IIM-U students conduct Cycle run to spread the Green message in Udaipur

cyclothon iim udaipur

In the wee hours of the morning, a group of 23 IIM Udaipur students went ahead to ride their bicyles around the slyvan surroundings of the lake city. The event Cyclothon had the motto to increase awareness among the denizens of Udaipur about the increasing levels of pollution as well as the benefits of cycling. The students started off from the campus and went upto the Fateh Sagar lake. The 20 km route then went around the scenic Rani road and through Fatehpura to finally end at the campus. The enthusiasm of the students was exceptional as some of them completed it without taking a halt, that too within 50 mins.

IIM Udaipur has since its inception believed in caring for nature. Keeping this in mind the institute has ensured that the campus is entirely pollution free. Students are encouraged to use bicycles and keeping motorized vehicles is prohibited. In fact even the director of the institute Prof. Janat Shah leads by example, and prefers to cycle his way to the office almost everyday. The new 250-acre campus of the premier management institute that is coming up in Balicha region in the midst of the hills of Udaipur is going to be water neutral and eco-friendly.

Gudakesh, a final year student of PGPM of the institute, said, “Udaipur is a beautiful city and it is our duty to ensure that it remains so. But sadly nothing much is being done about it. The pollution level is increasing by the day. Although there are a lot of measures that can be taken up, we should try and take the initiative ourself. Cycling not only ensures that you remain fit and healthy but it also ensures that we don’t burn fuel when it is not necessary. At least for the daily errands, one can easily cover a distance of 4-5 kms each day as our Director, Prof. Shah does. We just need to give it a try. The environment needs care and if we don’t do something about it, then who else will.”

Pranab Mukherjee – The President of India

Pranab Mukherjee - indianexpress.com

The most awaited results of 13th President Election Poll were declared this evening and as it was almost expected even before the counting started, Pranab Mukherjee defeated his opponent PA Sangma by 3095 votes valued at 7,13,763. The former Finance Minister will be taking the oath for bearing Presidential Office on July 25. We all congratulate Pranab Mukherjee for this triumphant victory.

Pranab Mukherjee was born on December 11, 1935 in a Bengali Brahmin family at Mirati in West Bengal. He took his Masters Degree in History and Political Science and also a degree in Law from University of Calcutta. He started his political career in the age of 34 by joining Indian National Congress and soon got a seat of Rajya Sabha from Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister and Supreme Leader of Congress. After that he hold many posts in office including Deputy Chairperson of Planning Commission, Minister of Defense, Minister of External Affairs and Minister of Finance. He also formed a separate party, named Rashtriya Samajwadi Party, at the time of Rajiv Gandhi which he again merged with Congress 3 years later. Recently, he resigned from the post of Finance Minister in Manmohan Singh’s Government on June 26 to file his nomination for Presidential Poll.

The high counts of votes dropped in Ballot box for Pranab Da bring with them even higher expectations. The country is looking forward to the newly elected 13th President of India for some major steps towards betterment of the country and its people. The topmost reforms and amendments expected from Pranab Mukherjee during his 5 years of office bearing will be –

1.) The biggest of all devils that is eating out our country from inside is corruption. Pranab Da need to keep an owl’s eye over the proceedings of Jan Lokpal Bill in the Parliament and make it come into force as soon as possible, at the same time making sure that it is not molded by the greedy, corrupted political leaders as per their profits.

2.) The whole country and especially the bleeding Mumbai, wounded in 26/11 blasts, urges to hear a decision from the President on death sentence of Ajmal Kasab, the only attacker of those blasts caught alive, who is right now enjoying the services of Indian Jail.

3.) Along with Ajmal Kasab, many appeals on death sentences are lying on the President’s desk that needs a decision as early as possible; if not on regard to duties but at least for the sake of humanity.

4.) We want to see Pranab Mukherjee coming out with a clear and best of all visions, away from political dirt and dust, to make India shine in every horizon, be it economy, education, technology, agriculture, politics, defense, foreign affairs, and the list goes on. At the same time, we need to slow down when it comes to price inflation, crimes and corruption.

5.) We don’t want to hear long speeches and lists of promises from this President; let his actions speak on his behalf and we promise that our claps and prayers will roar for the Bengal Tiger.

6.) Lastly, in the list of Youth Icons, a place is empty from the field of Politics. Can Pranab Mukherjee win this seat with the same glory and grandeur as he won in the recent Presidential Elections??

In short, everyone is hoping for a new legend to rise in the history of Indian Politics. What are your comments Udaipies..??

Resident Doctors or Resident Devils?

Resident Doctors and Police - Credits: UdaipurNews.in
Resident Doctors and Police – Credits: UdaipurNews.in

A Doctor is regarded and worshiped as GOD by a common man, they are trusted by the people who hand over the lives of their near and dear ones on them and a doctor always tries his/her best to save the life of the patient in the operation theatre.

But, does this fact ALWAYS holds correct….???

Well this  fact has been proved as a myth by the resident doctors of M.B. Hospital when they behaved brutally with  a help seeking son who came to them so that his mother could be saved. According to the sources, a 45-year old woman, Indira Kanwar who resides in Banswara was admitted in M.B. Hospital from past few days. There was no complain by her for the first few days but on 8th July 9.30 p.m. she suddenly started feeling uneasy and reverted about this to her son Jitendra Singh Chauhan who is a guest faculty at CTAE. But when the son ran to seek help from the resident doctor on duty that time, to his sudden shock he was ignored for the first time,  he didn’t lose hope and tried the second time but this time also his efforts were in vain. When helpless, Jitendra tried raising his voice against this injustice, the doctors instead of attending the lady started quarreling with him and other doctors also came over and collectively started beating Jitendra. The son who came there to make his mother well again was brutally beaten and in the fight fractured his arm, fingers and also bruised his ear. The doctors also misbehaved with the guard who came to rescue and stop the fight. This also was not enough that the doctors started beating other relatives too including the ladies. In addition, On the top of it the media also became their target that night.

President of Lakecity Press Club, Mr. Akhtar Hussain and others lodged an FIR against the doctors at Hathipole Police Station.

However, the Police and media controlled the situation but it raises several question marks on our medical council which needs to be answered…..

The biggest question is does their conscience  allow them to perform such activities..??

Happenings like these create a huge setback in the minds of the patients and their relatives which creates a negative image for every doctor. We as the members of UdaipurBlog.com Team urge and request all the doctors to maintain their dignity and be calm and composed as they are kept in the place of God and they should respect that.
