Are these places in Udaipur haunted?

While all of us have grown listening about the beautiful places and rich culture of Udaipur, there are some places which have some inexplicable stories associated with them. People from Udaipur have witnessed some weird incidents and claims that the place consists of some paranormal activities.

Let us see what these places are and what kind of activities and stories people claim there to be –

Natni ka Chabutra

Are these places in Udaipur haunted?

Legend says that once upon a time there was a king named Maharana Jawan Singh, in city palace who assured a Natni (tightrope walker who performs various dance and activities on a rope in the air) that he would gift her half of his kingdom if she will cross the rope tied from a village on the west bank of the lake to the City Palace on the east bank. Just when she was about to finish it, the fearful king ordered to cut the rope and the Natni drowned and died in the water. Just before she died she cursed the Maharana’s family. Since then, the place is said to be haunted and no one is allowed to go there.

Apart from its rich heritage sites and colorful streets, it is also said to be the home of some inexplicable energies that prove their existence in nights. Some of the residents claim that they’ve heard and experienced something paranormal in this place. This area is said to be between Tibetan market to Jagdish temple. It is said that the kings and their kingdom who lived here once upon a time still roam around the area to ensure the safety of the place.

Bedla mata

Bedla Mata is a Hindu temple situated at Bedla road in Udaipur. It is said that the goddess of this temple takes away the ghost of people when you visit the temple and do some ritual which is to go under a shallow cave made of stones for three times. It is also said that when you return from the temple, do not look back and if you do all the ghosts that people left there will come right behind you. Scared already?

Badi Lake

There are so many Udaipurites who have different ghost stories when it comes to Badi Lake. Well, I will start with one. There was this group of 4-5 people who were on a night out and went to Badi Lake. When they were returning from there at some time around 10:00 pm, they heard a loud voice and at that very instant when they looked on the road, some unrecognizable figure crossed the road.

While night outs are all fun and frolic, such incidents make us think about it again.

Watch this viral video of Badi where a ghost was encountered.

Fatehsagar

Fatehsagar is one of the most popular lakes not only in Udaipur but all around the country. Its beauty attracts all the local people of the city as well as tourists from all around the world but ever heard that its water invites death?

There is a saying which is spread all across the city that when the first heavy rain of monsoon touches and fill the water of Lake Fatehsagar, it invites one death. People say that whoever swimming in the water of Lake Fatehsagar after heavy rains get pulled by some energy inside the water and don’t let them swim across the surface causing death.

It might be possible that you and I won’t believe it but the people who have suffered such incident will only know the horror of it. If you are one of these people who has encountered such strange activities in the town, share your experience with us in the comments section.

And until then be safe.

Do you know about the Maharana Pratap Vijay Smarak in Dewair?

A battle between the armies of Maharana Pratap and Mughals took place on Vijaya Dashami at Dewair valley. Both the Generals of the Mughal army Sultan Khan and Bahlol Khan got killed in the battle and as a result, the hill was captured by Maharana Pratap, which is now known as “Meva Ka Mathara”. This place is situated around 1 km north-west of the village of Dewair.Maharana Pratap Vijay Smarak in Dewair

In remembrance of this historic victory of Maharana Pratap, the State Government had constructed a huge National Victory Monument at Meva ka Mathara under Mewar Complex Plan. This monument was inaugurated by first female President of India her Excellency President Madam Pratibha Devi Singh Patil on 10th January 2012. Dedicated to the historic victory achieved, this monument is a humble tribute from the Nation to Maharana Pratap.Maharana Pratap Vijay Smarak in Dewair

History of Dewair

In the olden days, Dewair was ruled by various people, from Mair Caste to Deveda Rajputs. Dewair’s geographical location is very important from the strategic perspective as various ways to Marwar, Mewar, Gujarat, and Malva pass from Dewair.

The Battlefield “Dewair ki Naal” (Dewair Valley) is situated around 2 K.M. South West to the village Dewair. The famous battle of Dewair had started here on Vijaya Dashmi, 1582.

After Haldighati battle Mughal King Akbar established various Mughal posts in Mewar through Dewair Route. During his establishments, he continued to invade Mewar through his representatives Maan Singh, Bhagwan Das, Todar Mal and Shaah Baaz Khan etc. But Maharana Pratap continued to diffuse his invasions by using Guerrilla warfare. Maharana Pratap in this duration started re-uniting and strengthening his army and collecting weapons with the help of his allies from Sirohi, Ieder, Jalore etc.Maharana Pratap Vijay Smarak in Dewair

He spread a rumor that he had left Mewar and surrendered all his operations. By this diplomatic step, he deceived the Mughal emperor and attacked the strongest Mughal post situated at Dewair.

In this Epic Battle Maharana Pratap and his Son, Kunwar Amar Singh displayed extreme valor and courage. Maharana Pratap chopped Mughal Commander Bahalol Khan into two pieces including his horse in one strike of his sword. Whereas, his son Kunwar Amar Singh had killed Sultan Khan in one strike of his Spear.

Battlefield of Dewair Valley and Meva Ka Mathara are the evidence of the historic win of Maharana Pratap in Dewair.  Due to this historic win, Mughal forces had automatically left 36 posts in Mewar Region. Through this battle, Maharana Pratap took the revenge of Haldighati and undoubtedly, this war is the brightest milestone achieved by him during his lifetime.

rana sanga mewar warrior | udaipurblog

rana sanga mewar warrior | udaipurblog

rana sanga mewar warrior | udaipurblog

rana sanga mewar warrior | udaipurblog

In the year 2010, Chunda Palace began its operations and if we talk about the current date, the palace has maintained its beauty and has been the epitome of Udaipur’s celebrated past.

Ghyanshyam singh ji

Thakur Ghanshyam Singh Krishnawat has two sons, Veeramdev Singh Krishnawat and Yaduraj Singh Krishnawat, who take care of Chunda Palace now.

Why the name ‘Chunda’ Palace?

Rawat Chunda was the eldest son and the obvious successor of Maharana Lakha of Mewar. Rawat Chunda, however, handed over the throne of Mewar to his younger brother Maharana Mokal but he continued to serve the house of Mewar. Rawat Chunda’s clan is also the ancestral clan of Thakur Ghanshyam Singh Krishnawat.

The hotel gets its name from Rawat Chunda and hence is known as Chunda Palace.

Inside the Hotel

Chunda Palace preserves a distinct identity and is one of the most revered hotels in Udaipur. The locale in which the palace is situated can be taken as an idyllic one- neighboring Oberoi’s Udai Vilas and Trident.

20 years hence, the Palace still has its work ongoing- the paintings are still being done on the walls and ceilings. The palace has artwork indigenous to the Mewar region. The artistry on the ceilings is one of a kind and include gold plating with natural colors. Mewar’s Bhitti Chitra Miniature Paintings and glass inlay work can be seen vividly on all the walls and ceilings. The furniture is made of wood, silver, brass and camel bone.

Beautiful chandeliers line the ceiling and a blissful aroma is always filled in the entire Palace.
