International Women’s Day – #SHE, Celebrating Womanhood

A daughter, a wife, a mother, a companion, a working individual but more importantly, before all of her life roles she is a ‘WOMAN’.

The world is rising to a peak, and so as the power of women. We all know that in this male ascendant zone, women have made their way in every field by breaking conservative thoughts of people continuously. No wonder being a man is a wholesome responsibility but being a woman is like holding an entire world in your head with the care and love for her partner, family, children, parents, work, and for herself that too while following the stereotypes that are defined by the society. There is no dual thought that women are still more bounded somewhere. But, instead of being plucked into the rules of an ideal personal, #SHE factor has always proved that they are valuable in every sense.

So, on this graceful occasion of International Women’s day by saluting the spirit of women, we have lined up these 8 females from Udaipur who have been the achievers and have struggled through different phases of life by being their own superheroes.

Alka Sharma (Founder – CPS School and Rockwoods High School)

With a dream to impart education, Alka Sharma, founder and director of ‘CPS and Rockwoods High school‘, always nurtured an inclination to produce brilliant minds in every field. She managed to bring up a three-room place with merely 85 students into a full-fledged infrastructure that is reputed not only in Udaipur but also in Rajasthan. Former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam also awarded her for her long struggle and achievements in leading the path of education.

Pioneer of many educational fields, Mrs Alka Sharma delighted us with her words to inspire other women by exclaiming that, “If you are facing struggles then focus only on the solutions and without shaking overcome the hurdles soon your life story will become an inspiration, and you will be the role model for many lives so remember overcoming challenges gracefully is turns into joy and success soon.”

Sanjeeta kk Choudhary (Food Blogger – Lite Bite)

sanjeeta kk choudhary lite bite

Darling mum of two children, born and brought up in Udaipur, Sanjeeta kk has achieved her success through her creative online outlet ‘Lite Bite’ that showcases her instincts towards photography, blogging, and different types of cuisines. Being a professional food stylist, she got her way towards the achievements by letting herself out of her comfort zone and chasing her dreams.

When we asked about her thoughts to inspire other women, she exclaimed it very beautifully, “I believe that life is a constant work-in-progress and every moment ‘big or small’ defines who you are today. Believe in yourself and follow your heart. Even if you don’t have any formal education, there are numerous opportunities out there. You just need to open your eyes, look out for your personal calling and explore them. But never stop learning…”

Durriya Kapasi (Author)

The 29-year-old beautiful lady and writer of the book ‘Once upon a Genie’ Durriya Kapasi is not limited to her piece of writings but, she is also a teacher, homemaker, traveller, and a motivational speaker. Fighting with the battle of life-threatening disease cancer, she never lost hope of chasing her dreams and came out like a Nightingale to earn the victory of being a successful author.

And, she stated her motivational words for every woman in her artistic form, “The best defence any woman can have is her self-confidence. Nobody can know what you can do, but you. You must know your power and strength. We can do anything a man can do, but man cannot do everything we do. Love yourself, and dream big.”

Manjeet Kaur Bansal (Owner – Dynamic Group)

The fearless lady at heart with so much of grace, Manjeet Kaur Bansal has a personality that matches to her idea of providing security to the reputed public figures and brands from the decades now through her association ‘Dynamic Group’. Out of all her struggles, chaos, and daily life battles, she came up like a saga by succeeding her passion and constant walk towards her goals. From being an entrepreneur to model, actress, film producer and finalist at the platform of Gladrags Mrs India, her list of achievements could not be explained in few words.

And, while having a conversation, she shared her inspiring thoughts that, “We don’t need to compare or compete ourselves with men. We have that unshakeable faith, unmatched strength, which opens the door to success on its own. We just need to be WE, just need to be our natural compassionate, sensible, understanding, hard working self, all else will follow. The problems and the accolades are part and parcel of one’s life. It’s how we take it? That changes the results. When you are ready to accept the sunshine, be willing to take the dark night too, for IT SHALL PASS.”

Alka Sharma (Owner – Aavaran Boutique)

Following the urge of rich textile tradition by working with artisans from indigenous crafts community along with the women of Akola village and several other regions, Alka Sharma, owner of ‘Aavaran‘, a block-printing unit has been an ideal entrepreneur to promote traditional crafts. She has been an angel to economically weak artisans and making them self-reliable through their artwork. And, with her splendid efforts, she has made a difference to the life of 250 people, which is itself an achievement.

She is herself a motivation, but her words for other women were sweet and simple that, “Believe in yourself, stay strong and help other women to rise.”

Divyani Verdia (RAS)

divyani verdia ras

A 25-year-old RAS, she is truly a girl who has determined herself to move forward in life with the blessings and teachings of her father Lt. Dinesh Verdia, and brother Lt. Archit Verdia (Indian Army). A proud daughter, sister, and moreover a woman, she achieved the milestone of clearing the exam of ‘Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS)’ at the first attempt. Apart from her dedication and hard work, she states her mother, Mrs Beena Verdia, as the epitome of courage and core reason for success behind her.

And, with her inspirational views, she told that “ Life comes with pleasant and unpleasant surprises. The only way to deal is to have an emotional balance, and all other positive attributes will follow unconditionally. Respect yourself; believe in yourself, for you are one of its kinds. Have a strong conscience, always strive to uphold your parent’s teachings and try once in your lifetime to bring a good name to them that they can be proud of you.”

Anjali Azad Dubey (Architect and Interior Designer)

Anjali Azad Dubey architecture and interior designer

Space planner by profession and strongly associated with Indian art and materials, which can be seen in her style of architecture and designing, Anjali Azad Dubey, owner of Pratham Interiors has been tremendous in her field and is recognised by the respected newspaper ‘The Hindu’ for her work. The Government of Rajasthan also awarded her first prize winner in aspect to” Smart City Concept for Udaipur.”

With the sorted attitude and flawless thoughts, she expressed her words for every woman that, “Nature is growth and birth and so is the most beautiful over any other thing, same is a lady 🙂 A woman can give birth, can grow the generations, and she is the most wonderful! A true lady should never compare herself with males but should relish what she is gifted with!”

Krishna Chouhan (Former District Education Officer) krishna chouhan district education officer

Always being a topper throughout her childhood, Krishna Chouhan served her entire life to the education by being at the position of District Education Officer and Deputy Director, Education Department (Govt. of Rajasthan). Her achievements have been recognised at national as well international level out of which one of her initiative has been Project Utkarsh for which she was awarded by our Hon’ble CM of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje.

And, by remembering her entire journey that included a balance between her professional, personal, and social life, she elaborated her words for all the females, “Always consider yourself powerful and realise your potential. A woman can be soft, which is often misunderstood as weak. There is no work, which if a woman wants, cannot do. What is required is the confidence, patience and clarity of vision to achieve that goal.”

So, on this superb feminine touch, we would like to sum up the pride of women merely in few words:

Tu jise chahe, apni mehfil mai bula sakti hai
Zameen to kya, aasman ko bhi jhuka sakti hai ||
Komal hai, kamzor nahin, tu shakti ka naam hai naari
Jag ko jeevan dene wali, maut bhi tujhse haari hai ||

Happy International Women’s Day!! Cheers to women power 🙂

Places to Visit

Pratap Park – A New Addition in the Landscapes of Udaipur

Feeling Nostalgic in the Venice of the East is not new for the tourists as well native people. As our Lake City is blessed with such a charismatic beauty that is irresistible whether it comes to Lakes, Gardens, Markets or Streets, Udaipur has it all. Places like Saheliyon ki Badi, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park, Rajeev Gandhi Park and so on have been Udaipur’s garden destination since longer now. And, to support that dearth of Gardens, a breath of fresh air has arrived in the form of Pratap Park.

From: Navin Contact No.: 9829041435 Address: Flat No. 302, The Garnet Appartment, New Fatehpura, Nr. Sukhadia Circle, Udaipur Root User <root@localhost> Feb 26 (2 days ago) to me From: Himanshu mirani Contact No.: 8233997932 Address: 66 jawahar nagar near railway station

This garden has come up at the Pichola Ring Road, at the fresh location on the southern banks of Pichola. Hence, we can sum it up as an entirely new place for everyone in the city either local visitors or tourists. The development of a Pratap Park in this area is a positive step for the other side of Pichola that is not very frequented.

While being here, visitors can tend to witness a view of Udaipur, which is not often seen from the denser side of Pichola Lake. The garden is equipped with world-class standards including Eco-friendly Park with solar lights, Neem Fertilisers, Recycled cement slurry tiles, and Local Stones fence.

Udaipurites!! Who are unfamiliar with the area, two roads lead to it, one is via Mulla Talai, which is a precarious route, replete with narrow lanes, while the other one is quite adventurous and easy way from Dudh Talai, through the Jungle Safari.

But, the uniqueness of this location is connected to the memory of Late Shri Pratap Bhandari, who has been instrumental in developing tourism in and around areas of Lake City.

The Park is situated on the shores of historical Lake Pichola has been prepared and would be conserved by the Pratap Basantilal Bhandari Charitable Trust. Built within the area of 60,000 Square feet, this garden comprises of an open gymnasium,  a 250-meter acupressure walking track, gardens with mogra flowering and ample parking space.

Taking a cue to create patriotism for the Lake City, the “I LOVE UDAIPUR” signs ironically with the appealing backdrop of Lake Pichola and the City Palace.

i love udaipur | pratap park | i love udaipur
udaipurpost.com

And, be seeing this architecture and effort of public – private partnership, it would enhance the tourism by becoming a picture perfect spot and make open spaces for the locals to lead a healthier living.

So, coming summer months are going to be fruitful as this would quickly turn out to be the finest location choice for tourists, trekkers, as well as locals. Not only they will be pleased to witness the much lovelier view from the banks of Pichola, with the twin seven-star hotels, the Lake Palace, City Palace, Jag Mandir and Machla Magra all, but will enjoy the compassion in one beautiful panorama.

“Bura Jo Dekhan Mein Chala, Bura Na Miliya Koye. Jo Mann Khoja Aapna, Mujhse Bura Na Koye.” Hearing and translating the couplets of Saint Kabir reminds everyone of school days. And, Kabir Café made this thing truly understood in the beautiful form of their singing. The band not only preached the Doha’s in the way of narration but they just made the crowd flow with them while cheering at music.

At the backstage, they got us to know that in spite of so many technical hitches, they were impressed with the audience of Udaipur for being so patience and enjoying their performance. And, that’s not all they just loved the vibes and people’s enthusiasm towards Udaipur World Music Festival 2017.

Next to the Door: Parvaaz

Their music incorporated with the elements of the Traditional South African form along with folk, indie-pop-rock, and blues pulled up all the locks of heart out with a superb gathering of the crowd.

Final Take: Swarathma

Final Take: Swarathma

And, finally, it was the major counter-stroke by the music of Bangalore-based band Swarathma. The members of folk fusion band Vasu Dixit (Lead Vocalist) and Varun (Lead Guitarist) along with other musicians told us about their genre which they experiment on regularly to throw a mix with the healthy amount of surprise. Aspiring Music, Inspiring Minds – Aikarth Purohit (Baselard Studios)

For some music is just the source of entertainment whereas for few it is the source of Life. On a happier note, conversation with aspiring artist Aikarth Purohit went pretty happening for us when we got to know his struggle and destiny call that pulled him towards his journey of music. Being the owner of Baselard Studios, a self-proclaimed Music Producer, Guitarist and Composer, Aikarth has carried his worth by never giving up a spirit which was commendable for us.

A self-learned musician with lots of energy and power to build up the platform for many other freelance artists was worth discovery for our team. And, with his music what he exclaimed to us was more of an impressive catch to know…!!

What were the highs and lows you went through your journey of an artist that turned you into Full-time Musician and Guitarist?

Aikarth purohit udaipur

“I was studying in Pune, and there in the hostel, I used to play the guitar, so the focus was not entirely on studies. Then, being there somehow in pressure of studies I went uncomfortable, left everything around and came back to Udaipur. After being here, my parents forced me to go up at least with the engineering if I have left from there. So, I took the admission in RTU and proceeded with the course. Within the duration of 15 days, I met with a fatal accident due to which my right leg got injured, and it was almost cut. Then, at that point, everybody was like now what he will do with his life because of that serious accident. I went through the operation and in that scenario I gave the semester exams as well, but results were not positive enough for me because the college didn’t approve attendance and in that way, 2 years got wasted, and I was unable to complete my graduation.

During all these circumstances, what supported me was my passion for music. So, I asked my parents to allow me for Sound Engineering in Mumbai. But, because of all the previous problems and somehow being into the pressure of relatives to go with respectable degree courses, I was again left with the situation of a dilemma.

Then, after this chaos, I joined the B.C.A. and continued with my music practice here itself. And, with the gradual sessions, composing, and studies too. I came out as a graduate as well a Full-time Musician and Guitarist.”

When did you start with the Baselard Studios?

“During my graduation, I used to practice music at my home only with the Basic Learner’s software ‘FL Studio.’ So, with that beginning with one of my good friend, I started the Baselard Studios, and I continued the learning process in our Home-based Studio for a Year. And, in that time, we worked with many local artists, independent music producers, and freelancers.

baselard studios udaipur

After building up the base, I decided to blow the new heights for Baselard Studios and went up to settle Studio as full-time Music Production place for all the freelance musicians and ad filmmakers. And, leading with that dedication, I got work as well from outside like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and so on. All these things are going high today with dedication but what’s more surprising is that earlier I was unable to cope up with people that how to explain what I do and now the scenario has been completely different when I visit social gatherings or an event.

What are the five things that you can’t imagine to live without?

“I don’t have to think as series always begins with Music, of course, Guitar, Gyming, Travel, and Nature.”

Who is your music inspiration?

“Yngwie Malmsteen, Chris Broderick, and Slash.”

Do you prefer any favourite genre of songs especially in concerts and in your spare time as well?

guitarist udaipur

“Yeah, I mostly prefer Heavy Metal, Rock, and Neo-classical genre of songs for the big shows and in my free time too. Rest is like if the event or concerts are at mid-level, I prefer Bollywood pop songs, Sufi, Rock and whatever that matches well with the taste of crowd.”

Apart from Guitar, what’s your favourite instrument that you often love to work with?

“Piano – both Conventional and Digital.”

Have you got any professional training or you are still heading with self-learning?

music producer and composer aikarth purohit

“Not so far! I am a self-taught Musician and Guitarist and focused with regular learning through technology.

What’s your ideal thing that you follow when you are not into recordings, music concerts, or composing?

“Gyming…As when I am not into the meetings, recordings, composing, and music concerts, I give my time to fitness and workout.”

Aikarth!! From chaos to upholds, any memories that you cherish till date in your musical journey so far?

music concert in udaipur

“Yeah, there are some good memories of my work and heading to the Baselard Studios, I recorded many covers out of which one was dedicated to Junoon Band, and they shared on their Social Medias as appreciation to me. And, I received the honour of appreciation for Bollywood cover of Meet Bros Song which they tweeted and also shared on their social profiles. Currently, there was a music video shot by Shael Oswal in Udaipur, and I have been the part for that too. Apart from that, there are lot many Renowned Tamil music producers, I have worked with.”

For the people who have never heard your music, explain your sound to them in 5 words.

“Umm… I can say One Stop Solution For Music.”

What’s your motto or the advice for life that you live by and want to share with our reader’s as well?

CA Turned Baker of the Town – Garima Singhvi Babel (GB Temptations)

We all love desserts, don’t we? They are scrumptious and a delight to our cravings. But only a few know what all goes behind making those sweet savouries. Today we are in conversation with Garima Singhvi Babel. A qualified Chartered Accountant and director at a leading cooperative bank, Garima is the founder of GB Temptations, Udaipur’s first Baking and Cooking Studio.

What set her apart are her skills of cooking & baking desserts, chocolates, and a lot more stuff that a real foodie can’t resist. And, with GB Temptations – Baking and Cooking Studio, she has created a trademark of her name acronym by teaching fantastic skills to many people.

A conversation with her while sipping coffee with a yummy fruit cake made by her was incredibly overwhelming.

When the idea of Baking and Cooking Studio took shape and from where you got inspiration?

“Baking and cooking have always been my passion since childhood. I was in 1st standard when I baked my first cake. The idea of starting up with GB Temptations surfaced after my marriage when my husband who himself is an entrepreneur by choice encouraged me to take this passion more seriously and that led to GB Temptations.

And, from there the official journey took shape, and it has been 3 years since I have been training people with the new dimensions of desserts, cakes, Biryani’s and basic household cooking.”

From where you have received your training and entire learning of Cooking and Baking?

“I have always been very passionate about the art of cooking and food, so I use to read a lot about it. The ingredients, the variety, the aroma, the presentation, all used to lure me towards it. Gradually I developed a very keen interest in cooking and started making things from a very early age. It was because of this obsession that I went to Mumbai, where I learned how to make different desserts.

How do you manage your life being as a professional, a wife, and a mother?

“Well, I believe if you are passionate about something, things automatically get into place. And, that’s what I have always learned. So, being a professional, a wife, and a mother of my sweet little child has never been a restriction to my career. All you have to be is positive and dedicated.”

What’s your favourite ingredient that you play with most of the times?

“Chocolate and fresh fruits! They are my favourite, and I experiment with them more often.”

At GB Temptations, do you have any substitutions that are used for diabetic and Vegan people?

Yes, for people with diabetes; sugar-free cakes and desserts are available. And, Vegans don’t have to worry about eating or trying our specialties as desserts are completely eggless. Apart from this, fine and quality ingredients are used which provides a less calorific touch to our varieties.”

Are these courses costly to learn?

Not at all!! The courses are very reasonably priced.

Which dessert and delicacies that are special at GB Temptations?

The unique version of my baking includes Gravity Defying Cakes, Lace work cakes, and 3-D Jelly Cakes and theme cakes which you may not find anywhere else in Udaipur. And, yes the Biryanis.

GB Temptations have got many reviews till date!! What are the most memorable ones?

“There are lot many great reviews till date and every student, client, and the dear ones have been special to us. So, we cannot single out any one.”

What are your plans regarding GB Temptations for future purpose?

“In future, I am looking forward to set-up a dedicated Baking and Cooking Academy on a larger scale with certified courses for people who want to learn the intricacies of cooking and baking. The objective is to keep adding new things in this domain and share with people through my courses. Currently, I take orders for near and dear ones, but we might expand our order base in future.

This is what we call WHOA!! As an assuring benefit to people within their city is something many people avoid. But, we can say Garima, you are an inspiration.

Guys!! If you are like really obsessed with learning and honing the art and wanna be a cooking expert, then you can enquire about many things with first ever Baking and Cooking Studio in Udaipur.
