Hariyali Amavasya: A Photostory of the Tradition and Celebration

Hey friends. First and foremost I would like to extend my warm greetings on the occasion of our tradition and cultural day: Hariyali Amavasya.

Hariyali Amavas

As you all might know this year it is being celebrated the 30th and 31st of July, where the 31st will be restricted for the women only. This year saw a great crowd and joy in the fair, as well as the drizzle added to the energy and worked as a stressbuster, and kept the name Hariyali worth its sake. The crowd was huge, the excitement unmatched, all stalls were ready and loaded either with eatables, toys, fancy items, women’s items, etc. People were here with the traditional pupadis or the instrument horning them all the way, and not to forget, the day’s special Malpuas.

For those who were present at the event, and want to feel the same fun again, and also, who unfortunately missed the fair, here I bring you a photostory with some of my best clicks, for the first day at the Hariyali Amavasya fair. Let the pictures speak for themselves.:)

Udaipur gathered to pay tribute to Lt. Archit Verdia

Candle March for Lt. Archit

β€œShaheed ki chitao par lagege har baras mele…. Watan par mitne walo ka baki yahi nishan hoga…..!!!!”

Eyes filled with tears, pain of loss easily visible on each face, air filled with patriotic songs. No one could stop their tears from rolling down when candles were lightened in the memory young and brave Lt. Archit Verdia. A huge crowd gathered at the β€˜Shaheed Smarak’ of Town Hall yesterday, the 26thof July, co-incidentally, which was also the Kargil day, to pray for his departed soul.

Lt. Archit Verdia
Lt. Archit Verdia

His mother, Mrs. Beena Verdia, and sister, Devyani Verdia, were also present there. Though their hearts were deeply engrossed in the grief of losing their 23 yrs old young son, but their heads were held high as they knew that Archit has not died, but has become immortal in the heart of every Indian. His late father will be brightly shining as a star seeing the bravery of son who has fulfilled his dreams of seeing his son as a soldier. We salute to this family for giving a great soldier to this country.

It has been known that Lt. Archit Verdia left this world on 20th of this month while trying to save his colleagues who were caught in fire at an army camp of Siachen Glacier. Born on January 20, 1988, Archit completed his +2 from The Study School, Udaipur. He got his training from Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai and was posted in the Indian Army about one and half years back.

Udaipur has never witnessed the pain of losing a soldier at the border. But today when we look at Archit, every hand comes up in reflex to give a salute to him. His funeral will be held today at Rani Road at 9 a.m. after his body will be brought to his hometown with due respect.

We all have been through a great loss. Udaipur has lost a brave child. We all pray for the peace of the departed soul, and also salute the spirit of the soldier.

Udaipur Disappointed by Starcast of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Katrina in Udaipur

The entire starcast of the upcoming bollywood movie, Zindagi Na milegi Dobara was here in Udaipur on 8 July, 2011 late night at about 10.00 p.m. They arrived from Ahmedabad in their black land rover, and stayed at hotel Shikarbadi for the night. But to add to the disappointment of all the udaipies, the starcast, consisting of Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar didn’t make any public appearance in our own Udaipur. The entire crew is currently travelling from Mumbai to Delhi all on road, and in this series, they headed for Jaipur this afternoon. There were a few unofficial predictions of them either visiting the celebration mall or the Fateh Sagar, but seems like the plans were changed, maybe due to the rain pouring in udaipur right from today morning.

Here are a few glimpses of our own stars in our own city by fans and official page of ZNMD πŸ™‚
