Dignity and justice for all of us

The Human Rights Day is observed on the 10th December every year. On this day in 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The Declaration is recognition of the fact that the inherent dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family are the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world and reaffirmation of faith of the peoples of United Nations in the fundamental human rights.

What are human rights?

Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible.

Universal human rights are often expressed and guaranteed by law, in the forms of treaties, customary international law, general principles and other sources of international law. International human rights law lays down obligations of Governments to act in certain ways or to refrain from certain acts, in order to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms of individuals or groups.

All human rights are indivisible, whether they are civil and political rights, such as the right to life, equality before the law and freedom of expression; economic, social and cultural rights, such as the rights to work, social security and education, or collective rights, such as the rights to development and self-determination, are indivisible, interrelated and interdependent. The improvement of one right facilitates advancement of the others. Likewise, the deprivation of one right adversely affects the others.

INGREDIENTS OF HUMAN RIGHTS

  • All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
  • Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it is independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.
  • Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.
  • No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.
  • All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.
  • Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state.
  • Everyone has the right to a nationality.
  • No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality.
  • Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others.
  • No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.
  • Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
  • Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
  • Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.
  • No one may be compelled to belong to an association.
  • Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favorable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.
  • Everyone, without any discrimination, has the right to equal pay for equal work.
  • Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.

Indian Govt. is no less concerned about human rights. Human Rights Act 1993 created “The National Human Rights Commission” with the following provisions:

(a) The commission is authorized to conduct enquiry on a petition presented to it by a victim or into complaint of violation of human rights or abetment thereof or negligence by some public servant in prevention of such violation.

(b) The National Human Rights Commission can also intervene in any proceeding involving any allegation of violation of Human Rights pending before some court with the permission of the court.

(c) The commission can visit any prison in the country to study the living conditions of its inmates and make recommendations thereabout.

(d) The commission can review the existing safeguards and laws protecting Human Rights and can make suggestions for effective implementation thereof.

(e) The National Human Rights Commissions encourages NGO’s and institutions and promotes research in the field of Human Rights.

Surely, there are some remedies available against violation of human rights. You can make complaint of violation of human rights to State Human Rights Commission, National Human Rights Commission etc.  However, the aggrieved parties whose human rights have been violated must be alert about their human rights.  Therefore, many times justice is denied to poor, weak persons and human rights remain only in statutory books. The downtrodden group of society is compelled to suffer endless trouble.

Guidelines on how to file complaint with the NHRC :

1. Complaint may be made to the Commission by the victim or any other person on his behalf.

2. Complaint should be in writing either in English or Hindi or in any other language included in the eighth schedule of the Constitution. Only one set of complaint needs to be submitted to the Commission.

Definitely – Venice of the East

Udaipur – the city of  lakes and the Venice of the East is definitely a feast to the eyes, especially after the monsoons . That is the time when it looks lush green and the glossy greenery adds up to the beauty . It is one of the most sought after destinations both for the domestic and the foreign tourists. This year we had a good share of rains and the lakes got filled to the brim . The onlookers were filled with pleasure .  After sunset, the rippling water with the moving reflections of the lights was a scene worth watching and one could go on gazing and inhaling the beauty for hours on end. The drive around Fatehsagar lake is awesome and Pichola lake is equally mesmirising.
A chunk of the Aravalli hills is in Udaipur and this is an add on to the charm of this small homely city. The sudden rise and fall of hills takes one by surprise at times. But ofcourse the surprise is a pleasant one.In no time one gets used to the place and one can move around without any hassles.
It has numerous gorgeous hotels which were originally palaces. The echo of the gallant and chivalrous tales of the Maharajas who once trod on this soil  greet our ears even today. The charisma of these palaces is breath-taking . The visitors are stunned and what they see with their own eyes becomes incredible. Its a city which one must have on one’s holiday list. If you have not made it to this place so far, then what are you waiting for ? Just book a ticket and be there and have the lovely experience.

Winter Can be Hard on the Body

Winter Can be Hard on the Body

Winter is a season when a few people fall sick, catch flu, cold or cough and hence it is important for them to take care of their health. Sudden climatic changes and prevalence of lower temperatures cause infections develop faster.  This year winter forUdaipurcame with drastic changes in the environmental scenario , it’s just the beginning   of  Winter season and we can feel a much higher as well as unexpected rainy season  . We can term this season as BAd WINTERS . Though this season seems much more appealing for tourists 🙂 . Some are liking this season and for some it is proving tremendously bad Health and Fitness can make all that difference in one’s life. Nutrients are necessary for the proper functioning of mental, physical, metabolic, chemical and hormonal activities. The body is like a machine that will repair and rebuild itself if proper nutrition is provided by way of food.

You might not be able to spend your valuable time on complicated medications and diet controls, but, you can find articles to help you have a better living in winter using simple and easy tips.

Exercising

Exercises invigorates the body and develops the immunity system and resistance power of the body to fight with the flu, cold and cough and other illnesses that frequent during the winter. A workout at a gym or any physical activity like walking, jogging, running, cycling performed for about 15-20 minutes provides immense warm to the body as a lot of heat is generated as the calories burn. Yoga so called as art of living really works beneficially in fighting with Cold and laziness.

Winter Garments

People should always wear protective garments like sweaters and jackets to shield themselves from the cold winds and falling temperatures. Most of your body heat is lost through your head so wear a hat, preferably one that covers your ears.

Drink

Our bodies generate a lot of energy as a protection against the cold weather and chilly nights. Hence one of the most important winter health tips is to stay hydrated. Drink at least 2 liter of water daily.

Food Items

We should include such items in our diet which contains fat or sweet, salty, citrus, nutritious and which provide strength to the body.

Wheat, millet, maize, gram, Kidney bean moong, moth, black gram, Lentil, etc. are especially beneficial. Besides, milk, clarified butter, Mawa, rabri, kheer, cream, sweets, etc., is foods that provide energy.

Other food items like groundnuts, dates, papaya, banana, apple and cheeku are also beneficial. It is good to eat dates boiled in milk two hours after the evening meals. The use of garlic is also beneficial. It is not necessary to take costly nutritious food items in winter. You should also take carrots, radish, tomatoes and cucumber in the form of salad. The juice of amla, carrots and tomatoes is also highly beneficial. Therefore, you can get good nutrition at a low cost.

Chilling cold

Following food habits recommend for good health :

  • Eating nuts and dry fruits (in limited quantities )like Almonds, Cashews, Pistachio, Walnut, Hazel nuts, Dates, Apricots  will provide necessary vitamins, natural oils and provide required nutrients to keep the body warm.
  • Use spices like Black pepper, Garlic, Onion, Cumin, Coriander, Ginger, Mustard seeds to help in the digestion and elimination of abdominal gases.
  • Vegetables like drum sticks, spinach, green banana, fenugreek leaves (Methi), Mint leaves provides the necessary fiber and nutrition and at the same time are easily digestible.
  • A glass of fresh warm milk with a pinch of turmeric and black pepper will boost the immunity.
  • Freshly prepared warm food will enhance circulation and increase enzyme activity.
  • Fruits rich in Vitamin C like Gooseberry (Amla), Orange, Lemon help flush out the toxins from the body.
  • Fasting once a week at regular intervals is recommended to detoxify the body.
  • Beauty sleep!

Money can’t buy the benefits of a good nights’ rest. Your oxygen levels will drop if you don’t get enough sleep, meaning that your cells will not be renewed as quickly. This is when degenerative skin aging sets in. Try to get seven, if not eight hours of rest a night to achieve absolutely gorgeous benefits!

COMMON COLD (SARDI) what is it?

Sardi or Common cold is an infectious disease of the upper respiratory system (nose and throat). Symptoms include sneezing, sniffling, runny nose, nasal congestion; scratchy, sore, or phlegm throat; coughing; headache; and tiredness.

Home Remedy for Common Cold :

  • Prepare nose drops – Take 1/4 liter of water and boil it. Add salt and ginger to it. Using a cloth, apply it to the nostrils as required
  • Mix onion juice and garlic juice and have it once a day. Onion provides a lot of heat which helps in reducing irritation in nose.
  • Take one glass of warm water and pour some limejuice and a tsp of honey in it and consume it once or twice on a daily basis.
  • Take a tbsp of carom seeds (ajwain), crush and tie them properly in a muslin cloth. Inhale in case of nose blockage. A similar small bundle placed near the pillow of sleeping children relieves congestion.

Home Remedy for Cough :

  • Regular gargling with warm salt water or warm decoction of Triphala with salt will prevent throat infections.
  • Take three black peppers and add a pinch of black cumin seeds and salt to it before consuming. On a hot pan, burn a clove by stirring, add pinch of salt for taste. Keep it in your mouth and suck it.
  • Grapes help a great deal in treating cold in a few days. Consume 1 cup grapes juice and also add 1-teaspoon honey to it.
  • Almonds are excellent for dry coughs. Soak about five almonds in water and keep them overnight. Next morning peel off the brown skin. Now grind them to form a powder and add twenty grams each of butter and sugar and form a paste. Consume it twice a day, once in the morning and the second time in the evening.
  • Take 8-10 Basil (Tulsi) leaves and wash well. To 1 cup of water, add these tulsi leaves, 1-2 cloves of garlic (lahsun), ½” piece ginger, crushed and 4-5 black peppers (saboot kali mirch). Boil the water and keep simmering on fire till the quantity is reduced to ¼ cup. Cool. Strain. Add 1 teaspoon honey. Drink this every morning.

  • Increase intakes of liquid in form of soup. Tomato soup, Mushroom soup, Spinach (palak) Soup, Corn soup and vegetable soups are healthy options during winter.
  • Drink herbal tea in winter as the nutrient. Herbal tea cures us from headache, stomachache and immunity problems.

So Keep yourself Healthy and Enjoy this Winter !!!!!!!!!!
