In the mid-century period, the choice of wayfarers was symbolic of a person’s fashion consciousness. The signature Ray-ban’s wayfarer frames have been basking in fashion glory for almost sixty years.

The Wayfarer Shape

There are many different kinds of human facial shapes like oval, heart-shaped, rectangular, square, diamond and others. Wayfarer frames are generally horizontal rectangle in shape. They are well-suited for oval faces as the full-frame matches the width of the face. For round faces, the wider and square shape forms a nice contrast to the circular face dimension. The Wayfarer Colour Choice

You will find wayfarer frames in different colours. It ensures that they complement the tones of your skin, eyes and hair. Wayfarer frames are available in both cool and warm tones. Frames in cool tones comprise of black, silver, rose-brown, magenta, plum, blue, jade and other colours. Warm tones have khaki, camel, gold, copper, peach, orange, coral, off-white and others. The basic black coloured frame is neutral by contrast and pairs well with everything.

Wayfarers Complement all Outfits

Another advantage of wayfarer frames is that you can easily team them with both formal and casual wear. The bold frames make them ideal eyeglasses for the workplace. Smart casuals can also be paired well with wayfarer frames. These eyeglasses set a fashion statement and go well with all kinds of outfits. Also, since these eyeglasses have a lively look, you may even wear them to a party or an outing, pairing it with a nice outfit.

Classic and Modern Wayfarer Frames

Mostly the standard wayfarer frames have a horizontal bar that rests on top of the nose with rounded lens frames. Usually, the top corners of the frame extend out a bit. The new wayfarers are similar to the original design. The only difference is that in these frames the tilt is minimized for increased comfort.

The wayfarer spectacles ensure that you create a difference in your everyday look. The following options are some popular choices of wayfarer frames:

Fearless Udaipur girl who drove from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on Activa

Embarked on a journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari – the full north to south stretch of India – Udaipur’s Neetu Chopra was on a mission to spread the message of women safety.
Named as #RideForRevolution, Neetu took this journey on December 15 after the infamous case of Hyderabad gang-rape in which a veterinary doctor, riding an Activa, was raped and killed brutally by four men late in the evening, sent a shock to the entire nation.
Through this act, Neetu wanted to spread the message of women safety and importance of self-defence in a woman’s life. She believes that it is important for the women in the society to be strong and come out of their safe zones.
With her 4600 km long journey, Neetu achieved the title of India Book of Record for “The Longest Ride on Activa by a girl” where she covered 10 states in 18 days while conducting self-defence sessions at 38 places.

The 28-year-old FreeFlying Eagle, as she calls herself, left home on an Activa, on December 15, 2019, to travel solo all the way to Kashmir and then to Kanyakumari, the southern tip of mainland India. She covered a distance of more than 7,600 km across India in 42 days.

Udaipur Achievers
The final route map

Neetu says that her purpose was simple and clear:

“People say that girls should stay indoors; they should not go out alone after dark. I wanted to prove them wrong. I want girls to move without fear.”

She wanted to prove to the society that it can be done and that is the reason she travelled alone across the country to encourage girls to have confidence and faith in themselves.

Neetu, who has pursued her MBA, runs an event management company named Nitanju Events. She has also been a part of the National Cadet Corps during her college days therefore also an adventure enthusiast.

Neetu says,

“I know that every girl is not an athlete and she might not be physically strong, but they must be mentally prepared. They should not be scared when faced with a dangerous situation”

She did the journey from Madurai-Kanyakumari at night to prove that is was safe to do so.

During her trial run from Udaipur to Kashmir, Neetu realised that two men were following her on a bike near Pali. They kept honking to annoy her. Realising that she could not outpace them on a scooter, Neetu stopped the vehicle, took off her helmet and yelled at them till they left her alone.

After that incident, she realised that keeping some safety measures handy is important. So she got her helmet fixed with a visor which, if broken, would send a signal to the nearest ambulance service. Besides, Neetu also carried a Taser with her for self-defence throughout the journey.

Her live location was shared with the All Indian Riders Group and the Jain Society, all the time.

Her advice to girls is:

“When you are travelling alone, never speed. In fact, travel at a safe speed. Girls must undergo self-defence training and be mentally prepared and alert.”

Her idea of women’s independence doesn’t only mean financial independence. She feels:

“A woman should be allowed to make her own decisions without constraints.”

How to travel in India during the COVID19 Pandemic?

The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically curtailed air travel around the world, and airports are experiencing a significant decrease in passenger traffic. After the country resumed its air services, airports have stepped up their cleaning regimen and airlines have adopted new measures of safety like screening passengers for abnormal temperatures to protect the travellers.

Although the suspension on domestic travel has been lifted, the travel is still conditional. So, if it is not absolutely necessary, it is recommended to avoid travelling.

However, if you are required to board a flight, apart from the guidelines issued by the ministry, there are some more points to consider in terms of baggage, security check requirements, and other check-in facilities.

Every passenger travelling in a flight is required to download the Aarogya Setu App. If you do not have it, the airport staff will facilitate you to download it right there.

If you plan to drop your car at the airport, or if someone has come to drop you, you need to follow social distancing norm even to park your vehicle at the airport parking.

At the entry gate also, one needs to strictly follow the social distancing norm by following the red marking on the floor.

While the security check at the entry, you just need to show your eTicket/ Boarding pass along with an ID. No stamping will be done.

There is an allotted area to keep your gadgets aside in a tray during the security check.

Do not sit on chairs marked with a cross/ribbon tied / stickers saying not to sit.

As per the norms, all the bags are sanitized before loading into the aircraft. In fact, as per the information shared by one of the pilots at IndiGo, Udaipur airport is sanitizing the bags twice – once at the airport entry gate and before getting the bags loaded into the aircraft.

For those who want to check-in their bags, must know that only a cabin bag and a check-in bag is allowed under the new guideline. The check-in bag weighing not more than 20 kg will be allowed. However, a laptop bag or a ladies handbag in addition to your cabin baggage can also be accompanied in the flight.

Besides, no bags can be kept in the overhead bin except for the passengers sitting in the first row and for those sitting at the emergency exit rows.

Passengers will have to do web check-in to ensure minimal human contact. Also, it is advised to take a print-out of the baggage tag at the time of web check-in and paste it on the baggage. If the printer facility is not available, write the ticket PNR along with the passenger name on a piece of paper and paste it on the bag. Web check-in can be done between 48 hours to 60 minutes before the flight.

Before boarding, the passengers will be provided with a safety kit containing face shield, surgical mask, a sachet of sanitizer and disposable plastic gloves. Wearing the face shield is mandatory in the aircraft.

Meal service will not be available on the flight. The flights will only provide water bottles to the travelling passenger.

After landing, de-boarding will be done row-wise as per the announcement made the aircraft crew. Besides, limited passengers will be allowed on the bus to ensure social distancing.

Social distancing has to be ensured at the baggage collection belt as well.

Passenger coming from a containment zone is not allowed to fly. Passengers have to sign an undertaking declaring they are not coming from a containment zone, and that they have no symptoms of COVID.

The above information is been provided by Miti Godawat, Pilot – First Officer IndiGo.

Pashupati Kalyan Parishad: A safe haven for abandoned, distressed animals

Animal activist Suman Bose’s NGO, Pashupati Kalyan Parishad is providing a safe haven for abandoned, distressed animals for the last two decades.

The Udaipur-based animal shelter houses over 250 sick and disabled animals and gives them a second chance at life.

Nestled amid the lush green Balicha village on National Highway No. 8, Udaipur is a more than 1-acre spread that is home to over 300 animals. It is a bona fide barnyard — small-sized creatures such as rabbits and cats along with bigger species of dogs, donkeys, cows and buffalos can all be found here.

Pashupati Kalyan Parishad Udaipur

Founded in 1997 by animal lover and activist Suman Bose, the NGO Pashupati Kalyan Parishad (PKP) aims to give animals a place where they are protected and free from the cruelties of the world. It provides sick and disabled animals with a safe sanctuary for a lifetime.

PKP Animal Shelter Udaipur

PKP was formed to mitigate the recurrent drought-like situation in villages around Udaipur city, as farmers failed to feed their livestock and abandoned them. These animals swamped the streets of Udaipur and cattle smugglers found it easy to transport these animals to the slaughterhouses. The organisation took in abandoned cattle, as well as those cattle that were rescued from the slaughterhouses.

Besides, some lame and old cattle that were abandoned at the main veterinary hospital of Udaipur were also relocated to and adopted by the PKP shelter.

PKP Udaipur

Suman says,

“A native of Himachal Pradesh, I did my graduation from Delhi and got married to Dr Pradeep Bose, a veterinary doctor and rural management post-graduate. We both loved animals. It was when my husband was posted in RSMML in 1993, I came to Udaipur. During my stay in the city, I experienced that the streets of Udaipur are flooded with abandoned cattle from nearby villages.

I used to take the sick cattle from the abandoned herd for treatment to the veterinary hospital at Chetak Circle. I did this for four years – from 1995 to 1999.”

In the year 1997 Suman along with nine other people, formed a board and the NGO, Pashupati Kalyan Parishad, got registered as a public society. With the support of Udaipur Municipal Committee, she began her work for the animal shelter in Goverdhan Vilas village in the year 1999 with around 100 abandoned cattle.

She then extended her work to Titardi village with about 250 abandoned cattle. It was only in the year 2001 that PKP’s shelter shifted to Dakan Kotra village and expanded to house about 900 abandoned cattle.

Pashupati Kalyan Parishad

Seeing the outstanding work of protecting and sheltering abandoned animals, the organisation started getting private donations in the form of fodder, feed and medicines. In 2001, PKP got a piece of land in Balicha as a donation after which the shelter campus was shifted from Dakan Kotra to Balicha in 2002.

The funds for sheds come largely from the Animal Welfare Board of India. Rajasthan government’s Goshala department also gives some financial support to PKP during the times of droughts. Besides, owing to the 80-G benefit in Income Tax, PKP also gets some private donations from individuals and organizations.

After the retirement of Suman’s husband, Dr Pradeep Bose, in 2016, he started to look after the healthcare program for the shelters’ animals.

“One of the most challenging tasks is to gather regular funds for the shelter. I desire to have a bigger place for more animals, I want to manufacture some Gaushala-based products to meet the expenses” says Suman.

We hope and pray that she gets more resources to provide food, shelter and care to the abandoned animals.

What is a COVID-19 Containment Zone and why is it created?

With the spread of coronavirus infections, one thing that is also rising is the use of the jargons around the COVID-19 related news. One such term is “containment zone”.

Udaipur Administration recently declared the entire city area of Udaipur as a containment zone after the sudden blast of corona cases.

Here’s a quick look at what the term stands for and how are such zones determined in tackling the coronavirus spread.

What is a containment zone?

A COVID-19 containment zone refers to a specific geographical area where positive cases of coronavirus are found.

According to the Ministry of Health, every confirmed COVID-19 case is considered as an epicentre (the residence of the positive case or the place where he was putting up when he was found positive) and micro-plan activities will need to be done.

Containment zones are created to map the local transmission of the disease and prevent the contagion from spreading. They are identified by the Rapid Response Team (RRT) based on the extent of cases listed and mapped by them.

How is a containment zone determined?

Containment zones are earmarked by the states, UTs and district administration.

The perimeters of the containment zone are decided based on the number of positive cases in the area, contact tracing history and population density.

The RRT demarcates the area of 3-kilometre radius around the epicentre if contact listing and mapping take more than 24 hours. This area of 3 km radius is the containment zone.

If required, based on the mapping of contacts and cases, the containment zone is refined.

Guidelines for Containment Zones as per Ministry of Home Affairs (https://www.mha.gov.in)

https://www.mha.gov.in/sites/default/files/MHA%20order%20dt%2015.04.2020%2C%20with%20Revised%20Consolidated%20Guidelines_compressed%20%283%29.pdf

Entry and exit of people are severely restricted in this zone except for maintaining essential services (medical emergencies, law and order related duties).

The administration gives a contract to vegetable vendors, milk vendors and some grocery stores for distributing these essentials. These are delivered by the vendors to people the people directly to their home.

Medical screening (fever survey) is conducted and symptomatic persons are transferred to hospitals.

Disinfectant spraying (sanitizing) is to cover the entire area.

The protocol for tracing and quarantining each new positive case to family and primary contacts will be followed.
