On a serene evening of 22 December IIM Udaipur witnessed it’s first ever-cultural event in collaboration with SPIC-MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth). The event observed magical performance from a Maestro Shri Bhutte Khan Manganiar and his troupe. The event started at 4:15 pm and was inaugurated by Director, IIMU – Professor Janat Shah, PGP Chairperson Mr Sasi Nair and Administrative Head Colonel (Retd.) Dinkar Hiteshi.

The event was inaugurated with “Deep Prajwalan” and a short welcome speech by Pritesh, Student. Later on the dais was handed over to the troupe who sat up a spell on the audience by their spell binding performances in Rajasthani Folk Music. The opening Cover to their Performance was a Traditional Rajasthani welcome song “Kesariya Balam” which was followed by Mira Bai Kirtan and then came the performance of night when one of the members of the troupe produced a Jugalbandi – a magical synchronization of various instruments. Later performances on songs of Amir Khusro and Nimbooda were Icing on cake. The evening ended on a “high note” with every one immersed in the Sufi chant of Dum-a-Dum Mast Kalandar.

The event was highly praised by Director stating – “May you guys organize a lot more events like this making IIM Udaipur a unique institution which believes in global growth and at the same time encourages local culture.”  Then the evening came with speech of thanks proposed by our Arnab, Student.
