Rs 914 Crore Sanctioned For Road Widening Project Around Udaipur

17th October 2012, Wednesday marked the day of initiation for the state’s Rs 20,000 crore road development programme.

Yesterday Rajasthan’s hon’ble Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot laid the foundation for Udaipur’s Rs 914 Crore road widening project. This project includes the development of ‘Four Lane’ roads around Udaipur. The project initiated under the National Highway Development Programme (NHDP) would include the Gomati Chowraha-Udaipur section of NH-8, and will be undertaken under the DBFOT model i.e. design, build, finance, operate and transfer model.

The project is being called Shreenathji-Udaipur Tollway Pvt Ltd , it is a Sadbhav Engineering, Ahmedabad undertaking. The work is likely to be completed by 2015.

 Large funds were required to expand the road network in the country, out of 460000 km of roads in the country, only 76,000 km were the national highways.” Said C.P. Joshi (Minister, Road Transport and Highway)

The completion of this project will yield the government a premium of Rs 21.60 crore for 27 years, with a 5% increase p.a.

Rajasthan government should provide speedy land and forest clearance for timely completion of infrastructure projects,” said A K Upadhyay (Road Secretary)
