Direct Flight from Aurangabad to Udaipur and then to Jodhpur

Direct Flight will be started by Jet Airways from Aurangabad to Udaipur which will take a short stop and then will go to Jodhpur. The flight will begin from March, connecting both of these places to the city through the air.

Source: YouTube

This air connectivity of Udaipur with Jodhpur will be continued after a long time span wherein the connectivity was broken when the Supreme Airlines stopped operating here. These Flight connections come under the third phase of RCS or Regional Connectivity Scheme which is also known as UDAN.

These new flights have come with a potential of great tourism within the range of Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Aurangabad. All the three places attract a large chunk of tourists every year for their own reasons. Udaipur well-known for being the City of Lakes has been a priority in the bucket list of all the tourists. On the other hand, Aurangabad houses the Ajanta Ellora caves which also attract tourists from all over the world. Also, Shirdi being at a distance of 2-3 hrs from Aurangabad, homes several Shirdi devotees.

The RCS or the Regional Connectivity Scheme provides flight for affordable flight charges. Most of the ATR flight are operated under this very scheme where the flight are scaled at Rs. 2500/-

Govind From Udaipur who Turned his Disability into Strength

In your entire life, did you ever come across a thought that ‘I won’t be able to do it’? If you have, then this article will definitely change your perception towards life.

The story revolves around a boy named Govind Kharol, who is 25-years-old, born in an ordinary family in Udaipur. Like every other kid, Govind was expected to join a school, find a job and spend his life in the human race we all are a part of. But as easy as it sounds to us, as challenging it was for Govind.

He was born with a differently abled body with no right arm and partially developed left arm with just two fingers which is the reason why these ordinary things turned out to be a challenge for him. As he grew up, he realized that he was different which lead him to a struggle to get admission in a regular school. The usual advice that he used to get from the authorities was that he should get admission to a special school where he could get ‘proper attention’. But this wasn’t enough to shake his confidence. And finally, at the age of 5, he got admission in a regular school.

Initially, he was very shy and kept to himself but being good at studies, he turned out to be a dear student to all the teachers.

One day some people from Shikshantar came to his school. Govind became quite fascinated with the way of creative learning they offered blended with interesting games. He then visited Shikshantar and the first question he was asked was “What is your dream? What do you want to be in your life?” The question left him clueless and acted as a turning point in his life as this was the first time when someone asked him a question like this.

Govind’s interest lied in filmmaking. After attending a few filmmaking workshops, he made his first film ‘Sher Ka Zukham’ with the Shikshantar team. His film was highly appreciated which motivated him to continue it as a profession.

In the phase of growing up, Govind faced numerous challenges. After crossing the hurdle of education, he applied for a job. At first, he got selected based on his resume but as soon as the recruiter saw him, the first statement that left his mouth was ‘You won’t be able to do it’. He tried to convince the recruiter to let him try for once, but he was asked to leave. The entire episode shattered him.

He decided to rejoin Shikshantar and pursue his filmmaking venture only to realize that this is what actually makes him happy. He bought his own laptop and a camera from his personal savings and also opened a studio which was a big achievement for him.

The sport that turned his disability into power

Since childhood, he had admired the sport of cycling. He used to see people his age could easily ride a cycle. For several times, the thought to learn bicycling crossed his mind but the question was how would he do it! It made him distressed to know that he couldn’t do a thing as ordinary as riding a bicycle. But somewhere in his mind, it made him more determined to learn it.

In the beginning, he was not able to apply brakes in his cycle and had to use his legs to stop it. He realized that he had to get it modified. He knocked the door of several shops in Udaipur who could help him with the modification. After numerous attempts, one of them modified his bicycle and placed the brakes near the front tyre of the cycle. This made it very easy for him to operate the bicycle and travel great distances without any hurdle. He used to go to distant places with his friends on the bicycle. It made him passionate about the sport.

So much that he went on a journey of 1700 km from Udaipur to Bangalore all alone. It all began is December 2017 when for the first time he was going to travel such a huge distance that too away from his family, his parents. The news of the cycle journey came as a shock to his family and relatives. Everyone resisted him to go on this expedition of his. But on 5th December 2017, just when he was about to leave, his friends and family gathered outside his house to bid him goodbye.

This passion of his’ raised several questions in people’s mind. They used to ask him ‘why do you do this? How do you do this? Don’t you get scared?’

But to all these questions he had just one answer that  ‘If I get scared this time, then I won’t be able to do anything, ever’.

After this expedition, there was no looking back for him. In August 2018, he went for another cycling trip from Manali to KhardungLa. KhardungLa is considered to be the world’s highest Motorable pass. The route of this trip is 550 km long but is at an altitude of 18000 ft. which makes it very difficult. ‘Some paths were very narrow and difficult for me’ he says but in the end his passion didn’t let him quit and the most challenging 11-day journey came to an end with lots of learnings and memories for him to cherish.

When Camera became his friend

Govind says that he had a peculiar interest in photography. He used to shoot some videos and photos from his mobile phone wherever he used to go. After some time he thought that it was the time to move on to the next level of photography which was the camera.

He narrates the story of his first camera experience. He says ‘the first time I held a camera, I thought that I won’t be able to operate it. I met several filmmakers in Shikshantar. They taught me multiple things about an angle, shot, and frame in a camera. It further generated my interest in filmmaking. In this way, I learned to edit, and filmmaking.

Govind is popular by the name ‘Bindaas’ as his personality. Every Sunday morning, a group of around 15-17 cyclists comes together along with ‘Bindas Govind’ to share the passion for cycling. This group is known as ‘Bindaas cyclists’.

Govind is a perfect example of passion and dedication. If you are determined to do something, nothing can ever stop you.

12 Resolutions that Authority in Udaipur Should Take this New Year

New Year doesn’t assure any novelty or changes around you but it definitely comes with new hope and lots of expectations. Now that we bid adios to the year 2018 and welcome the year 2019, there are a lot of changes and developments that we as a citizen of Udaipur would like to see in the city. Below is the list of those 12 resolutions that authority needs to take in Udaipur this New Year which will lead to a better future for the citizens in Udaipur.

Better Road conditions

Source: thehindu

This has been an all-time problem for the Udaipurites, no matter what the season is. Uneven roads, potholes, and dry dust covering your face while you drive leads to frequent accidents. Not just that, but it also results in long traffic jams creating an improper traffic structure in the city. Which leads us to our next point.

Organized traffic structure

Source: khas Khabar

It seems like there is a season of following the traffic rules. During some part of the year, wearing a helmet would be necessary or you would be fined and during some part, even the traffic lights won’t work properly. It creates an irregularity in the traffic structure of the city which ultimately makes a citizen think it is okay if he breaks the rule.

Lake conservation and cleaning

Source: UdaipurTimes

If you observe carefully, our city is unimaginably beautiful. Not just in pictures but also in reality. All it needs is proper attention, maintenance, and regular cleaning. Just cleaning the lakes would immensely add up to the above statement. Lakes such as Lake Pichola, Lake Fatehsagar, Lake Doodhtalai, etc. all have the same story. If our Lakes itself isn’t clean, then there’s no point of dreaming the city to be like Venice.

Taking care of the tourist attraction points

Source: allevents

Tourism is one of the major income generating sources for the city. Thus it is very important to maintain them and add to their beauty. The tourist attraction points don’t just end up on prominent places but also the heritage and cultural festivals which boost up the tourism rate in the city. Maintaining the beauty of the places and adding up more festivals and programs such as Lake Festival and Shilpgram festival would definitely attract more tourists in the upcoming year.

An ideal clean city – Udaipur

Source: Shivangi Reviews

To discuss this point, I would want to take an example of the city of Indore which is being considered as the cleanest city in the country. The municipal corporation in Indore has adopted some smart ways that have changed the way garbage was hitherto disposed in the city. These methods included door-to-door garbage collection and night cleaning which were very effective in reducing littering on the road.

Flyover construction

Source: Udaipur News

The news of a flyover being constructed in the city has been in air from quite a long time now. Still, it is very difficult to say when it will be constructed. The list of resolution for the year 2019 should definitely be added with the point.

Implementation of No vehicle zone

Source: udaipur Magic Tour

Currently, there is only one ‘No vehicle zone’ in the city which is at Fatehsagar paal. It really made a great leisure spot for all the citizens without any traffic hassle. More such ‘No vehicle zones’ should be added especially where there are narrow roads and more traffic such as ‘Old City’ area, etc.

Promoting Nightlife in the city

Source: VideoBlocks

Nightlife is a major void when it comes to the city of Udaipur. After 10:00 pm, the entire city gets closed down resulting in zero nightlife. To promote the same, strict security system should be implemented along with festivals and programs to promote nightlife in the city.

Preserving the Heritage of Udaipur

Source: Pinterest

While we are in Udaipur, one thing is for sure that we would be completely surrounded by Heritage sites. But it is aptly said that with great power comes great responsibility. And so it is necessary that proper attention and care is given to the heritage sites of the city which is quite lacking in the city. For example, Gangaur Ghat and even the Ambrai Ghat, both of which offers a breathtaking view of the city, is all messed up. People come here to wash their clothes or to bathe. Some measures should be taken against issues like such.

Smart City – Public Wifi Zone

Source: India Today

It shouldn’t be just in the name but also in the actions. Smart city Udaipur should be equipped with smart actions and facilities that can help the citizens. And one of such smart move can be creating wifi zones in the public areas.

Development in the outskirts of the city

Source: TripAdvisor

It looks like, amidst the attention given to the tourist spots and the city area, the outskirt area of the city is often being forgotten. No development can be seen in those areas as such and the maintenance as well is not taken care of. The major examples of these areas are Rampura Chouraha, Pratapnagar, etc.

Animal security and control

Source: Travels Of A Bookpacker

Cows sitting on the roads, stray dogs disturbing the chores of people, pigs, and horses finding a place to live, these issues in the city create an imbalance between animals and people. These animals should be assigned a proper place to live where they are not injured by the fast-moving vehicles on the road and rather be taken care of with food and a healthy living environment.

With the above 12 resolutions for the authority, we hope this New Year shall be happy for the city as well as you.

What changes do you wish to see in the city this year? Share in the comment section below and let your voice be heard.
