whole day out exploring these green retreats.

Nehru Garden :-

Situated amidst Fatehsagar Lake, this island garden is truly an eye candy with its fountains and flower gardens. Though these fountains won’t soothe you by splashing water (for which I really thank our sleeping government officials), but with Fatehsagar all around it, you won’t be missing those splashes. Even the boat ride to the garden can be enjoyed when the only rides we enjoy now-a-days are bike or car ride on dusty roads.

Rajiv gandhi park - Gaurav bohra

Rajiv Gandhi Garden :-

This newly developed garden, located on Rani Road, is emerging as a new hot-spot in the city, particularly for couples in weekdays and families on weekends. Its different theme, the children park and the exotic views of city which it serves makes it a favorite weekend option for city dwellers.

Moti Magri :-

With a statue of brave Maharana Pratap riding his beloved horse Chetak, this age old garden overlooks Fatehsagar Lake. It has many gardens built in the memory of Maharana Pratap and other brave warriors of Mewar.

Sahelion ki Badi :-

Built with a different concept of providing a place where royal ladies can relax and rejoice, this garden is famous for its greenery, marble architecture and fountains. Its fountains (mind you, if they are working properly) are sure to drench you without rain. While in the garden, you will feel as if you are in a fairy-land and your feet won’t leave its lanes and lawns.

Gulab Bagh - Yash Sharma

Gulab Bagh :-

Spread over an area of 100 acres, Gulab Bagh or Sajjan Niwas Garden is the biggest of all gardens in Udaipur. It has a zoo, a museum and a public library along with many beautiful gardens, the greenery of which is well maintained by the authority. It is ever blooming with people of various ages even on weekdays, especially in the morning and evening hours.

Jaisamand Lake: An Awesome Option for this Weekend

It’s a weekend again. Our favorite SUNDAY is here again and a rocking plan for spending a happening weekend “Banta Hai Boss”. After a week full of hard work, tensions, classes and pressure of completing our targets we all need a day full of fun with friends and family. The soaring high temperature which is increasing day by day makes me think of spending my weekend at a place that can make me forget the uneasiness caused by this heat.

Jaisamand Hangout

So, Udaipies this week’s hangout option is JAISAMAND LAKE. Just 48 kilometers away from Lakecity, one can easily reach the second largest manmade lake of Asia for spending a rocking holiday. Built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1685, Jaisamand, also known as Dhebar Lake came into existence while constructing a dam on Gomti River. Besides enjoying the scenic beauty of the place you also have the advantage of enjoying the amazing backdrop of the lake which consists of a summer palace of Udaipur Queens.

Well, as we can’t visit an island in a day but Jaisamand fulfills the desire of island lovers too as it comprises of not one but seven islands. And now my favourite part, the lake has graceful marble steps which will take you to the journey of heaven when your feet will touch the lake water. At the top of the stairs is a Shiv temple for religious people. Yes, the same that showed up in the serial “Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai”. You can enjoy boat ride in the calm waters of the lake too, and have your lunch at the island resort. Wow, the hunch is adrenaline rush for itself. If you plan packing your own home made lunch for the family picnic, do have it at the “chhatris”(shade), but yes again, beware of the monkeys. They are quite professional beggars for food and irritating enough.

Jaisaman Hangout

But wait, there’s is one more thing to be added in the “to visit” list which is the sanctuary near the lake. Yes, the place also serves the interest of nature and animal lovers; the lake has a sanctuary nearby that inhabitates different species of flora and fauna.

So, Udaipies what you all are waiting for just pack in your stuff and set off to actually personify the pleasures I just mentioned. Happy Weekend To all, and don’t forget to share your weekend experience with us. 🙂

Hangout at Sajjangarh – Awesome plan for a happening Weekend

Goooooooodddd Morrrrrrrrnnniiiiiiingggg Udaipur..!!! 🙂

It’s a cool, lovely day wrapped in a soft breeze making these pre-monsoon days even more charming and wonderful. Doesn’t this breeze tempt you for a long bike ride or for a family picnic or for a hangout with friends or for a hot cup of tea in your balcony?? They do tempt me a lot, and even more when I’m on my way to college or when I peep outside from the window of Lecture Hall. So today let this temptation take over you and drive you crazy with these wild winds. After all its weekend Udaipies!! 😉

Sajjangarh - By saurabh
Sajjangarh – By saurabh

As we wait to get soaked in monsoon, how about visiting The Monsoon Palace today?? It is also named as Sajjangarh after Maharaja Sajjan Singh, a young Mewar ruler who built this fort in 1884 to study the monsoon clouds and later used it as hunting lodge. This Fort, perched at a peak Bansdora Mountain, enchants every eye with the view it offers of lush green Aravalli Hills and blue waters of Lake Pichola.

When you look at the “Sajjangarh Fort” from the city, it creates an impression of the king’s palace about which we have heard or read in fairy tales; standing at a height of 944m above the sea level and circled by forest and mountain from all around. The road up the hill to the fort twists and turns like a drunken man and driving on it is a sort of mini adventure in itself. Standing in the courtyard of the fort, you will feel the strong wind engulfing your mind and soul with its power and dynamism. Capture the scenic beauty of our own Udaipur and its lakes from the fort and you will once again fall in love with its allure. When the sky gets painted in orange and yellow hue at the time of sunset, then for a minute your eyes won’t blink and the colors won’t leave your mind for a couple of days.

Sajjangarh - By Kumar Veetrag
Sajjangarh – By Kumar Veetrag

Surrounding the fort is a forest blessed with rich flora and fauna. Earlier it was a hunting ground for Maharanas, but later, in 1987, the Forest Department of Government of Rajasthan made it “Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary”. It is a reserve for many wild animals like Chital, Wild boar, Sambar, Panther, Hare, Jackal, Blue Bull, etc. You can also see a wide variety of reptiles and hear the melodious chirps of lovely birds. If you are an adventure freak then you can also trek from Gorilla viewpoint to the Bari Lake where you get another chance to capture the beauty of Aravalli ranges and enjoy the thrill of wildlife diversity of the area.

There is a small perennial source of water, “The Jhar Water Hole”, on the western side of Hill. Numerous Mahua trees encircling it provide an amazing place to sit and enjoy the calmness and placidity of the place. A small temple of Lord Shiva situated close to it adds to its serenity.

If you want to add one more flavor in the weekend, then a drive around FS or a few minutes at its Pal will do the needful. At the end of the day, dinner at a restaurant while recollecting all those moments that left you awestruck will make a perfect ending of a perfect day.

Happyy Weekend Udaipiess..!! 😉 Go crazy with the winds, enjoy to the fullest and stay safe during any adventure… 🙂 Don’t forget to share your happy moments with your UdaipurBlog. 🙂

Weekend is the time to refresh yourself from a long tiring week and fill yourself up with new energy for a new working week; 2 days to hang out with friends, plan an outing with family and sensationalize your taste buds with delicious cuisines.

Hmmm I know, you must have already started thinking of a weekend plan in its greatest pace but this boiling heat would have put a brake on every plan of yours. But but but “When UB is here, there is nothing to fear”. These 3 years of my college life has made me a graduate in making hang out plans be it summers, winters or monsoon. So we’ll be helping you out for few upcoming weekends with ‘hang out plans’, recipes of some appetizing dishes, and restaurants in the city where to dine with your friends and family, and lots more.

This weekend let’s plan an outing at “Doodh Talai”, popularly named as DT among youngsters. It is at the Pal of Lake Pichola that will soothe you with its calm waters. It’s the place of beautiful gardens, the lush greenery of which will keep you cool despite the rising mercury outside. Be it a hangout plan with your friends, or to spend time with your family, there’s the perfect location and the perfect plan.

You can spend your afternoon in the various gardens of DT like DD Park or Deen Dayal Park and Manikya Lal Verma Park. Put a Reverse Gear in your age and start playing all those games you used to play in your childhood like Pakdam Pakdai, Hide and Seek, Vish Amrit, Nadi Pahad, and many more. You can even play Cards or any board games like Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, Business, Monopoly or the best of all times Antakshari. And I can bet there won’t be a pinch of stress left inside your mind after playing these games. There is also a Love Garden made especially for the love birds in the city but let me warn you – It’s Sunday, a family day. So if you are planning for Love Garden then just plan it on a weekday. 😉

Next in line to visit is Karni Mata Temple by Ropeway. You are sure to enjoy this Ropeway Ride. You can even enjoy over snacks in the Restaurant made over the hilltop. On returning back, you can sip your evening Tea, ek kadak adarak wali chai, at the Pal of Lake Pichola. As the sun sets down behind the scene, you can enjoy Jungle Safari Ride or a Boat Ride in Lake Pichola, capturing the panoramic view of sunset in the Lake.

There is also a Musical Fountain Show that plays in DD Park after sunset. You can breathe the scent of water and feel the splashes on your face while tapping your feet and watching the streams of water going up and down and changing its color on the beats of music.

At the end of the day, you can enjoy dinner in your favorite restaurant (PS: If you don’t have a fixed/favourite, There are too many of them nearby), chatting and laughing over the table. Your favorite ice cream scoop will make a perfect ending of a perfect weekend. Take as many photos as you can while posing wildly and stupidly at the camera. Months later, these snaps will help you recollect those golden moments.

Now there will be no more Monday Blues, but only an energetic start of a new week. Wishing you a Happy Sunday and a Happy Week ahead. 🙂
