“JUNOON” – Its all about Pop and Rock

The City of Lakes is slowly turning to a city of music, dance and passion. A good news for all the rock music fans out there. Well, our Udaipur is going to witness a real Rock and Pop concert – JUNOON. The show will be having solo, band performance of Joshua Tree accompanied by live performance of the Famous DJ Lloyd and lots of Rock and Pop which will be served as a treat for all the hard-core rock fans.

Now, comes the main attraction of JUNOON which is a band with an electronic mix of performers from all over Mumbai, The Joshua Tree. The members includes Joshua, Aiden, Sanju, Ishaan, Neil and Rachel who believes in pure music which can be understood by all. The band plays all sorts of tracks from soothing bollywood numbers to floor-banging hard-hitting rock numbers.

The members of the ever-so entertaining Joshua Tree are:

Joshua Vaz (Drums & Percussion): The most accomplished member in the band, Joshua has a wide repertoire of styles under his belt; The son of illustrious drummer and percussionist Franco Vaz and grandson of India’s legendary drummers, Leslie Godinho and Francis Vaz, it was inevitable that Joshua would carry the rich musical legacy into the next generation. He  has played with the most noted musical names in India such as Sonu Nigam, Vishal-Shekhar, Taufeeq Qureshi, Shibani Kashyap, Manasi Scott and a lot more.

Ishaan Krishna (Bass & Backing Vocals): Ishaan is the youngest member of the band. He is given a free rein with respect to bass lines and solos, and these are encouraged by the other band members. He has a variety of styles under his belt, from aggressive slap bass to melodic progressive styles. He is currently performing with Shibani Kasyap, Geeta Hinduja, The Bombay Rock Project and The Hookwink Circle.

Sanjeev Aguiar (Guitarist): The ever-funny guitarist from Thane, Sanju is known for his impeccable technique and distinct style. His playing style encompasses elements from various genres, especially blues and jazz. He is currently performing with The Bombay Rock Project, The Hoodwink Circle and is also a sessions musicians on the television talk show ‘Movers And Shakers’.

NEIL Gomes

Neil Gomes (multi-instrumentalist): Neil plays the violin, guitar, saxophone, piano, flute, mandolin, harmonica , cello etc   and that to with great skill. He has worked with tons of artists Kailash Kher, Shibani Kashyap, Neeeti Mohan, Luke Kenny and a lot more. He has also arranged, composed and played for Kailasa’a fourth album – Rangeele.

Aiden Lewis: A group is a shadow of its singer and The Joshua has a super-talented backbone Aiden Lewis who is not only the singer but the Rhythm guitarist of  the band. Apart from being portraying a stunning personality and called as the power house of the band Aiden is a master in grabbing its audience attention and fully succeeds in making them shake a leg. He can play and sing EVERYTHING from rock to jazz to bollywood and the list goes on. With an experience of travelling and singing worldwide Lewis is currently the lead vocalist for THE HOODWINK CIRCLE. Now, you surely can’t miss him guys.

Rachel Varghese

Rachel Varghese: A perfect woman is the one who is owner of a character with a combination of beauty and talent and she has a lot of them. Blessed with amazing and gorgeous looks Rachel Varghese is the winner of “The Get Gorgeous” in 2007. In addition of a melodious voice the girl has mastered in acting and modeling as well and has shown her talent in various brand commercials and has been a part of High School Musical. She had also showcased her talent in Madhur bhandarkar’s Fashion with the style icon Priyanka Chopra. So, a real celebrity is surely a worth watch.

Who Is an IAS officer..?? IAS i.e. Indian Administrative Service officer is basically a term used for collectors or the ones who roams in a “LAL BATTI” car if I talk in a typical common man language. Will only a ban on Gutka help?

“Intake Of Gutka Is Injurious To Health”, how many times do we all have read this line displaying on tv and pre-film commercials of Gutkas?

But, does any one of us even bother to do something to stop this unwanted habit of gutkas which is continuously spreading its vicious circle amongst the Udaipies. Many people on paan shops and kirana stores can be seen purchasing and consuming gutkas at a large-scale and making the small-scale gutka traders richer and richer. Although, gutkas are not alone the culprits, cigarettes have to be blamed equally for spoiling the future of the nation.

However, a step taken by the government towards stopping the habit of gutkas is initiated by banning the sale of pan masala and gutka in Jaipur and Pune is worth appreciating but I still think the step is incomplete unless it also ban smoking in public places and sale of cigarettes to minors. In addition, I believe that mere restriction on sale will not bring out any difference, its production have to be stopped as well.

The Gutka traders are obviously against the ban and they claim that like ban on polythene packing this ban is also not going to work for longer period because gutkas and pan masala is an addiction to regular takers which cannot be removed easily and until then this ban is also an opportunity for the black-marketers to become active. So, this time the officials of our health minister have to be extra careful and strict regarding the following of the ban and their decision of fining the culprit.

Also, the regular customers of the traders are also not supporting the ban as some of them think that taking a good quality paan masala or a high-branded gutka will not cause much harm to their health, so let me tell to all of them that a poison is a poison in every sense regardless it is branded or not and it imparts upon its user a “buzz” somewhat more intense than that of tobacco.

So, Udaipies next time if any one of you go for gutka, paan masala or a cigarette just think once the harm it has already caused or it is capable of causing.

All the above points are valid in their own place but the real questions are :

If gutkas are banned then why not cigarettes..??

Do this ban also be exercised in Udaipur as well..??

Think and decide for your own good….

Haryali Amavasya: Commencement of Monsoon and Feel of Nature

 

Haryali Amavasya, from our childhood we celebrate this day as a holiday and enjoy the haryali amavasya ka Mela at saheliyon ki bari Road but apart from this, the religious value of this day cannot be overlooked. From the age of our ancestors pujas are conducted on this day to please Lord Shiva. The Shravan month which signifies the commencement of monsoon, this day has its value in making us feel our nature again and the greenery of our Lakecity.
But, the real taste to this festival is added by the famous Rabri Malpuas of Udaipur which is my and I am sure all of us personal favourite. The lush green gardens and parks of Udaipur can be seen full of families enjoying the season and their holiday to the fullest. And now comes the most amazing part, The Haryali Amavasya Mela which begins from Saheliyon ki Bari Road and is spread till Fatehsagar and can be enjoyed by the Udaipies today. The various joy rides and swings, street vendors shouting and the happiness filled noices of children fill the surroundings with enjoyment. The pakodas in little rain can be enjoyed with tea. In addition to which there are Gubbare, Pupadias, pav-bhaji and many more.

The fair continues the next day in which entry of males is restricted and the female folks enjoy the fair and the centre of attraction are the jewellery stalls,and the colorful pins and accessories which they can buy at so cheap prices and feel happy about the same. People come together, dine and enjoy this day of the rainy season to its fullest.

But the sad part is that this jubiliant fair has lost its value in recent years. The so-called status minded people regard this fair is meant only for tribal people and this is the biggest reason why it has lost its value. We should understand that this fair is a symbol of our tradition and culture which needs to be preserved in the same way it was done in the past.

Manoj Gurjar and Chirag wadhwani of Mewar to be a part of ‘Laugh India Laugh’

The very talented and popular artist Manoj Gurjar of Mewar(Mavli) does not need much introduction. Apart from participating in various poetry competitions and functions he has also participated in a poetry conference on ETV channel and is also an active volunteer at the Girwa Panchayat Samiti.

Now this multi-talented poet cum entertainer is all set to make us laugh out as he has made his move towards the much hyped and new laughter show of Life OK “Laugh India Laugh“.  Manoj was selected in the Jaipur Auditions and will be competing against India’s 24 Best entertainers selected from all over the country. These laughter champions will be judged by famous celebrities like Singer Mika Singh and Actor-Producer Shekhar Suman who will select the Champion of Champions.

A Doctor is regarded and worshiped as GOD by a common man, they are trusted by the people who hand over the lives of their near and dear ones on them and a doctor always tries his/her best to save the life of the patient in the operation theatre.

But, does this fact ALWAYS holds correct….???

Well this  fact has been proved as a myth by the resident doctors of M.B. Hospital when they behaved brutally with  a help seeking son who came to them so that his mother could be saved. According to the sources, a 45-year old woman, Indira Kanwar who resides in Banswara was admitted in M.B. Hospital from past few days. There was no complain by her for the first few days but on 8th July 9.30 p.m. she suddenly started feeling uneasy and reverted about this to her son Jitendra Singh Chauhan who is a guest faculty at CTAE. But when the son ran to seek help from the resident doctor on duty that time, to his sudden shock he was ignored for the first time,  he didn’t lose hope and tried the second time but this time also his efforts were in vain. When helpless, Jitendra tried raising his voice against this injustice, the doctors instead of attending the lady started quarreling with him and other doctors also came over and collectively started beating Jitendra. The son who came there to make his mother well again was brutally beaten and in the fight fractured his arm, fingers and also bruised his ear. The doctors also misbehaved with the guard who came to rescue and stop the fight. This also was not enough that the doctors started beating other relatives too including the ladies. In addition, On the top of it the media also became their target that night.

President of Lakecity Press Club, Mr. Akhtar Hussain and others lodged an FIR against the doctors at Hathipole Police Station.

However, the Police and media controlled the situation but it raises several question marks on our medical council which needs to be answered…..

The biggest question is does their conscience  allow them to perform such activities..??

Happenings like these create a huge setback in the minds of the patients and their relatives which creates a negative image for every doctor. Jaisamand Lake: An Awesome Option for this Weekend

It’s a weekend again. Our favorite SUNDAY is here again and a rocking plan for spending a happening weekend “Banta Hai Boss”. After a week full of hard work, tensions, classes and pressure of completing our targets we all need a day full of fun with friends and family. The soaring high temperature which is increasing day by day makes me think of spending my weekend at a place that can make me forget the uneasiness caused by this heat.

So, Udaipies this week’s hangout option is JAISAMAND LAKE. Just 48 kilometers away from Lakecity, one can easily reach the second largest manmade lake of Asia for spending a rocking holiday. Built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1685, Jaisamand, also known as Dhebar Lake came into existence while constructing a dam on Gomti River. Besides enjoying the scenic beauty of the place you also have the advantage of enjoying the amazing backdrop of the lake which consists of a summer palace of Udaipur Queens.

Well, as we can’t visit an island in a day but Jaisamand fulfills the desire of island lovers too as it comprises of not one but seven islands. And now my favourite part, the lake has graceful marble steps which will take you to the journey of heaven when your feet will touch the lake water. At the top of the stairs is a Shiv temple for religious people. Yes, the same that showed up in the serial “Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai”. You can enjoy boat ride in the calm waters of the lake too, and have your lunch at the island resort. Wow, the hunch is adrenaline rush for itself. If you plan packing your own home made lunch for the family picnic, do have it at the “chhatris”(shade), but yes again, beware of the monkeys. They are quite professional beggars for food and irritating enough.

But wait, there’s is one more thing to be added in the “to visit” list which is the sanctuary near the lake. Yes, the place also serves the interest of nature and animal lovers; the lake has a sanctuary nearby that inhabitates different species of flora and fauna.

Rotary Club Meera’s Annual Meet for Closing Session 2011-12 Concluded

The Rotary Club of Udaipur Meera organized an annual meet cum facilitation ceremony, to mark an end to the glorious session of 2011-12. The function began today, 27th of June at RKay Mall in the afternoon by seeking almighty’s blessings after which President Dr.Veena Sanadhya began the meet by striking a hammer against the rotary gong.

Dr.Chirayu Pamecha, the renowned spine surgeon who is also the founder member of ‘Save a Child Trust’ was the guest of honor for the ceremony. He assured he would be helping the club in all possible ways personally and also with his trust. He informed that his trust has successfully operated poor children having spine related problems. He shared the prestigious stage with Promodini Baxi, a senior Advocate and CA Nirmal Singhvi, President Veena Sanadhya and Secretary Devika Singhvi.

President Dr.Veena then enlightened the audience by her speech in which she briefed about the works done by the organization over the year and thanked her mates for their meaningful contribution. She also quoted a beautiful line from a poem which resembled the ups and downs of her life’s journey. Being an emotional moment for her on the last day of her tenure as president, she admitted it was really a challenge to hold the president’s chair and bear the responsibilities, but with all the blessings and cooperation of her mates, she was thankfully able to take steps wisely.

After this, Promodini Baxi took over the stage and while delivering her speech she gave the good news that she will provide free services to the affected females who cannot afford the fees and said that a divorced woman should, instead of crying on her destiny and her in-laws should become self-sustainable and try to work in the field which interests and attracts her the most, she also assured that Rotary club will fully help in their rising.

A small felicitation award ceremony also followed the speech, in which Prasun Bannerjee from UdaipurBlog along with Mr. Zaheer Abbas from UdaipurTimes were honored for their successful and worth praising work in online media for the session 2011-12. Other respected dignitaries too were honored. In addition, prizes for ‘Badhte Kadam’, the programme for enlightenment of school and college students were also distributed. The Program successfully came to an end by a vote of thanks by the Secretary, Devika Singhvi.
