Lord Ram’s mystical cave at Banswara!

Located just 156 KM (3-hour drive) from Udaipur is Banswara. Banswara is immensely beautiful, having a lot of places to explore. One such mystical and mysterious place is Ram Kund in Banswara. Having said that it’s a kund, you might infer that it would be a small pond. Let me reconfirm your beliefs that this place is not a small pond but a cave.

Let us read through to know about this amazing place.

All about Ram Kund:

Ram Kund, also known as ‘Phati Khaan’, is situated at a distance of 25 km from Banswara. It is nestled amidst a barren and deserted area. It is surrounded by hills and located inside one of them. The whole cave inside the hill has a reservoir and turquoise waters flow through it, which is truly a mesmerizing thing to watch noting the fact that we are in Rajasthan.

source: rajasthan tourism

The cave is situated 300-400 meters below the ground, so one has to climb up the hill and then go inside where the cave can be found. The temperatures fall down drastically when one enters the cave; the outside temperature can be taken as double when compared to the temperature in the inside of the cave. The water in the reservoir is always freezing cold.

Mythology related to Ram Kund:

According to the Hindu mythology, Lord Ram with his wife Sita and brother Laxman visited this place during his exile and drank water from the reservoir. This is the reason why the place is known as Ram Kund. Not only this, it is also believed that Tatya Tope, a great Indian Freedom Fighter in the year 1857, used this place for hiding from the British and making war strategies against them.

Best time to visit Ram Kund:

The best time to visit this place is during the monsoon seasons because the hills are lush green and the whole atmosphere is blissful.

The present state of Ram Kund:

Ram Kund is not commercialized up till now but the present state of this baffling place is not very good. People come here and litter around, rather than saving the natural beauty it is.

Here is a glimpse of the situation at Ram Kund, Watch Here:

What can the government and locals do to save this natural marvel?

I am awestruck by the beauty of the place Banswara is and I am thinking to update you more about beautiful places in and around Banswara. What are your thoughts upon this wonderful place? Pen down your thoughts in the comments section below.

Too much crowd on the city streets and congestion on the road? Well, we bet that would increase every year. Udaipur is indeed a sought after destination for people across the country as well as in the whole world. Diwali vacations have just ended and we can still spot many tourists on the streets.

Source: UdaipurTimes

A recent report from the famous travel website MakeMyTrip.com cites that with Goa topping the charts, Udaipur had the second highest domestic travel bookings in the country at the time of the festive Diwali season. And not only this, stats show that the city of lakes has witnessed an upsurge of 56 percent in travel bookings across the nation.

Know about the most loved festival of Udaipur- Udaipur Light Festival 2018

Udaipur’s Most Loved Festival made history on 4th November 2018! A whooping footfall of 8000+ people was witnessed on the event day. Yes! You heard me right! 8000+ people; which is undoubtedly the highest number ever seen in any private festival In and Around Udaipur. This whole write-up is dedicated to the tiniest to the largest elements of Udaipur Light Festival 2018, which made the festival ‘Oh-So-LIT’!!!

For all those who were a part of this colossal and magnificent festival can relive the memories, while for the ones who didn’t show up- we are giving you reasons why to attend the festival NEXT YEAR!

The 7th Year of Udaipur Light Festival was not just bigger and better but an epitome of excellent celebrations for the people of Udaipur. A one-of-a-kind and state-of-art concept of UDAIPURBLOG that is new and fresh every year- as they say, “Fine Wine Gets Better with Time”.

So, what made ULF so LIT…LIT AF?

A festival for the people of Udaipur

ULF is indeed the most loved and happening festival and we the people of Udaipur long to attend such an amazing day around Diwali. Starting from the venue I have listed everything that has made ULF 2018 a MEGA HIT.

Venue

The spanking venue, little away from the hustle bustle of the main city, nestled amidst nature- Shouryagarh Resort & Spa was one idyllic place for ULF. All green and ample space for creating the magic of ULF 2018.

Theme

This year ULF was inspired by Light so you wouldn’t have to guess or be surprised to find a décor with a lot of light and LIT elements. An amazing theme to compliment the concept of Diwali Season, sure to transcend you to another world!

Artists

Kutle Khan at ULF 2018
BPRAAK at ULF 2018
DJ DUO Shameless Mani & Shanaya at ULF 2018

A power-packed lineup is all you need to make the crowd ga-ga! Kutle Khan Project was the first artist to perform at ULF 2018 and no doubt the folk artist took our hearts away with his energetic stage presence. Headlining the event was ‘Musical Journey by B PRAAK’ who has sung some amazing songs including the very famous, Mann Bharrya. The artist gave a powerful performance and the people of Udaipur loved him.

Last up, the amazing DJ-Duo Shameless Mani & Shanaya took the stage and dropped some pounding bass. Their performance was dripping in energy and electric vibe! The event flow was amazingly managed by dashing Emcee Vishaal Aloysius Rasquinha.

How many of you did actually lose track of time? I know a lot would say yes!

Stages

Never-seen-before, there were 2 stages at ULF 2018. The LBERT acoustic stage which I could call the eye-candy stage became the major attraction during the daytime. With back to back singers, percussionists and lot many multi-genre artists performing live, this stage was on fire.

The Main Stage got the best of the attention of the crowd after the dusk began. The blinding lights coordinated with music were amazing and peeps were TRIPPIN’ over it which made it totally LIT!!!

Sound

The never seen before heart throbbing Sound on LAcoustics K2 which touched everyone’s heart and soul.

Production

Seriously, guys, that is something you can call LIT AF! The entry was lit and then my favorite part- the LED screen placement of ‘UDAIPUR’. The stage, the photo booths, the décor at the food court and whatnot; the production was never seen before a no-brainer.

Food Court

8 food stalls at the food court of ULF catering to diverse taste buds were located just as you entered the main arena close to the LBERT acoustic stage. The food stalls also accepted electronic mode of payment easing out hassle, giving you a cashless experience.

Adventure Zone

First time in Udaipur, Body Zorbing was introduced in any festival or an event. Also, there were Water roller and Meltdown which were also new to any event in Udaipur.

LIVE Men’s Grooming

In association with our men’s grooming partner, LBERT Men’s Grooming, ULF 2018 witnessed a whole new concept of LIVE men’s grooming. Guys could actually go there and get themselves groomed at the stall. There were two hair stylists present at the stall who were styling hair and beards of the guys. It was again a one-of-a-kind concept in any event in Udaipur.

Zero tolerance to drugs and any malpractices

“We cannot control everyone present at the venue, but we make sure to check everyone prior to entering in the venue. We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to any kind of narcotics or malpractices. When someone is caught with drugs or indulged in any kind of ill-practice we immediately expel them out of the festival,” Ronak Chauhan, Team ULF.

The presence of drugs, cigarettes and other forms of narcotics cannot be denied at any festival but we keep our policies straight.

Behind Udaipur’s most loved festival

Behind the scenes is too mainstream, we work on the front! Hard work, dedication, round-the-clock work and days of sweating in the sun has made ULF a masterpiece as it is. A special thanks to all our team members and volunteers, without them it can never have that essence of glory!

We would also like to extend our gratitude towards our main sponsors without whom ULF would not have emerged as one great festival: MIRAJ Group, Rivona Naturals, LBERT Men’s Grooming.

The amazing production team which made it well coordinated and LIT –

Mega Sound – For the Amazing Sound that Udaipur got to experience.

Ananta Stage Craft – For the LIT Stage Lights.

Apsara Tent House –  For the Ground Production & Decor.

Bharat LED Wall – For the Creative ‘UDAIPUR’ LED.

Associates and Supporters: 94.3 MY FM, Pearl Suzuki, Astronomia Shoppe, VJ Ravi, Thrill zone, Shouryagarh Resort and Spa, Bling Ping Motion Pictures, Star Photoworks, Sancheti Automobiles, Forum Celebration Mall, Assure IT Infra, Naman Fireworks & Events, The Enchanted Affair, Phonographic Performance Limited, NOVEX, Royal Stache, Robin Hood Army, Pukaar Foundation, Dynamic Security, and BFSA.

Food Stall Partners: The Rolls Carro, Book A Surprise, Desi Bites by MN, Foodies Cafe, Ice Cream Works, OMG Gaming Zone and Food Court, Sai Sagar, and Sigdi Chai.

Wishing you a delightful year ending and a great start of the new year.

Looking forward to writing about this amazing festival once again in 2019!!

Amrakh Mahadev Temple – A 1500 Year Old Treasure of Udaipur

Resting beautifully at a distance of 10 km from the Udaipur city is the ancient Amrakh Mahadev temple. The history of the temple ages back to 1500 years. The temple is under the supervision of Prabhav Kumar Dashora, who is the chief priest there. He told us that the temple and the nearby land was acquired by his ancestors in lieu of the astrological work they did.

The less known temple near the city is scarcely visited by the locals, let alone the tourists. However, the footfall increases a bit during the monsoon season as people consider the temple as picnic destination being surrounded by the lush greenery of the Aravali hills.

History of the temple

Around 1500 years ago, there was a king named Raja Ambrish. The king left all the worldly pleasures and came to the place to worship Shiv Ji. Every day to worship the Shiv linga of the Mahadev, he used to go to the River Ganga to bring water which he would use in the Abhishek of the Shivlinga. Goddess Ganga was so impressed by his faith and devotion that one day she decided to come along with the king and from then on it is said that the water of the River Ganga is flowing in the temple. The place where the water flows is known as Gang Kund. According to the Pujari, the kund has never dried even during the situation of drought.

Source: trell

The King later became popular with the name Amar Rishi which is why the temple is named as Amrakh Mahadev temple.

About the temple

There are two temples in the premises. One is where the idol of Raja Ambrish is situated who achieved salvation at the place and the other temple homes the statue of four faced Mahadev who was worshipped by the King. This statue was constructed by the rulers after the King Ambrish as per his wish.

Most of the temple was ruined during the Mughal era where the Mughals fragmented the temple as well as the statues. The temple took 10 years to get renovated beginning from the year 1993 and getting completed by the year 2003.

The remains of the temple can still be seen in the temple where pillars and the lower portion of the temple reflect the 1500 years old architecture. Some carving can be seen on the upper side of the inside of the dome.

Gang Kund can be spotted outside the temple where one can witness a variety of fishes. It is said that drinking the water of the kund heals several diseases.

Major events at the temple

Source: pictadesk

Every year on the next day of Rakshabandhan, which is also known as ‘Thandi Rakhi’ a fair is conducted at the place. Vibrant food stalls, eateries, and rides can be seen in the fair which is attended by 20-25 thousand people from nearby villages every year. It is said that the fair is taking place from the mythological era. Apart from that, on every new moon day, a grand Kaalsarp Pooja takes place at the temple which is attended by the devotees of the lord.

Here’s Everything You Need to Know about Mewari Language

Mewari is one of the major dialects (A language which is only spoken, not written) of the Rajasthani language. Although, in modern times some written forms of the language are available in the Mewar region such as the Mewari dictionary by Nirmaan society. Along with Mewari, Rajasthani language includes some other dialects too such as Marwari, Malvi, Dhundhari, Harauti, Mewati, Shekhawati, Wagri, Bagdi, Dhatki, Godwari, Gujari, Gurgula, Goaria, and Lambadi.

The name of the language is taken from the region it belongs to which is Mewar. In the present day, the region of Mewar includes districts of Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Udaipur, Pirawa Tehsil of Jhalawar District of Rajasthan, Neemuch, and Mandsaur of Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Gujarat.

Source: 121 Clicks

Mewari is the second largest language in Rajasthan and plays a vital role in Rajasthani literature. It is spoken by five million speakers in Rajasthan. However, the existence of the language is getting diminished as Hindi and English is taking over it in Rajasthan.

Origin of Mewari language

All the Rajasthani languages belong to the Western Indo-Aryan language family. The origin of the language is not specifically known but it is said that the earliest use was found in the late 19th century (1865 – 1936) in a book by Rudyard Kipling. As for the Rajasthani language, the rich tradition of the literature of it ages approx. 1500 years ago.

In 779 AD, Udhyotan Suri wrote Kuvalaya Mala partly in Prakrit and partly in Aprabransh. Apart from that, Maru Gurjar or Maruwani (1100-1500 AD) was spoken by Gurjars in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Some texts of this era also display some Gujarati characteristic features. It had three genders as the Gujarati language does today. It was during the medieval period, the literary language split away from Gujarati.

Source: The Indian Wire

By around 1300 CE, a fairly standardized form of the language emerged. The language which was known as Old Gujarati was called as Old Western Rajasthani preferred by some scholars.

Official status of the language

Rajasthani language wasn’t recognized by the national and international authorities before 1873. In the same year, westerners like Samuel H. Kellogg considered the dialects of Rajasthani language as a subgroup of western Hindi. Samuel possessed enough knowledge about the Indian languages. He revised the Hindi translation of the Bible and wrote the book ‘Hindi Vyaakran’ which was a well-received grammar book.

George Abraham Grierson | Source: Wikipedia

After that, in 1908, George Abraham Grierson, who was an Irish British administrator and linguist in British India, considered the dialects jointly under the name of Rajasthani.

In today’s date, Sahitya Akademi and University Grants Commission has recognized Rajasthani as a distinct language and is taught in both Jodhpur’s Jai Narain Vyas University and Udaipur’s Mohanlal Sukhadiya University. The state Board of Secondary Education has included Rajasthani in its course of studies and it has been an optional subject since 1973.
