बागोर की हवेली – उदयपुर का एक खूबसूरत पर्यटक आकर्षण

पिछोला झील के किनारे, गणगौर घाट पर बनी बागोर की हवेली वर्षों से उदयपुर के पर्यटकों को लुभाती आयी है। यह ऐतिहासिक हवेली राजा महाराजाओं के जीवन की एक जीती जगती दास्ताँ है। इसका निर्माण 1751 से 1778 के अंतराल में मेवाड़ के प्रधान मंत्री रहे अमरचंद बड़वा ने करवाया था। उनकी मृत्यु के बाद यह हवेली मेवाड़ राज्य के शाही परिवार के अधिकार में आ गयी।

आज़ादी के बाद राज्य सरकार ने इस हवेली को सरकारी कर्मचारियों के निवास के उपयोग में लिया। पर इस दौरान हवेली के सही रखरखाव के आभाव में इसकी हालत ज़र-ज़र होती गई। बाद में राजस्थान सरकार ने 1986 में इस ऐतिहासिक ईमारत को पश्चिम क्षेत्र सांस्कृतिक केंद्र का मुख्यालय बनाने के लिए सौंप दिया।

100 कमरों की इस हवेली को उसके पूर्व स्वरुप में लाने की अपार मेहनत की गयी। इसके 138 कक्ष, बरामदे, गलियारे सभी ऐतिहासिक प्रमाणिकता के अनुसार फिर से निर्मित किये गए। पश्चिम क्षेत्र सांस्कृतिक केंद्र ने इस हवेली को एक खूबसूरत संग्रहालय का रूप दिया जहाँ मेवाड़ की संस्कृति की एक अनूठी झलक दिखाई देती है।

बागोर की हवेली के ऐतिहासिक महत्व को ध्यान में रखते हुए यहाँ भारत विभिन्न राज्य जैसे राजस्थान, गुजरात, महाराष्ट्र, गोवा की संस्कृति को दर्शाने की पहल की गई।

आज यहाँ शस्त्रगार, कठपुतली और शाही शादी जैसे अनोखे संग्रहालय पर्यटकों को आकर्षित करते हैं। इसके अलावा हवेली में दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी पगड़ी और कावड़ भी सजी हुई है जिसे लोग खास तौर से देखने आते हैं। हवेली में मेवाड़ की शाही घरानों की शानो को दर्शाने के लिए अलग-अलग कक्षों में झाकियां प्रदर्शित की गई है। इनमे अमोद-प्रमोद कक्ष, गणगौर कक्ष, श्रृंगार कक्ष, शयन कक्ष, रंगनिवास, पूजा कक्ष, संगीत कक्ष आदि खास आकर्षण का केंद्र हैं।

दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी पगड़ी

बागोर की हवेली में भारत के कई राज्यों की पारम्परिक पाग-पगड़िया रखी हैं जिसमे से एक है दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी 30 किलो वज़न की पगड़ी। यहाँ अनूठी पड़गी 151 फ़ीट लम्बी, 7 इंच मोटी, 11 चौड़ी, और ढाई फ़ीट ऊंची है। दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी माने जाने वाली इस पगड़ी को बड़ोदा के कारीगर अवंतीलाल चावला ने 25 दिनों में बनाया था।

बागोर की हवेली संस्कृति, सभ्यता और इतिहास की वह झलक है जो अपने-आप में मेवाड़ के राज घरानों की एक पूरी गाथा सुनाती है। यहाँ के शाही दरवाज़े, चौक, गलियारे, दरीखाना, कमरे, हर कोने से मेवाड़ी शानो-शौकत की झलक दिखाई देती है।

Budget 2020 Highlights: At a glance

Union Budget 2020

The Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman presented her second Union Budget of the year 2020-21 in Parliament on 1st February 2020.

Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the second time after Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) returned to power.

The Union Budget of 2020-21 is primarily focusing on empowering the educational sector in the Financial Year 2020-21 and new education policy will be revealed soon for the same.

Sitharaman also proposed a new income tax slabs. Here are some highlights from the Union Budget 2020-21.

Taxable income slabs and corresponding tax rates:

  • Up to Rs. 5 lakh – Nil
  • Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh – 10%
  • Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh – 15%
  • Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12.5 lakh – 20%
  • Rs 12.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh – 25%
  • Rs 15 lakh and above – 30%

Union Budget 2020 Highlights:

  • To simplify the tax system and lower tax rates, around 70 of more than 100 income tax deductions and exemptions have been removed.
  • Dividend Distribution Tax (DDT) is removed. Companies will not be required to pay DDT. Dividend to be taxed only at the hands of recipients, at applicable rates.
  • Cash reward system envisaged incentivising customers to seek invoice.
  • Tax on cooperative societies reduced to 22% without exemptions.
  • To end tax harassment, new taxpayer charter to be instituted.
  • Proposes to amend the Companies Act to bring criminal liability in certain areas.
  • Aadhaar-based verification of taxpayers is being introduced to weed out a dummy or non-existent units; instant online allotment of PAN on the basis of Aadhaar.
  • Registration of charity institutions to be made completely electronic, donations made to be pre-filled in IT return the form to claim exemptions for donations easily.
  • Tax holiday for affordable housing extended by 1 year.
  • Govt plans to sell part of its holding in Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) by way of Initial Public Offering.
  • Customs duty raised on footwear to 35% from 25% and on furniture goods to 25% from 20%.
  • Excise duty proposed to be raised on Cigarettes and other tobacco products, no change made in the duty rates of bidis.
  • Basic customs duty on imports of newsprint and light-weight coated paper reduced from 10% to 5%.
  • Customs duty rates revised on electric vehicles and parts of mobiles.
    5% health cess to be imposed on the imports of medical devices, except those exempt from BCD.
  • Lower customs duty on certain inputs and raw materials like a fuse, chemicals, and plastics.
  • Higher customs duty on certain goods like auto-parts, chemicals, etc. which are also being made domestically.
  • New Simplified return for GST from April 2020.
  • Start-ups with turnover up to Rs. 100 crore to enjoy a 100% deduction for 3 consecutive assessment years out of 10 years.
  • App-based invoice financing loans product to be launched, to obviate the problem of delayed payments and cash flow mismatches for MSMEs.
  • Depositor insurance to Rs 5 lakh from the current Rs 1 lakh to help bank depositors.
  • Banking Regulation Act to be amended to strengthen Cooperative banks.
  • New common entrance test for non-gazetted government jobs and public sector banks.
  • Special bridge courses to be designed by the Ministries of Health, and Skill Development to fulfil the demand for teachers, nurses, para-medical staff and caregivers abroad.
  • 5 new Smart Cities to be set up via the PPP model.
  • 100 more airports to be set up by 2024 to support UDAN scheme.
  • Accelerated development of highways will be undertaken; Delhi-Mumbai expressway and two other projects to be completed by 2023. Chennai-Bengaluru Expressway to be started.

8 year old Saivi Singh’s name registered in International Olympiad Hall of Fame

Eight-year-old Udaipur girl, Saivi Singh’s name has entered in the ‘Hall of Fame’ in International Science Olympiad. Saivi is the first student from Udaipur to get this achievement.

International Science Olympiad is a test of competency and proficiency in Science which is held annually at both National and International levels. Hall of Fame is awarded to those who set a record by competing with students from around the world.

Saivi had earlier set a record of 1443 stories telling by seeing the pictures. Besides, she is also the first one from Rajasthan to be selected as a ‘Team Squad’ for Amar Chitra Katha’s Tinkle Comic Studio.

Rajasthan State Transports Corporation will have 50 new buses running in the state

Rajasthan Roadways Buses

To boost the public transport facility in the state, Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) is launching 50 new buses to its fleet. Udaipur will get 5 new buses out of these 50.

The new buses are expected to hit the road in February.

The State Transport has waited for more than two and a half year to get revived with a set of the new fleet. State Roadways had released a tender of 876 new buses out of which 50 buses were to hit the road by January last week.

However, due to some technical issues, the delivery got delayed and now the buses will be available in February first week. The next set of buses are expected to come by the end of February or March first week.

We often hear about wetlands but what are they actually?

Wetlands are land areas saturated or flooded with water, permanently or seasonally. They vary from natural wetlands like lakes, rivers, floodplains, mangroves, saltwater marshes to human-made like fish ponds, rice paddies or saltpans.

But the questions that arrive when we know about them is why are they so important to preserve?

Wetlands are important for us and the birds due to several reasons. During rains, they check the water from flowing away, so the water seeps down and the level of the underground does not go down. This, in turn, recharges wells and tube wells.

40% of the world’s plant and animal species live or breed in wetlands. Over 100,000 freshwater species have been identified in wetlands so far.

Wetlands are rich reservoirs of biodiversity. Loss of wetlands between 1970 and 2014 has declined the populations of fish, birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles by 60%. Also 25% of wetland species including water birds, freshwater-dependent mammals, marine turtles, and coral-reef- building species are threatened with extinction.

Our city Udaipur is blessed with a number of lakes which makes us one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the world. Among all, nine water bodies in Udaipur are yet to be declared as a wetland.

Wetland Udaipur

Udaipur wetlands are home to some 500 avian species including 150 varieties of migratory birds coming here in winters. The welfare of Udaipur depends on wetlands that provide water for irrigation and drinking. Lake strengthens the economy of the city with the help of tourism. 

Gayatri Seva Sansthan(GSS) is working since last 3 years towards this initiative to spread awareness among people through various events and have gained expertise over the subject. One such event will be organised on the 2nd of February 2020 at Mandali Village.

The event will invite tourist and localities from the city for bird watching and knowledge sharing sessions. Thousands of migratory birds travel from the faraway lands of Siberia in search of food and protection from the bitter cold, also birds from higher Himalayas and parts of Central Asia also flock in every year to enjoy the mild winters. The reason why they come here is that conditions at Mandali suits for their survival.

CEO of GSS Mr Chetan Pandey has always remained concerned about these wetlands and GSS has a big role to play for preserve Mandali watershed. Currently, GSS is directly implementing watershed programmes for 5590 acres of land in 18 villages.

For ensuring quality in planning and implementation of watershed projects, GSS is using Geospatial Technology through the application of modern tools of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System (GIS). MBA students from NMIMS Mumbai have come to learn about the importance of wetlands and are actively working with GSS for the success of the event. Apart from this various academic institutions and NGOs from Udaipur will also honour this event with their presence.

Jaipur-Udaipur-Ahmedabad rail route identified as high-speed corridor

High Speed Rail Route Udaipur

The Railways has identified six sections for high speed and semi-high speed rail corridors which also includes Jaipur-Udaipur-Ahmedabad sections.

High-speed corridors are those sections where trains can run at a speed of 300 km/hr. According to the Railway Board Chairman, V K Yadav, a detailed project report (DPR) will be ready on this project within a year’s time.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed route will be joined with the new high-speed corridor.

The six sections for high-speed corridor include:

  • Delhi-Jaipur-Udaipur-Ahmedabad – 886 km
  • Delhi-Noida-Agra-Lucknow-Varanasi – 865
  • Mumbai-Nasik-Nagpur – 753 km
  • Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad – 711 km
  • Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore – 435 km
  • Delhi-Chandigarh-Ludhiana-Jalandhar-Amritsar – 459 km

The detailed project report will study the feasibility of the project by checking the land availability, traffic potential and alignment. On the basis of these factors, the Railway Board will decide if the route is fit for the high-speed or semi-high-speed corridor.

भवन निर्माण की अनुमति अब ले सकतें हैं ऑनलाइन

नगर निगम भवन निर्माण अनुमति समिति की हाल ही में हुई बैठक में तय हुआ कि अब भवन निर्माण की अनुमति ऑनलाइन ही मिल जाएगी और यह अनुमति एक माह में दे दी जाएगी। नगर निगम जाना अब नहीं है अनिवार्य।

अबतक ऑनलाइन आवेदन के बाद भी निगम जाकर अनुमति लेनी हाेती थी। पर अब यह प्रक्रिया सरल कर दी जाएगी।

बैठक में यह भी तय हुआ कि जाे भी बिना अनुमति भवन निर्माण कराएगा उसके खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाएगी। अब 21 दिन में बिना माैका निरीक्षण भी भवन निर्माण काे लेकर म्यूटेशन जारी किया जा सकेगा। पहले इस अवधि में माैका निरीक्षण जरूरी हाेता था।

वहीं लाेगाें की सुविधा काे देखते हुए यह निर्णय लिया गया कि अब हर माह में दाे बार बैठक हाेगी ताकि हर 15 दिन में फाइलाें का निस्तारण किया जा सके। भवन निर्माण की अनुमति हर हाल में एक माह में दे दी जाएगी।

समिति अध्यक्ष कोठारी ने बताया कि महापौर गोविंद सिंह टांक के निर्देश पर हुई बैठक में तय किया गया कि भवन निर्माण अनुमति देने की प्रक्रिया सरल हो।

Coronavirus, a new deadly virus has killed more than one hundred people in China and has infected thousands across the world. Countries like Hong Kong, Australia, Thailand, France, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Nepal, South Korea have reported confirmed cases of this deadly virus.

However, as of now, no confirmed cases have been detected in India. Although, few suspected cases have been put under isolation in Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

This ongoing outbreak of the fatal coronavirus originated in China’s Wuhan city. The deadly virus has claimed more than a hundred lives so far.

What is Coronavirus?

The Wuhan Coronavirus which is also called as 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a family of viruses in human that can cause a range of illnesses including cough, cold, fever, breathlessness etc.

The name of the virus, corona, comes from its shape which looks like the outer layer of the sun’s atmosphere during a total solar eclipse.

What are the symptoms of coronavirus infection?

The common symptom of coronavirus infection includes fever, cough and breathlessness. Although the symptoms depend upon the type of infectant, some of the common signs include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Breathing trouble
  • Shortness of breath
  • Pneumonia
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea

The first case of coronavirus was detected after mysterious pneumonia cases were reported in China.

What precaution should be taken?

The basic precaution recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) includes good hygiene and staying away from infectious people.

  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Cover your mouth while coughing and sneezing
  • Avoid close contact with people showing cough and cold symptoms
  • Do not eat a raw or undercooked animal product

Besides, WHO also recommends avoiding travelling to China if not essential.

Indians who are feeling unwell while in China or who have recently returned from China must promptly seek medical help.

The Indian government is preparing to evacuate citizens from China after the outburst of this deadly virus. The central government has also set 24×7 helpline number to attend queries about novel coronavirus.

Udaipur’s preparedness on Coronavirus

Udaipur’s Medical Education Department and Medical and Health Department are on alert following the suspected cases admitted in Jaipur and Madhya Pradesh.

City’s RNT Medical College has designated an isolation ward in the skin department of the hospital for any suspected patients.

Treatment for coronavirus

As of now, there is no prescribed treatment or vaccine available for coronavirus treatment. The virus has its own course and subsides on its own.

Patients who are infected with coronavirus need to be kept in isolation and must take proper rest along with the prescribed medication in order to recover effectively.

Rest, medicine and the right food are important for recovery from coronavirus.

Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur earns 3rd Guinness World Record

Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur, on his birthday on 28th January, commenced a unique ‘Go Green’ initiative called ‘Vriksh Hi Jeevan Abhiyaan’ which has earned him the third Guinness World Record in just under 10 months.

Lakshyaraj is the youngest member of the former Royal Family of Mewar and a Trustee of the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur.

During the ‘Go Green’ campaign, thousands of school students, Indian Army personnel and citizens from all walks of life participated and planted 4035 saplings varies from Amaltaj; Srahdana; Gulmohar; Kesiya Shayma in less than 60 seconds.

World Record in Udaipur

The previous world record for most saplings planted in 60 seconds stood at 2000 but today’s unique initiative in Udaipur by Lakshyaraj has broken the previous record.

‘Go Green’ highlighted Lakshyaraj Singh’s idea for a cleaner and greener tomorrow with more saplings being planted by the citizens themselves.

Speaking on the occasion he said, “The focus has always been to give back to society. And caring for Mother Earth should be a priority for each one of us so that we are able to provide a better tomorrow for the generations to come given the current challenges of global warming, ecological imbalance and various natural calamities which have resulted due to man-made misadventures.”

This is his third Guinness World Record; the first being ‘Vastradaan’ which witnessed the collection of 3,29,250 clothes for donation to the needy. It was followed by the second Guinness World Record to Inspire Education wherein 20 tonnes of stationery items for students were collected within 24 hours.

Lakshyaraj Singh has created awareness on several social issues related to the rural and urban populace in the region. He has conducted campaigns for numerous social causes to create awareness in the field of education, health, environment etc., in order to improve the standard of living and quality of life of the local people. Government bank employee may go on 2-day strike from Jan 31

2-Day Bank Strike

Government bank employees from State Bank of India and other Public Sector Banks may go on strike from 31st January 2020. SBI has informed its customers that operations may be impacted due to proposed 2-day nationwide strike.

The PSU banks have threatened to go on a nationwide strike to protest for early wage revision. This strike has been given by the umbrella body of the nine bank unions, the United Forum of Bank Unions. This body includes unions like All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and National Organisation of Bank Workers.

The unions had a meeting with the Chief Labour Commissioner on Monday which went inconclusive following which the unions decided not to take back the strike notice.

The revision of wages for employee of public sector banks employee is pending since November 2017. The AIBEA general secretary C H Venkatachalam has appealed to the banking customers to bear with the disruption in the services due to the strike.
